34 Making Dessert

When Luna finished arranging her things inside the luggage, she immediately went outside her room and walked hurriedly downstairs. A pen and a note pad are in her hands with her excited expression as she continued to think about her ideas.

In the living room, Ryle saw Luna with an enthusiastic expression he had ever seen in her.

"Huh, I can definitely see how your eyes were twinkling," Ryle said.

Luna ignored him and sat beside him on the red long couch and started to ask questions.

"You know Akiro and Miss Zione for so long, right?" she asked.

Confused, Ryle still nodded.

"Not that long but I knew them for a few years," he said.

"Hmm, I only started to stay here for not less than a month. I'm curious about their powers, do any of them uses water element and ice as secondary?" Luna asked.

"I don't really know about Akiro since he rarely shows his powers. It's only a few spells and he's so mysterious. About Miss Zione, I'm sure that she uses a water element. She indeed has ice powers but," Ryle said.

He looked around them and when he's sure that no one's looking, he lowered his head towards Luna and whispered.

"She forbids herself from using it. Don't ever talk about it in this mansion," Ryle continued.

Luna's face fell and her expression looks like it turned into a negative hundred degrees Celsius from the usually normal body temperature. It looks like she wouldn't be able to do her first plan. But that didn't mean that she wouldn't have her second plan. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be as satisfying as the first one.

Since she didn't have anything to ask anymore, Luna stood up wearing her gloomy face.

"Then I'll leave you here, I still have something to do," Luna uttered.

"That was it? Well, I don't have anything to do. I'm curious about what you're planning," Ryle said.

Luna started to think about it. She's planning to enter the kitchen but she didn't know the persons that work there and didn't know how to start a conversation with them. It would look bad if she suddenly uses the kitchen without saying a word. Since Ryle is a friendly person, it's not surprising if he knew every person there.

"Well, follow me," Luna said.

They both walked towards the kitchen for about half a minute. There are not many rooms on the first floor of the mansion but it's wide enough to be lost for a few hours or so.

But it's the kitchen they're talking about. Aside from the dining room, she knew where it is because she once saw the opened door on the end of the dining room that's opened the last time she took a glass of water.

When they reached the closed door that leads to the kitchen, Luna suddenly stopped and turned towards Ryle.

"Wait, do I need to have Akiro's permission to use the kitchen first? Since I'll use a few ingredients inside," Luna said.

However, Ryle shook his head.

"Don't worry, I'm a hundred percent sure that he'll not get mad even if we don't tell him. It's you that we're talking about. Anyway, he has lots of money and it wouldn't hurt to use some of the ingredients," Ryle said.

Luna isn't so sure at first but she chose to not disturb him. He earlier said that he would be busy so disturbing isn't a good idea. Who knew if Akiro would add more training into her if she accidentally incurs his ire.

And about training, she'll do it later. Aside from practicing to teleport, reading the information, and learning other magic wouldn't take long if Luna's the one practicing it.

She opened the door and saw the idling chefs and servants inside. It's still afternoon and far from dinner although a few of them were baking bread. Still, she thought that it's the right time to invade the kitchen.

The kitchen is wide enough to move for such quite a huge number of servants and chefs. Utensils and ingredients are laid beautifully on the wooden counters and Luna's sure that all of the things inside are quite expensive.

Suddenly, Luna thought how could Akiro save money if he casually spends a lot of it. The last time they went to market, he didn't even worry about the price of everything he wanted.

"Hello, Main Chef Aster!" Ryle shouted.

'I'm indeed not wrong,' Luna thought.

Ryle started explaining how Luna would want to use a part of the kitchen for a while.

The main chef didn't hesitate and let them do what they want.

"Is the miss here knew how to cook?" Main Chef Aster asked.

"I know a few and I'm not that good however I'm great at doing a certain dessert," Luna said.

Some of the servants and the main chef looked curiously.

Then an imaginary lightbulb appeared above her head.

"Do any of you use magic for cooking?" Luna asked.

"Of course young lady. In fact, I use my fire magic and it makes a huge difference when cooking!" Main Chef Aster said.

Luna's eyes lit up. "Then do any of you have a water element and ice as secondary?" she asked.

The Main Chef hesitated for a while. Luna almost thought that no one uses such an element but he sighed and pointed at a person.

The man who is suddenly pointed is nervous and his hands seemed to shake upon the sudden attention given to him.

"He's an apprentice chef. His name's Reece Six Lewis. He has ice magic but I'm not sure if he can help you," Main Chef Alster said.

Luna could understand what's the main chef is pointing to. It looks like he just became an apprentice for more or less than a month. Nonetheless, it's not his cooking skills that she needed. It's his ice element.

"Can you show me if you can make a block of ice this big," Luna said.

She stretched her hand into half the size of a ruler. To her delight, the man nodded but he did it with an anxious, shy, and flustered expression.

Then, he showed her how he regularly makes the ice block.

"Recently, an expert chef that uses an ice element retired because of old age so he recommended his grandson. It is him who has good skills but his nervousness often took action before he's able to showcase a cooking skill. We do have small storage of ice but it's more convenient if at least one person has ice magic. We use it for cold desserts and drinks during summer but," the Main Chef said.

He looked at Luna confusedly.

"Young lady, do you want a cold dessert in the middle of winter?" he continued.

"Right, what are you planning Luna?" Ryle asked.

Luna ended up looking awkwardly. "It's not that I want a cold dessert. Uhm, I'll just experiment for a while if that dessert will work out and I'll just taste a bit. It would be saved when the winter season ended," she answered.

She now knew a disadvantage of the winter season. It's that she wouldn't be able to eat ice cream many times!

"Do you have a tool that can shave the ice?" Luna asked.

"Shave the ice? I'm afraid I don't know of such a tool," the main chef said.

"Why do you need it?" Ryle asked.

Luna's face twitched and didn't know how to answer them. How is she supposed to explain its appearance? She pondered for a while and finally thought of an appropriate explanation.

"It's like snow, the snow outside. It's shaved ice but it's impossible to use the snow outside right?" Luna said.

"A-ah, I have a solution," the man named Reece Six said.

He opened his hands and pointed them at the block of ice. In a second, it turned into shaved ice that Luna wanted to.

"Great! Then I'll be needing you to place several blocks of ice into small bowls and turn it like that," Luna said.

"Where're the bowls," she uttered.

"I'll get it!" Ryle said.

As if he's overly familiar with the kitchen, it's surprising that he easily located a few bowls into a cabinet on a wall within a minute.

He placed it on the counter in a neat line.

"Do you have a pitcher of orange juice or a different flavor," Luna asked.

"We have! Henry, go get the orange juice and berry juice inside the 4th cabinet," the main chef ordered.

The man nodded and took two big pitchers of juice.

Luna finds a huge wooden spoon herself. She wanted to get the juice herself but the main chef already ordered a servant.

When the ice was ready inside the five small ceramic bowls, she poured out some juice into the shaved ice and mixed it a little.

Three berries flavored shaved ice and two orange ones. The berry was red and Luna thought it looked like strawberries.

She ran towards a box full of berries that's similar to strawberries and put each on top of the shaved ice.

"My first home-made dessert shaved orange and berry-flavored ice dessert! I'll make real ice cream later on and I'm sure you'll like its taste," Luna said.

"Come on taste it," she continued.

All of them took a spoon near them. Luna took a whole bowl for herself while the main chef decided to share other bowls to let the others taste the dessert. For Ryle, he took a smaller bowl and took a portion in the big ones.

Luna's eyes lit up upon tasting the shaved ice. Then she excitedly looked around her and their eyes were sparkling.

"Amazing! Young lady, this dessert will definitely cure the thirst in the summer season!" the main chef said.

Even though it's winter, they finished all of the shaved ice desserts inside the kitchen. However, some ended up staying near the fireplace because they felt the chill of today's season.

Nonetheless, Luna shook her head disappointingly.

"Novices," she uttered.

Nobody knew that she secretly ate ice cream during cold seasons on Earth. Even her mother failed to find out about it.
