Luxury of choice (1)

Natasha POV:

To our amazement, one of our targets simply waited on the roof while the other went in to confront Nobu Yoshioka. While others found it odd, it came to me as a chance.

-I think it's better to wait, Natasha. Who knows what they might do if you try to make contact now?

Coulson warned.

-My instincts tell me they know we are observing them. The thing that they didn't even bother hiding hits my nerves. As if they don't care if we observe them or not. I have to confront them. And also it may be our only chance in the foreseeable future.

I said to him. Despite his urging, I came out of the building which was at the opposite of the road. I made my way to the rooftop of the building where the target was standing like a statue, observing the China town. I reached the rooftop and decided to hide behind a water tank in its shadow for now. I knew it was futile, But I did it anyway out of habit. I was about 20 yards away from him. He was standing at the edge of the building and observing the night view of the street in front of him. Just down the roof, I could here serious fighting sounds, like concrete breaking form punches and kicks, sometimes outright crashing sound of walls. What kind of force can directly send a person through a wall?

No matter what I couldn't bring my self to get any closer this 14-year-old teenager, my instinct telling me, the person in front of me is so dangerous and so out of my league that he could probably kill me in seconds. Right at that moment, for a fraction of second, I thought death gripped my throat, a chill going through my spine. I unconsciously took two steps back.

But the feeling vanished just as fast as it came. Even the dangerous feeling coming from that person vanished as if all of that was just my misconception. Just at that moment, a metallic voice floated towards me which spoke Russian,

-It's not polite to greet someone you have come to meet, don't you think, Black Widow?

The voice was emotionless. Hell, it was not even a true voice as it was masked by some kind of voice masking device. Yet, I felt divinity from that voice. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't believe in gods and stuff, but the feeling was too surreal to ignore. *What the hell am I doing? He is just a 13 to 14 years old boy. What am I getting flustered about?* I thought. I answered,

-I don't know how to greet someone who can kill people like chickens. No, even chickens put up better struggle in front of a normal human.

-Oh my... You are putting me at the position of the bad guy.

-Are you not? How many have you killed in the last two months? Have you ever thought about their life? They might be corrupted down to the bone, but they too have people that are depended on them, family, children, loved ones. Don't you think they deserve at least a second chance?

-Wonderful, hearing that from the incarnation of death and carnage, truly felt wonderful. Tell me this, how many people have 'you' killed on any single undercover mission you went on. I would be buried under the sheer number of bodies you have dropped. That is not even including your primary targets of assassinations. Tell me, dear, why are you any different than me?

-Because I realized my mistakes and went ahead to correct them to the extent I can.

-What? By doing more espionage and killing? Do you even realize how lame that sounds? All I see that a sword has changed hands and it continues to take life all the same.

-That's true but now I take life for a greater cause. I stand by the side of humanity and try to stop it from killing itself. I know you want to help others just as I do. If you think you two use your powers to do good to others, why don't you join SHIELD, and prove yourself better than killing just a bunch of low lives?

Hearing that the person didn't speak for a long time. Then suddenly he laughed out loudly,

-*Ha ha ha* That was really funny. Are you guys that much threatened by our existence? You do realize that you know absolutely nothing about us. Who we two are, what is our intention, you don't even know what is our impression of SHIELD. Trying emotionally blackmail us to join SHIELD at the first contact, aren't you pushing your luck too much, Black Widow?

At that moment I realized, what have I done. That is not me. I absolutely wouldn't do such rookie mistake. Something is inducing my subconsciousness. I warily look around and covered my nose.

-Don't bother, dear. There is nothing in the air. But I must say, your will is quite strong. Any other woman would have down to their knees by my charm inducement.

He said to me. His charm? What is he talking, is it about the feeling I getting from him? Is it also his power? So, is he indeed a mutant?

-Can we please talk in a civilized manner? SHIELD would like to know you and negotiate terms with you. We only want world peace and absolutely don't mean any harm towards you or anyone who stands by the side of humanity. Why don't you reciprocate our goodwill and give us a chance to prove our self? Think about it okay...

-Haha, my dear, you are so funny. Such silly talks have to be put for another time though. I got a feeling that we are going to have a very busy night. They are about to finish up down there.

In the full conversation, his eyes didn't leave the streets, as if he was searching for something. At that moment a red flare came out from below thought the glass cover and went to the sky creating a small firework. And right after that followed 3 huge explosions at three different directions from our location. The explosion created a fire outbreak alongside it. My jaw dropped, does this kid can see future?
