Chapter 9: Aarna

The world of Aarna is home to different types of humanoid and non-humanoid sentient beings and monsters.

The basic division of the living being can be categorized as; Humans, Faeries, Beast-kin, Magic Beings, Monsters, and finally Demons.

Though living in the same world, due to extreme prejudice and discrimination, the world isn't united and there's a constant hot or cold war going on between different races.

Humans are the most detested compared to others since they are beings of desire.

Most of the races are united under the banner of a single empire, except Faeries, Magic beings, and Monsters.

The humans are under the protection of the Gulza Empire and govern the third largest territory after Beast-kins and Demons.

The human Empire is further divided into 4 Kingdoms, of Four Cardinal directions.

Charlotte kingdom of North;

Teressa Kingdom of West;

Caela Kingdom of South;

The Durk Kingdom of East.

Meanwhile, the Capital City of Deccan is where the human Emperor resides and is the most powerful person in the human race.

"Shuruwat City is a small city, which falls under the territory of Caela Kingdom and you're currently lying on the bed of a small Inn with a woman, of this city," summed up Sriya.

"Wow you're explanation Skills are good," praised Virin.

"You're quite knowledgeable. Were you a scholar," he said.

"I don't know everything, I just know what I know," she replied with a smile.

"I loved reading books when I was young, but after my marriage.....my husband didn't support my hobbies. Books are expensive commodities!" she said with a sorrow-filled gaze.

"Well I hope you're ready to level up that Bibliophile Skill of yours," he replied.

"Mmm?" she just looked at him with a questioning gaze while making a cute sound.

'Man she's so cute,' he thought inwardly.

"I'll be depending upon your knowledge to guide me," he said and continued.

"My linguistic is quite weak and it'll take some time to catch up with you."

"So I'll buy all the books you like, I hope your thirst for them never gets satisfied," he said while cupping her face in his palms.

She smiled and with slightly moist eyes said, "You're gonna spoil me rotten, aren't you?"

He gave a toothy grin while nodding.

Then he suddenly remembered and questioned, " Can you further tell me about Status, adventurer, and guild?"

She nodded and started her explanation.

"As you have already observed Status has 6 attributes, Strength, Attack, Defense, Stamina, Agility, and finally Mana."

"Yep! I have a somewhat general Idea about that," he said.

She nodded and explained further.

"With each level up you gain 60 attribute points and these points are automatically divided as per conditioning and training of one's body."

"For instance, a mage who relies heavily on mana will and trains in magic and spells. He will have ludicrous mana points compared to other attributes."

"While a Swordsman, will have higher physical stats and low mana," she stopped for Virin to digest the information.

"Mmm, I understand. Please continue," he said.

"Now comes skills. Skills have a grade and have the following hierarchy; Legendary, SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, and E."

"Skills can be further divided into two branches, Active and Passive skills."

"Active Skills are dormant skills that require mana to activate and Passive skills on the other hand don't require any activation."

He nodded while listening to her explanation.

"Active Skills further have 4 grades; Novice, Basic, Intermediate, and finally Master."

"Well some claim there's a grade above Master level but we don't have any proof so most of the people think it's just a myth," she said while shrugging.

"Skills can be gained by one's desire, hard work, innate, luck, and finally divine intervention."

"I guess this gives you a somewhat basic idea about

Status in general.

He nodded after a few seconds.

"There are Ranks as well. But I guess this is enough for today. It will be hard to digest any more information dump," she said with a smile.

"Hmmm, that makes sense," he said while shrugging.

"Well regarding Adventurers and Guild my expertise is insufficient," she said with a sigh.

"Maybe we can visit a guild, they have guides to help out with novice adventures," she said.

"Okay, we can visit the guild for further information," he said.

"Hey Sriya," he muttered.

"Yes, Master?" she questioned.

"Will you join me on my adventures?"

" I will protect you from harm and everything else. So you've nothing to fear," he said

"Hehehe~"

"I will be honored. Although many men don't like strong women and prefer 'soft women' I guess that's not the case with you," she said while giggling.

"Don't worry, I have no shame in hiding in the bosom of a strong woman, hahaha," he said jokingly.

She also laughed while shaking her head.

*Ack ~*

Then suddenly a painful muffled moan escaped her mouth.

He looked at her with a gentle smile and questioned, " Having cramps?"

She nodded shamefully.

Then he looked at his ring and pulled out a box that he had collected from Regina's carriage.

He then opened the box and after fishing out a piece of candy shoved it in her mouth.

"Here, this will help a little bit," he said and then put the box back in his storage ring.

Then he laid down again and pulled her in his embrace he hugged her from behind, while gently caressing her stomach.

"We can laze around a little more," he said.

"Thank you, Master," her pain started to subside in his loving embrace.

While they were enjoying pillow talks, an errand boy from the tailor shop dropped by to deliver Sriya's clothes, after alterations were complete.

Then Virin realized, he had forgotten to buy clothes for himself.

"Would you care to give me a tour of your city, My Fair Lady?" he said while looking at Sriya.

"Hehehe, it will be my pleasure," she replied with a polite bow.

"So let's go!" he said.

Sriya immediately cast Clean and Refresh on Virin and herself and changed her clothes to something more casual.

Although what she wore was a simple turquoise-colored gown but it didn't stop Virin from drooling.

"Maybe we should buy a loose hooded cloak for you," he said while rubbing his chin.

"Ehhhhh~ why don't I look pretty?" she asked with a devastated look.

"Tch, that's the issue. You look like a goddess in that dress"

"I don't want others to look at you," he replied with a frown.

"Sheesh, will you stop with those jokes," she said while shaking her head.

"It's not a joke," he said in a cold voice and grim expression.

His expression and cold voice made her shiver a little.

"Let's go," she pulled her arm to change the mood and they left the inn.

They went to a tavern to start their day out with a light brunch.

The food was quite bland for his pallet, but he knew very well that he has to adapt to this world's cuisine.

There was no such thing as 'Butter chicken' or 'Biryani' in this world, or at least for now.

After enjoying the brunch they visited the tailor shop again to buy themselves some cheap clothes which shocked the shop manager and Sriya alike.

When she asked why he was buying cheap clothes for himself, while he bought comparatively expensive dresses for her yesterday.

He simply said that he was far from stable earnings so he chose to buy cheap clothes for himself.

She was flabbergasted by the reasoning and even requested that if this was the reason they should her dresses as well.

But he instantly denied it and said he is willing to spoil her because he can and pampering her gave him a great sense of comfort and happiness.

Many times more than he could ever get by spending money himself.

Her eyes became moist and she jumped into his embrace she shoved her face into his chest and started lightly hitting his chest and continuously calling him stupid.

After pacifying her they both decided to go for early dinner before heading back to the Inn and calling it a day.

While they were on their way back in the evening, they came across two drunkards who might have been lowlife thugs,

They both were standing near the tavern which was only a few blocks away from Virin's Inn.

Both of them were looking at Sriya with lustful gazes and started walking toward the duo.

Virin frowned and held onto Sriya's hand tightly.

"Hic~ look what we have here," said one of them while holding onto Syria's hair and sniffing them.

"She smells amazing, bro," he said to his partner.

Meanwhile, Virin pulled Sriya behind him to protect her.

Then the other thug came around and spanked Sriya's butt making her quiver with fear.

"Wow! She's soft as well," he said.

"What do you fine lads want from us?" Virin questioned with a smile.

"Oh I'll tell you, boy, why don't you leave her behind so she can have a good time," after saying he started licking his lips while rocking his hips in the air to show what he meant.

Virin looked at them with a serious expression and then smiled.
