7 The Beginning - Chapter 7

I instead separated the ball into four smaller orbs and hung them in the air. Whereas before I had to consciously focus on the mana to bring it to my hand and really strain to keep it from moving. However, now I could just leave the balls there and almost command them not to dissipate. I retrieved one of the balls, over a million MP worth and created a gateway to my storage with it.

SKILL LEVELED UP - STORAGE LVL MAX

Just from using a low cost skill with an amount of mana several magnitudes larger than the amount needed, I had leveled it up to its max.

STORAGE - LVL MAX

YOU CAN OPEN A WINDOW INTO YOUR OWN PERSONAL STORAGE SPACE, THIS SPACE CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED BY YOU AND THE ITEM YOU THINK OF, IF IT IS PLACED IN WILL BE RETRIEVED. THE ROOM AVAILABLE IN THE STORAGE IS UNLIMITED DUE TO THE LEVEL OF THE SKILL.

MANA COST - 10

The mana cost hadn't gone down but there was now no need to ever worry about the space left in storage. With the first ball of mana consumed by my storage spell I thought I may as well try something else, I held the next one, absorbing the previous amount that I was able to via my skill, veins underneath my skin glowing with a white light.

The orb didn't look any different but I could sense the mana that was sucked out. I tried absorbing more.

Power flooded my body and my skin itself started to glow, I began to wonder how high my skill in mana absorption had risen. I decided to go all in, absorbing as much mana as I could. The orb halved in size and my senses exploded, the colours of the stone became, somehow, vibrant hues of grey, my skin cast a white light on the walls of stone and shone out into the night from the opening I had left in the stone. Strangely, the sound from the grass outside had stopped, looking out, I could see that the wind had stopped blowing.

I placed my hand on the stone beneath me to get up and look outside but when I made contact with the stone, I saw cracks slowly form across the surface. I knew that cracks don't form that slowly. It clicked.

'This is far too much mana to absorb.'

I had sped myself up to ridiculous proportions and increased my strength to insane heights so I relinquished the mana into the air. A burst of light came out from me, leaving my skin dull and ashen. The burst of light had disappeared fast but I could still feel it partially, speeding away.

I reached for the second off of last mana orb, making it float towards my hand. I then tried my normal effect but with every ounce of mana in the orb.

Instead of bursting into a ginormous blue flame it instead grew darker and more of a pure blue light came from it. It was then that this heatless flame ballooned in size, flying away from my hand and though the ceiling of the stone hut. I had pushed it away before I was enveloped in light, I strode out of the hut, looking up at the retreating orb of blue flame, resembling a small blue sun. It continued to grow however as it flew further away.

'The reach of my mana weaving sure has increased.' I thought with a smile, watching the orb.

Eventually I stopped pushing it and allowed it to grow, even though it must have been tens of miles away it covered a large section of the sky, almost like a cloud that had covered a village. The darkness of night was nonexistent under this new sun, the fields were as green as in the day and though I could see perfectly in night with my eyes I could still see the difference in day and night.

SKILL LEVELED UP - BRINGER OF FLAME LVL MAX

"Safe to say that worked then." I muttered to myself, extinguishing the orb and descending the plains into darkness.

I walked back into my hut and studied the last orb of energy, contemplating what to do when a brilliant idea came to me. I took about 20 MP out of the orb and held the spark between my fingers. I then pressed my fingers against the ring I wore on the opposite hand.

The ring of flying.

The ring heated up briefly but the mana was absorbed. The test was a success, but I saw something different with the ring now that I had focused on it. I looked into it and saw that I had raised its capabilities, I also saw the limit to those capabilities. I plucked roughly 20,000 MP from the orb, barely making a difference, and placed it into the ring. The ring accepted the mana, though it was now at capacity. With this improvement I looked at the ring, bringing up its window.

RING OF FLYING

WHILE WEARING THIS RING THE USER MAY FLY AT SPEEDS INCOMPREHENSIBLE TO THE CELESTIAL EYE.

MANA STORED - 23,795/23,795

'Well that was informative.' I thought, happy with my experimentation for the day. I lay down on my bedroll, closing my windows and leaving the point assignment till morning.

King Goh Hungwoo

The whole nation had been shocked awake when the blue sun had sprung up across the sky during the night for a brief moment. Not many believed what they had seen, but it soon became obvious that it had not been a hallucination as the kingdom's top mages were adamant that it was a magical spell of immense proportions.

The king sat upon his throne in the large chamber that was his throne room, the king was a thickly muscled man, partially due to his individual skill, strength of faith. He and the rest of his royal family had skin the colour of gold that shone in the sunlight and long golden hair. This aesthetic suited the air of a king as he didn't need a golden crown to show who he was, just his robes and his appearance.

"My king." The advisor, a skinny elf with specticals, knelt to his liege.

"What news do you bring Jyr' Larraj?" The King spoke with great authority, partially due to his high faith stat as it raised the individual's leadership abilities and trust that they could gain in others.

"My Liege, our scouts have located the origin of the spell."

"Well? Where is it?"

"From a small stone hut outside of the undead dungeon."

"A stone hut?" The king asked, he didn't know any powerful mages who lived in stone 'huts'.

"Yes, there is an unknown individual sleeping within the hut on what looks to be a bedroll. The scouts suspect he knows or is the caster who cast the spell. They think he is resting to recover his mana." The advisor, Jyr' Larraj said, still bowing in the large throne room.

"Hmm, send the top party in the Kirin guild out there to question him."

The Kirin Guild was the kingdom's top guild, their best party contained more than five adamantite rank adventurers and an extra three more diamond rank. What's more is the Guild had direct links to the royal family and would move at the whim of the king.

"Sir, the party won't make it there before daybreak. What will we do if he moves?" Jyr' asked, finally looking up.

"We will tell the scouts to follow him if he does and then relay to the party where he is."

"Yes sir."

"Will that be all?"

"Yes, my Liege."

"You are dismissed then."

Yolen Arcanum

I awoke, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. I got up from my rest and erased the camp I had been staying in, deciding to go hunt down a dungeon as I could see far more minute changes to the mana now and there were numerous flows that could potentially lead to a dungeon.

"Today is the day I learn to fly then." I said to myself, hopping on the spot. I absorbed about 1000 points of mana, veins glowing brightly, and leapt upwards, activating the ring of flying. As I reached the apex of my leap, hundreds of feet in the air, I willed my decent to stop and stop it did as I floated in the air above the grassy plains. Angling myself horizontally, I focused on a mana flow and started to fly along its path, but only at a speed I felt I could handle, which was far faster than I could right then.

As the wind whipped past me I opened my stat window, placing the skill points into my job, which actually raised my level aswell. Monitoring my progress along the mana flow I continued fiddling with my stats, distributing my ability points that totalled 65. All but one of my stats were above one hundred now.
