1 THE MORNING BEFORE HE 'DIED'

***Year 2019***

<PRESENT TIME>

<Mortal world>

The day Aiden Jones died began like any other.

Err... not exactly die

As in die totally...

But let us say he was not far from it.

Because before this day ends, he will be soooooo dead!

Anyways!

So he woke up in that morning just like what he always did and started his day with the same old routine.

Just like how he used to start his superordinary life, Aiden crawled out of his bed and went straight to the bathroom to prepare himself and face another of his ordinary day.

Standing in front of the mirror, he ignored his hair that almost looked as though some bored birds nested on top of his head.

"Alright, you hottie. Brace yourself, because you'll gonna rock this day again and hit your daily quota! Yoohoo!!!"

Aiden said to his reflection in the mirror before he winked to himself.

Good thing that he did not need to share this bathroom with anyone else right now.

Because if his roommates saw him talking to himself like that, they might think that he had gone nuts.

To call yourself hottie despite seeing that hot mess that was staring straight back at you from your reflection at the mirror, just which part of you exactly resembled a hottie???

Really???

Just where did you get your gust and confidence from??

You sure had a lot of stocks of it!

Then with another big smile, Aiden continued talking to himself.

"Okay, Aiden I know that you are handsome, and someday you'll get a beautiful wife to marry and start a family. So as early as now, you must have to start working really hard to earn a lot of money. And always remember that there are lots of readers waiting for your update. So, Ajah! Fighting!!!"

That was how our main character liked to start his mornings, every single day.

Because whenever his alarm goes off at 7 o clock in the morning and he has no other choice but to drag his sorry butt out of his bed, he would always end up wondering why did he even have to keep on doing all of that?

He could not help but wished that his mother was still here.

There were these times that he missed those days when he was still back to his hometown with his friends somewhere in the countryside province

Because up here, in the city, all he has is his reflection to talk to.

He must be lonely, you think??

Well, apparently he chose not to. He wanted to face life with a smile.

Go with the flow. Life must go on.

That was why he had that mantra, to begin with.

That was to remind himself that there was always a reason for him to live his life as happy as he could be.

That everything was gonna be alright and all will eventually fall to its rightful place and he would soon find his own happiness.

He was important and he exists for a reason.

Aiden always sees to it that he would start his day with a positive note, just like that.

After saying his morning mantra in front of the mirror, Aiden tamed the hot mess that was his hair and threw himself some decent clothes to wear for that day

After all the preparations had been made, he was finally all set to hit the cafe a few blocks away from the bed spacer that he was currently renting.

Apparently Aiden was working as a part-time barista in a cafe.

Well, so far that was the best job that he could get for himself in the city considering that he did not have any college degree.

Besides, he also had this other source of income that helped him big time to make ends meet.

He was also a web novelist. An author wannabe, as termed by the others.

And just like any other aspiring authors out there, he also wanted his books to be published somewhere in the future.

In fact, that was one of his childhood dreams.

If he only had a chance to go to college, then he probably had might chose a course related to this passion of his as well.

But since his mom died from a car accident a couple of years ago, he had no other choice but to stop attending school and focus on working his ass off instead to earn for a living and support himself.

Now, why was he in the city???

Well, apparently, he had no other choice but to do so.

Their finances were not doing good, to begin with.

When Aiden's mother died, he was left with nothing but a bunch of debts. Not to mention that he also had to pay for the hospital bills and funeral service of his mom.

As such, Aiden was left with no choice but to sell their small property in the province.

Despite his heavy heart, he has to part with all those childhood memories that came with their old house.

Yet even though Aiden tried his best to survive and patiently make do with all that was left to him, Lady Luck did not seem to be fond of him at all.

Misfortunes kept on happening to him one after another.

Until one day, Aiden met an old lady claiming to be an itinerant fortune-teller.

The other party introduced herself as Moira but then later elaborated that Moira was actually a collective name for her and her other two triplets.

The other party was too friendly to him and it even offered him a free service at that time.

To which Aiden agreed readily even though that was just their first time meeting each other

The old fortune-teller that goes by the name of Moira, told him that bad luck will just keep on following him if he would continue to live in their place.

She even advised him to start his new life in the city and told him that he would be going to meet someone here ( in the city ), and that someone would change his life for good.

The old lady that called herself Moira, also added that a black shadow was trailing after him and it would just keep on bringing misfortune upon him so he must find that ' special' someone who could change his life, at all cost.

Because apparently that special someone, whoever he or she was, he bet it was a 'she' was also the only one capable of protecting him from that said black shadow.

Well, of course, Aiden had long known that all of it sounded absurd and cliche.

But hell yeah!

What was wrong from being a little bit superstitious and careful.

Just follow her advice!

There was no harm believing the words of a fortune teller every now and then, right?

So there he was!

Braving the bustling city life.

One more good thing about this job that he got, was that he had a very understanding and supportive superior.

Even though his shift was only four hours a day, he was allowed to stay in the cafe for as long as he wanted---and that was exactly what he always does!

Of course!

Free WIFI!!!

With that, he was able to survive as a web novelist without worrying about the bills for internet connection.

He always stayed inside the cafe until it closed and within those times he would write his novel and upload it to an online reading site that also paid him well.

That was how his life goes on a daily basis.

He went to work, went home to eat then sleeps, and repeat.

There were no parties, no fun and most of all... NO GIRLS!
