Joel  woke up  to his dog, Muddy  jumping on his chest,  nearly flattening it. He  sat up with a sigh after   lightly moving Muddy off, Joel  grabbed his phone that was sitting  on his light brown desk by his bed.  It was 30 minutes before his alarm was  supposed to go off. He lead Muddy out of the  room and got dressed, he had a dark red jacket,  a white tee shirt, jeans, and a pair of black tennis  shoes. Joel made his way out of his room and outside with  his phone in his pocket and a school bag on his shoulder. His parents where on a work related trip and would be back in about a week, but he was responsible enough to go on his own. He stood  on his porch playing some poorly made, yet fun game on his phone. His bus pulled by his house and stopped, he made his way into the bus seeing the crowded seats and hearing a  group of girls practically screaching the lyrics to some song that Joel didn't know. He made his way past a couple groups of seats and walked to the back where there was his friend Henderson sitting in the window seat with his bag beside him, saving a seat for Joel. Once Henderson moved his bag,  Joel sat down.

̈ ̈Hey Joel," called Henderson. Henderson was a bright and funny boy with short messy brown hair and green eyes, he was rather tall with a slim face, he was wearing a striped long sleeved shirt.  

̈ ̈Hi Henderson ̈ replied Joel.

"Do you remember our plan for after school?¨

¨A plan?" Joel questioned, he had no memory of a plan.

̈ ̈Oh right! You weren't here yesterday, me and the others made plans to go inside the abandoned mall on Shelton street.¨

Joel liked this idea, he always liked exploring creepy places.

"Well am I invited?¨ Joel said jokingly, he already knew he was going to be going with them

"Of course, if you aren't too scared to go."

"Then it's a yes."

The bus stopped at the high school and all of the students made their way inside. Joel went through all of his classes, because he didn't have any of his friends in his classes it was, as always a boring day. The last bell rang and most of the students ran outside to the buses, Joel and another one of his friends Alvin who was short and thin wearing a brown tee shirt, were walking out to meet the others. 

Standing by the sidewalk on the edge of the school was  Henderson, Chad an athletic boy with short neat blonde hair, grey-ish eyes, and wearing a blue tee shirt with a popped collar that no one in the school liked, and Willson  who looked like he was the most scared to go, his normally jolly round face was way more pale than usual and was sweating with his arms crossed around his grey jacket which he was wearing. Henderson was talking with Chad about something that none of the others could hear. Wilson greeted Alvin and Joel as they walked closer.

"H-hey," Wilson said with a stutter

"Whats up Wilson?" responded Alvin

"It doesn't look like you're too happy to be coming with," Joel joined in

"Right on the nail Joel." 

Henderson saw the three conversing and yelled out "Whos ready to go?" 

The whole group heard and started to walk in the direction of the mall. While on their way there were a few quick conversations. Wilson was walking in the back while Henderson and Chad walked ahead. 

    When they finally arrived at the mall it was big. It had a flat roof and two stories, the windows on the first floor were for the most part broken, the ones that were still intact were foggy. The second floor was not safe from the destruction, two or three windows were broken and the top was weathered with it's paint going away revealing the brown bricks. There was some ruble and exit doors on all sides. Chad was the first to talk once they arrived at the mall.

̈ ̈So now what, now that we are here?¨

"Well," Henderson answered ``We head inside."

The group went around trying to find ways to get inside, since the door was locked. Alvin wanted to try to go through the broken window, but none of them wanted to take the chance of getting cut. While most of the group was looking around the front Joel and Henderson went              around the sides and the back. In the back they found another exit door, they didn't think much about it since all of the other doors were locked until they noticed that there was a crack in the door. Henderson walked up and looked to see what was keeping the door open just a crack, he looked down and saw the dried corpse of a rat that was squished to death while trying to sneak in. Henerson stepped back in disgust at the sight.

"What about it Henderson?" Joel asked

"Well it's open I guess." Henderson replied

Joel walked up and pulled the door open without seeing what was holding it open. Inside it was surprisingly light mainly because of the giant sky light in the roof that was not in the actual stores, a few parts of the skylight were broken leaving random piles of broken glass under the parts where it broke. The part they entered was the food court. There was a Chinese place, a pizza one, and a Greek food place. Henderson called the others over and they came running to the door. Chad without hesitation stepped inside as soon as he arrived then turned around and announced a challenge

"The person who finds the least valuable item, has to stay here overnight.

The others in the group could only assume that was what Henderson and Chad were talking about because as soon as he said that Chad and Henderson took off running down the mall. Soon after the rest of the group decided to split up. Alvin and Wilson went upstairs and Joel went down a hall to the right of the food court.  He must have been lucky because when he turned the corner he saw a jewelry store. 

He went inside and there were earrings and some rings encased in glass. Joel wasn't able to stay for long since he heard glass breaking down in the part of the jewelry store that was too dark for him to see. He went running out of the store, his shoes making a squeaking sound as he made a quick turn.  Once out of the store, Joel wasn't able to think about where he was going and made a random turn. Joel heard footsteps behind him but he just focused on running. While running he was finally able to think and turned into a bathroom. He hid in the second stall and stood on the toilet seat where there was an exposed pipe going from the top of the toilet to the ceiling. Joel saw that one of the pipes was about to fall off he grabbed it and pulled on it with all of his strength and leaned back. The pipe broke off and Joel flew back hitting his head on the door of the stall. Everything was blurry for Joel, he was able to stand up when he heard whispering outside of the bathroom which was too quiet for him to understand or even make out who it was. He pulled the pipe up and aimed at the door, he finally heard the footsteps enter the bathroom. Joel closed his eyes and waited for the noise of the bathroom stall opening. He heard the creek of the door opening, Joel swung the pipe and there was a clang once the pipe connected with whatever was following Joel. After the pipe hit Joel felt something splash on his hands and a bit on his face. When Joel opened his eyes he saw nothing there but when he looked down he saw his hands holding the now bloody pipe and his hands splattered with it, he also saw shoes sticking toes up the rest covered by the open stall door. He stepped out and saw the rest of the body.  Chad's nose and eyes were sunken into his face where the pipe hit and the blood was from his nose that had been busted by the pipe. Chad was barely breathing and his hands were shaking. Joel seeing this ran out of the bathroom, but he felt Chads hands grab his ankles, Joel didn't have time to react so he kept running and his shoes went off from Chad. Once he ran out of the bathroom he saw a glimpse of Henderson standing outside but Joel kept running.

Joel remembered the door. He ran in the direction of it as fast as he could because he knew that Henderson would be chasing him. Joel was 5 feet away when he stepped in a pile of broken glass from the ruined sky light. Joel still ran but with heavy pain, he was close to the door when Wilson came running out of nowhere and slammed into Joel, knocking their heads together. Joel fell from the impact and landed on his face, as he tried to get up Henderson grabbed Joel by the back of the collar.

̈ ̈What did you do Joel?¨ Henderson yelled

Joel wanted to say something but just couldn't get it out because Henderson had turned Joel around on his back and wrapped his hands around Joel's neck, choking him.

Joel reached around trying to find something to protect himself. Joel's hand finally reached the pile of glass he had stepped in and grabbed a handful of it. Joel slammed the handful of glass into the side of Hendersons head. Most of the glass collected inside of Hendersons head but some went elsewhere, a few more pieces went into his eye.Henderson fell off but still tried to attack Joel but Wilson got up and stomped on Hendersons arm while he was reaching for Joel, when he stomped there was a crack. Henderson rolled around in pain gripping his now broken arm. Wilson quickly grabbed Joel by under the shoulder and lifted him up dragging him out of the mall. When they got out Henderson attempted to crawl after them but WIlson slammed the door into his head, the doorstop attached to the door embedded itself into Hendersons skull. Joel's body finally gave up and he blacked out.

    When Joel woke up he was in a hospital bed with Wilson next to him. Wilson had different clothes on and a bandage wrapped around his hand Joel didn't know why until he noticed that Wilson was missing his index finger. Joel remembered what happened even though he wanted to forget.

"Whatever happened to Alvin?" Joel asked

̈ He's the one that did this,̈  Wilson said holding up his bandaged hand with the missing index finger. Then he went on about what happened with him in the mall.

When Wilson went upstairs,  Alvin followed. Wilson was able to find a clothing store that he thought must have a good item. Wilson saw Alvin go inside a hunting shop that was beside the clothing shop. Wilson came out of his store with a shoe box that had 150 dollar shoes inside he saw Alvin leaning against the doorway on the hunting shop holding a hunting knife.

̈ ̈Good find Alvin" Wilson said

̈ ̈Yeah good ̈ replied Alvin

Alvin chuckled and turned towards Wilson with a disturbing look on his face. Wilson was shocked when Alvin charged at him with the knife raised. Wilson raised the shoe box in defence but Alvin slammed the knife down chopping off Wilsons finger almost going through the box and stabbing Wilsons head but the shoe inside stopped it. Wilson pushed the box causing Alvin to stumble back for enough time for Wilson to slip past him into the hunting store. Wilson was able to find a shelf to hide behind and scavenge though to find something to defend himself with. He found nothing when he heard Alvin step inside the store. He looked around and saw a wood chopping axe in a glass display case. Wilson grabbed a box of bullets that was sitting in the shelf he was hiding against and through it at the glass box, with a crash the glass shattered. He grabbed the axe and turned around to face Alvin. Wilson ran at Alvin with the axe out beside him, when he got close enough Wilson swung the axe and it landed right under the ribcage, while Alvin was falling from the sharp blow wilson pulled it out and swung again implanting the axe into the side of  Alvins head. The strike landed right in Alvin's ear, cutting it in half then going further and chopping through his skull with a crunch. Blood soaked out of Alvin's now deformed face, the axe had cut through the bottom of Avlin's eye causing the inside oozing out. Wilson left the axe lodged in his former friend and ran. Soon after, crashing into Joel.

¨-And that's what happend.¨ Wilson said finishing his story.

The doctor came into Joel's room and asked

"So what happened to you two?¨

There was a short silence before Joel being a fast thinker said

̈ ̈Well when Wilson here fell through a glass pane it went through his finger and I cut my feet trying to help him ̈

Joel and Wilson were able to come home the next day. When Joel opened his front door Muddy came running at him with his tongue hanging out though the side, Joel petted him. Joel knew that everything would be normal if he was able to forget but he also knew that he wouldn't be able to.

    Joel laid awake that night, not able to sleep from the events at the mall. He waited all night until morning finally came Joel was waiting for his alarm and turned it off immediately. The bus came as usual and Joel went to the back where he and Henderson used to sit. The bus dropped everyone off and Joel went to his normal classes trying to keep his cool. It was how it was every other day until in between 4th and 5th period then Joel was reaching in his locker.

 Joel was too focused on grabbing his books to notice the whole hall parting in half to make way for a mysterious student walking down the hall. It had bandages wrapped completely around it's head with light blood stains on the part people could only think it's nose would be, but there was no nose shape it was dipped in where the eyes and nose would be. Joel was too focused on finding his physics notebook, to see that the figure was behind him, but Wilson did. Wilson walked up to it but was too late, the person grabbed the back of Joel's head and slammed it inside his locker. Wilson seeing that ran at the attacker but it noticed and dodged him. Joel couldn't get out because his hair was trapped in the hinge of the locker. The attacker grabbed Wilson and dragged his face across the gaps near the top of a random students locker like a cheese grater, students ran in all directions away from the sight. Within a few seconds large chunks of Wilson's face fell off. 

The attacker stopped, turning back to Joel leaving Wilson gripping at his mangled bleeding face. Adults finally saw and tried stopping the attacker but it slammed the locker door on Joel's head, when that only hurt Joel the attacker kicked the door so hard that it crushed Joel's head killing him. Pieces went everywhere around and in the locker. The attacker escaped the teachers that saw him by running out of the school doors and into the street. A truck came by at top speed while the attacker with the indented face was escaping. The driver must have not noticed because it kept driving.

This was the news channel the day after. A woman with a man beside her handling papers sat behind a desk with the news logo on it.

"Today we have tragic news," she said with a depressed tone in her voice " Two teens Henderson Wilcon and Alvin Todd are missing, last spotted walking down Shelton street"

The man spoke, "We have three children dead two murdered one hit by a speeding truck. All three were also seen walking with the two missing ones. Joel Backlen and Wilson Tony were murdered by their fellow student Chad Tufman who on the night before had his face caved in by a blunt weapon, while escaping the scene was killed on impact by a truck."

This is just a normal site for the mall on Shelton street.
