Two years later….
SHISHI
I checked the calendar on my phone for what felt like the tenth time today. Six more days until Suyin was back. Life without her was dull, empty. Every time she went on a foreign tour, fulfilling her duties as Minister of Child and Women Welfare, it felt like a part of me was missing.
As I touched the digital lock to my office, a familiar scent greeted me—a subtle, sweet fragrance that made my heart skip a beat.
"Suyin! Suyin?" I called out, hoping she'd be there.
I checked our lounge room, then moved to the bathroom and the kitchen, but there was no sign of her. Only her bags, which were casually placed by the door, and a giant, beautifully wrapped gift on my desk. I smirked. She must be hiding somewhere, waiting to surprise me.
