From the moment Jonathan read that message, he struggled with the decision of calling Kevin... or maybe not. He simply wanted to check with him, just in case, Lyrical was actually with Jennifer right now.

Eventually, Jonathan decided to call Joey instead or better talk to Melody. He was sure Melody would know something.

Talking to Kevin would be his last resort. Jonathan would talk to Kevin only when he felt like he had run out of all options.

Which was obviously, not the case right now. Jonathan firmly believed Joey and Melody would solve this problem and save him from getting slaughtered by the Dike family.

When Joey called Edwina's phone, Jonathan begged Melody to locate where Lyrical must have had gone and get her back before her family suspects anything.
