6 Chapter Six

The ride home was silent. Savvy felt terrible for snapping on him. Then again, she still wanted to give him two middle fingers. He wasn't so important that she should feel any type of way. Tyron was a constant stampeded of different emotions and it was messing up her mental. He seemed so down to earth one moment and then so arrogant in the blink of an eye. It was making her insane, and she despised this arrangement. Savvy wanted nothing more than to put space between them as promptly as possible.

Then there was his magnificent family. They so accepting. Even Tory, who seemed to know how they were putting on an act at Houlihan's. He really looked like a nice guy, and he was funny. Tory was also an ex cop and now a private investigator. Maria loved a man in a uniform. He had begged her to fix him up with Maria and since he sounded serious, Savvy was plotting on it.

But that kiss, that kiss, won the cake. How was she expected to pick up her dignity after that, and god help her, but if he constantly tried that she did not know what she would do? She conjured up a vision of herself melting at his feet into a sad little puddle.

"Did you enjoy my folk at least," he asked?

"Yes, they were excellent," Savvy replied. They truly were. If this was real and they were going to be her future in laws, she would be ecstatic.

"I do not know why with you I constantly seem to fuck up, but I'm sorry and I promise to work on it."

Savvy was speechless for a minute. He was actually apologizing. When she was pissed off, he seemed to have a hard time doing so. He almost sounded like a proper boyfriend. He also sounded sorry, so maybe he was learning. Still she said, "Not important..... I shouldn't have gotten so upset."

Tyron shook his head, but continued driving. He said, "If we do this, we are going to be seeing a lot of each other. This could be a miserable six months if we are mad at each other the whole time. I want to get along with you." He turned on her street and changed the subject. "So Tory has a thing for your friend. Want to go on a double date?"

"Sure," Savvy said, sitting a little straighter. He had been right about them getting along. She concluded she would try as well, although she knew it wouldn't be easy, with him being bi-polar and everything. "For them, no problem. They would make a great couple."

"You know, if you would let your shield down a little, you might have fun with this whole arrangement. I'm not so awful. Most people like me." he said with a smirk.

Savvy felt her lips pull to the side even as she rolled her eyes. "I could like you to if you learned how to keep your distance and shut up every once in a while."

Tyron laughed as he pulled the car over in front of her house. He looked at her then, his eyes twinkled with mischief. "It's just not in my nature, but I will try to keep most of my thoughts to myself. How about that?"

He exited the vehicle and Savvy waited for him to come and let her out. He seemed to enjoy doing that. Truth be told, she liked it too. When he opened the door and helped her down, she smiled up at him. "That might work Tyron."

He gasped dramatically, one hand clutching his chest as he acted shocked. "Wow, you know my name?"

"Don't be petty, I agree, we need to be friends at least." Savvy said and the bit her lips around her next words. The hot smexy make-out session had to be addressed. So that it didn't linger in her mind. She was going to address it now. "About that kiss...." she started.

Tyron quickly held up his palms to stop her. "I promise not to kiss you again, but I will not pretend it didn't happen. I want you, and even though you won't admit it, you want me to. I can be patient. I'll just wait.... for you to kiss me."

"Boy, quit." She said as she lightly swatted his hands. There he was, back to feeling himself again. He was confident, and Savvy decided it was a trait she would have to live with if she was going to marry him. Even if he worked her nerves.

"Whatever you say, Savvy. Like I told you, I can be patient." His eyes never leaving hers, he gestured towards the front door. She didn't say a thing as she approached her steps. She was a little surprised he hadn't walked her to the door, seeing as he liked to open her car door.

Deciding not to dwell on the thought, Savvy unlocked her door and stepped inside. She peered back, and he was leaning against the door she had exited, waiting for her to go in. She offered a brief wave, to which he saluted, and inside she went.

Inside her apartment she found Maria on the couch surrounded by snacks and watching Bridesmaids. Savvy flopped down on the couch next to her and laid her head in Maria's lap. Maria paused the movie and looked at her expectantly.

"I think I despise him, Maria." Savvy said as she stared at the ceiling.

"Operative word Sav, Think, so you also might think you like him." Maria, ever the matchmaker, pointed out.

"No." Savvy said, shaking her head.

"You think he's gorgeous," Maria sang.

"Maybe." Savvy said, closing her eyes and giving up on arguing with her bestie. Who resorted to singing as a way of calling Savvy's bullshit.

"You think he's hot" Maria said, still singing.

"Lil bit" Savvy laughed.

"You wannnna kiss himmm." Maria sang more, putting a little bop to it.

"Been there," Savvy sang with her. "and done that."

Maria stopped bopping and looked at her crazily. "What? You didn't tell me that."

"I was trying to forget." Savvy admitted.

"to late now, detailed description asap." Maria said, pushing her to sit up.

"Honestly..." Savvy hesitated, unsure of to describe the most amazing kiss she had ever had.

"It was amazing," Savvy finally said, causing Maria to squeal and scoot closer, "mind-blowing, everything a kiss should be. Just not with us."

"Why the hell not?" Maria asked, as her smile dropped.

"He's not for me, Maria," Savvy said in defeat.

"Fate can play tricks with us," Maria said. "She actually enjoys it, you do not know what she has in store for you."

"Not him.."

Maria was about to give her another brief speech or a famous quote, so she spoke up first, "Hey you remember those guys from Houlihan's."

"Yeah," Maria said, clearly not finished talking, but easily distracted.

"Well, the cute, quiet one is Tyron's brother," Savvy said.

"No way, wow small world." She said, and Savvy saw the interest in her eyes as well. Maybe they are a match, she thought.

"Yeah, and he likes you."

"So," Maria said, waiting for the punchline.

"Wanna date him?" Savvy asked quickly.

"No."

Savvy was lost. Miss, you want to kiss him was turning down a date. "Why not, you keep pushing me to Tyron, but you won't give his brother a chance? His brother who is equally fine and pretty nice. He was at the barbecue and couldn't seem to stop talking about you."

"Well, I guess I could, if you promise to loosen up some and chill out." Maria said, looking thoughtful.

"Done. I think you'll really like him. Date is tomorrow. We're doubling up." Savvy said before going to her room for a much needed shower.
