36 Chapter 4: Pendragon, Quest for a Chicken’s Egg and The Knights Training

The Three had separated to look the chicken's egg. Faith thought it was funny how she had roped Kai and Arthur into looking for it with her. Faith had stepped into the courtyard to see a bunch of maids hiding behind the pillars admiring something secretly. She had turned to the courtyard to see it Merlin sitting on a bench with Yuyu on his lap; he has a sad look in his gaze. Faith thought about Vivian the lady of the lake, and she started to get mad. How dare she break her student's heart, she wanted to show that women a piece of her mind. Vivian was once an ordinary village girl she and Merlin had been in a relationship since youth. Then one day she ended up mysteriously cursed, and Merlin bound her to the lake to save her. It is utterly ridiculous that she blamed him for her curse and even hates him for confirming her to the lake. Faith signed as she walked away from the courtyard.

It was Dinner time, and Faith was disappointed that they couldn't find a chicken's egg.

Among the three meals that the European nobles usually have, dinner is supposedly the most magnificent. To Faith the meal wasn't as splendid, she had better than this, Avalon had surly downgraded since she left. She only touched a little of her meal before excusing herself and stepped into the courtyard. Yuyu rubbed against her leg before jumping in her arms and purring.

"Fay" Faith head Kai voice from behind

"Yes"

"Merlin said you from a faraway country, is that true"

"...Yes"

"Could you tell me about your country? Where is it? Does everyone there have black hair and eyes."

"...…."

"I your country bigger than mine? Are there any knights? Do you live in a castle?"

"Kai!!" Faith yelled "I'm more than happy to answer your questions. But it will be one at a time. So, which question do you want me to answer first."

"Where is your country?"

Before Faith answered, she sat down on the steps with Yuyu still cuddling on her lap.

"My country lives under far under the western seas."

"Under the western seas."

"Hehe, it's a country under water."

"How?"

"Magic, technology and Science."

"Cool," Kai said fascinated "Can I visit."

"No"

"Why"

"Because that country is now gone."

"...." Kai was silent as he felt like it was an insensitive topic.

What Faith said was the truth, when she had first entered this world, she started as out as a child living in underwater country known as Nīru. It was often called the country for exiled scholars as it started with genius from around the world who where exiled from their country's due to their ideas. It is similar to Rapture; however, it wasn't infested with failed experiments. The country failed due to an accident in the technology that was keeping them underwater. Due to the contingency plan known as the Alfheim project, most of the Nīru people were saved and created a new country known as Nīru Alfheim.

Kai and Faith had been talking for about an hour after he changed the topic. Kai eventually left as he was getting tired.

"You guys talk to much" Arthur said behind her

"At least its better than Kai" Faith giggled "He talked more than me."

"I don't believe in you coming from an underwater country"

"It's what's so…..Well, I'm tired, so I shall turn in for the night."

Early morning the next, Faith burst into the wizard's tower, frightening Merlin.

"Merlin!" Faith had a serious look on her face, giving him a bad feeling

"Have given the boys basic knights training yet.

"NO"

"Good, let's start today."

"Huh"

"You heard me; let's get Merlin and Kai."

"…."

Merlin stood by a big drown house "I will teach you how to ride a horse today" Merlin softly said his face clam while on the inside he was panicking he wanted to stall sword training. "This is the basic skill. As long as you grasp it well, you have an advantage in battle. Kai and Arthur looked excited as Merlin was talking. Faith stood in the background with Yuyu just watching. As the two were interacting with the horses. Merlin glanced at as she gave him the death stare that seems to say,

"Sword Training better be doing soon."

"Hey! Stupid girl!" Arthur screams out at Faith. Making Merlin jump when Faith smiles creepily "It's your turn!"

"Okay"

Faith jumped on the horse with professionalism, making Arthur upset. Faith smirked at Arthur childishly as she showed him that she had gotten on the horse faster than him. Arthur was prideful like Uther, and he could not stand the idea that someone was better than him.

Merlin was dreading this "The next lesson is sword training, First hold your sword directly in front of the wood. Focus on your strength in your arms and its accuracy. As Kai and Arthur had taken swings at the pieces of thick wood Faith just stood in front of it.

"Stupid girl aren't you going to do anything" Arthur finally said as he couldn't take her standing there

"Already did" The thick piece of wooden suddenly broke into pieces surprising both Kai and Arthur as they stood in shock. Merlin wasn't surprised he was more worried as he believed his teacher was getting impatient.

"You couldn't have broken that"

"And why couldn't I have?"

"Now, now, let me tell you a story." Merlin interrupted them "Once upon a time a Knight fell in love and married an ugly witch, making everyone think he would regret his decision but, he loved her despite her appearance. However, it turned out that the ugly witch wasn't ugly at all, but an extremely beautiful woman who put a spell on herself. Surprising everyone, with this she tested him one last time and asked him what appearance her preferred her to take. What would your answer?"

"I'd choose her beautiful form," Kai said

"And you Arthur."

"I choose her beautiful form too," Arthur said

"I'd let the witch decided," Faith said

"..." Merlin paused "Why is that?"

"Isn't the witch testing the knight. So, why would she make it easy for him."

"Stupid girl, what would you know."

"Who knows" Faith responded and left seemingly lost in thought.

Faith is in the hen-house lost in thoughts; she had come here every day in the past month to look for a chicken's egg. When she couldn't find she walked out and into the courtyard or wizard's tower.

"You're still looking for eggs," Arthur said

"mmm," She responded emotionlessly.

"Here," he said holding a basket of eggs which immediately brought her attention, her eyes sparkled.

"Are these for me" she was a little surprised that Arthur would do something for her. Her smile was very wide and bright.

"Yes," Arthur blushed little as he handed her the basket. Faith took an egg from the basket greedily/

"Hey, Arthur" She stared at the egg

"What?"

"Have you ever tasted death?"

"Huh"

"Hehe, never-mind" the next moment Faith had broken the egg consuming I raw.

Arthur had watched Faith crack open the egg eating it wrong, he was surprised, and then he was horrified as he watched her drop to the ground.

"Hey, Stupid Girl" Arthur hesitated before dropping to her and trying to shake her awake. His face had grown pale.

"Arthur" Kai had called with Merlin behind him, they both were shocked to see Faith on the floor seemingly dead. Merlin looked at his teacher in a nervous wreck and then he saw a basket full of eggs.

"Teacher, I…." Arthur started

"Arthur did she eat an egg" Merlin pointed to the basket

"Yes, she had been looking for one. So, I thought…."

"She's not allowed to eat eggs that why I made the chickens impotent" Merlin was panicking as even he didn't know what to do. His teacher always had a death wish, even when Claudius was alive. But back then Claudius handled his crazy wife with ease. "She's Allergic" he whispered

Soon enough a light evolved the tiny body that was his teacher as she disappeared.
