16 Never accept any other woman

Stanley ordered the servants to serve the dishes. The urkel's sat on the table and began to enjoy the meal. It was a sumptuous feast on the family day. The Urkel's cook had served as an executive chef at the Michelin three-star restaurant in Spain and was hired by Old Urkel when he returned home.

On the table, Mr Urkel asked, glancing at Ethan, "Why didn't you bring Chloe with you?" Ethan remained quiet. Susan, who had been quiet spoke, at this time.

"Ethan, I heard that you broke up with Chloe because of another woman, is it true?" As she pushed out these words, she glanced at Mr Urkel to see his reaction, an evil grin appearing across her face. She had brought up the question knowing fully well that Old Urkel, her husband, would immediately be angry. She did it intentionally. As soon as he heard what Susan said, he roared, his voice trembling due to anger, "Is it true?"

Ethan still remained silent and continued to eat as if he hadn't heard the question. Old Urkel, then decided to let him be for now, he would discuss the issue with him later. At this moment, there was a pin-drop silence. After the meal, Mr urkel stopped Ethan before he went upstairs to take a nap, "Ethan, come to my study with me."

Ethan knew that Old Urkel had something to say to him. He sensed it was the issue with Chloe. Besides, they had not had a good talk for along time, and since he came back today, he couldn't avoid it. He nodded and followed his father to the study room.

In the study

"Ethan, is what Susan said true?" Old Urkel began.

"Did you ask me to come only for this?" replied Ethan drily. He sat on the sofa, his tone sounding impatient.

"Ethan, you and Chloe grew up together! Her father and I are great friends and you know that! Don't let your personal feelings ruin this friendship! I don't care how you do it, but you have to bring Chloe back! Apologize! Kneel down and beg for her forgiveness and I'm sure she will forgive you!" Old Urkel, uttered stressing every word carefully, trying to make him understand that it was not a request but a command. He walked out and standing at the door, he spoke once again, "I will never accept any other woman you bring into this house, except for Chloe! She's the only daughter-in-law I have! He banged the door of the study room close. He had spoken, he left no room for argument. Ethan sat on the sofa, his face expressionless. He walked out of the mansion, got into his car and drove off the premises.

After the incident, as days went by, Chloe decided to stay low-key. She would spend her day at home, do house chores, cook and then during lunch hour, she would deliver a lunch snack to her brother, jayden and then head back to the mansion. She hadn't even visited her best friend, Ann. She had changed into another personality temporarily. She did it to stop jayden from reporting her to their dad. And it worked with magic. Because, everytime Jayden came back home, he would find her sitting on the sofa or sometimes in her room. Peeping through the slightly opened door, he would see her reading a novel on her laptop. A wide smile would appear across his face. He was happy. Happy because she had thought about her actions and decided to change. Little did he know that she was just pretending. 'Mentioning dad wasn't a bad idea at all,' he thought before walking away.

Chloe's phone is ringing, picking it up, she answers, "Hello." On the other side of the phone, a man's voice is heard, though the message he passes to her cannot be clearly heard. Chloe nods her head in agreement as she listens carefully to the man speak. From time to time, she keeps glancing at the door of her room, because at any moment, jayden could appear.

After a while, Chloe finally speaks, "Is everything ready?" she asks. "Don't mess this up for me! Or there would be repercussions! Make sure you leave no evidence! You'll get the rest of your money once the deal is done! And one more thing :No room for mistakes!" She hungs up the call, deletes the call log from her phone and then rushes to the kitchen to resume what she had been doing.

A moment later, Jayden walks in while in a hurry. It's as if he came back to pick up something and head back to the office, maybe. Chloe follows him upstairs and finds him searching for something which he seems not to find. Her heart starts to beat faster, her hands trembling with fear. Few days ago, she had taken some money from her brother's drawer without his permission. She gave the money to the man as part of his payment for the task ahead. Seeing her brother search for what he couldn't find, she is worried. Worried that the money she had taken is what he was looking for.

Clearing her voice, she asks, "Brother jayden, what are you looking for? Maybe I could help you find it?" Twisting her fingers nervously, she eagerly waits for his response while cooking ideas on what to tell him if it's actually the money he's looking for. Seeing his sister's concern, he responds,

"I'm looking for a certain document! It's in a blue file! Did you, by any chance, come across it?" Heaving a sigh of relief, Chloe suddenly remembers cleaning up his room earlier, and re-arranging everything in his room. She walks to where she had placed all the documents and files, picks up the blue one and hands it over to him. "Is this what you're looking for?" Taking the file from her hand, he glances at her in confusion and responds, "Yes! Where did you find it?"
