2 First Target

I gulped as I looked around the room. Everything is such a mess and can't blame anyone but me. Trashes of cup noodles are almost at every corner, empty cups and used plastic cutlery are also no less.

Nobody would have guessed this dirty ass room is a young noble detective's house. Well, used to.

Ex-detective.

I'm no longer on duty and, probably, would never be able to.

Being a detective has always been my dream as a child. Thanks to my grandparents, who took care of me, I could go to a proper school and graduated successfully. Everything was peaceful. I was at my peak moment of life. But it was not long until they snatched it.

If only I could turn back time, I'd rather not to sneak around and put my nose on people' affairs. It doesn't worth at all. It's not worth everything that I was put through–all the beatings, invectives, and abuse. No one is helping me, though, they know it is clearly not my doing. Nobody is willing to. Actually, it's logical because their pride and job are on the line. But still, it does not justify them to close one eye.

This is foul.

My life has been a mess since then.

Not even my family nor relatives want anything to do with me. They just hate me that much. For ruining their happiness by something that I didn't even do.

I still remember the day they fired me. How they mistreated me with their lame excuses. And threw me inside the jail for months. I should be thankful, they said, because it wasn't for years. Hah, don't make me laugh. Nine months is all it takes to turn my life upside down.

"Bzzz"

My phone is buzzing, waking me from my nostalgia of that day. Something that I wish I could forget forever. However, for all the things that happened, it does favor me well. It gets me stronger. I learned the hard way.

"Yes? It is Yamada Ryosuke speaking" answered me as I moved a few files away from my seat.

"Everything is ready. I found him."

Smile spreading through my face. Finally, good news. This is a great start.

"Good. I will personally execute the plan. Thanks" I said, ending the call.

Now I just need to wait for another two to three days before I can get him to join me. It wouldn't be easy but he is the best prey to start with. If I could get him, the rest would follow. Nothing must go wrong. Time is running out. Real fast.

I grabbed my dark blue jacket and cap, then, get going.

Riding my old car feels weird. It's rusty and doesn't feel good at all. But, this is the only way to go unnoticed. Thankfully, I've replaced the windows to the dark ones so nobody would be able to see what's inside while I can observe things outside peacefully. There would be no need for me to be worried about getting caught. Also, I have created a brand new licenses carrying my fake name–Takamori Ryuji. Nobody would ever found out about me. They won't be able to put me inside those bars anymore.

My eyes glued to a tall building nearby. Its entrance is fully protected by a group of well-built guards. They aren't easy to deal with of course. Fret not, I've been learning that building including all its securities and what to avoid, in order to, not making any tiniest mistake. The security system is unbelievably impressive. As expected of CH Corporation, I must say. They are leading the industry when it comes to technology and business. They know what they're doing.

It's already 2.30 pm. It's about time for him to appear. Looking carefully, I finally able to spot a figure of a young but not so tall man, coming out from the building. He's alone. Aha, bingo. If he would be this easy, I might just go for it today. He's walking to a café right beside the building and grabs a cup of coffee.

Soon, Ryo, soon you'll be fine, I murmured.

Now, I shall get going, following the car that took him. Trailing him secretly in a fast but steady pace, we finally arrive at an abandoned house. What a perfect place. He walked out of the car alone and get into the house carefully. I waited until his car left, then, get my things as I prepare to go inside the house.

It was extremely quiet when I arrived inside. There is no sense of his presence, which is weird. I walked slowly, not knowing which room should I check first. As I see continuous footsteps towards the stairs, I followed them and coming up to the second floor.

"Who are you!?" asked him surprised.

He's in front of me now, unarmed.

I tried to knock him down but he managed to get away and instead, he tried to push me down. We exchanged a few punches here and there and knocking off all the furniture, breaking them.

"Looks like I underestimated you, Chinen-san," I said, spitting out blood on my mouth.

His eyes baffled and in a split of a second, I manage to pin him to the wall. Thanks to him being confused over nothing.

"Who on earth are you!? Tell me who paid you, I'll pay you ten times over. No, even twenty." he commanded.

I laughed over his offer and let my hand off his throat. "I'm my own man. And soon, you will join me."

He is coughing while trying to catch his breath. "Insane. Don't you know who I am? Aren't you scared for doing this? Shameful. I'm gonna get you jailed for life."

Interesting. I didn't expect him would last this long after all the fights we've had. Indeed, he's breathless now. But he still has the energy to continue, if I insist on fighting him. All I knew is he's such a spoiled brat–he is the son of a conglomerate, so it isn't new– who is well known for his intelligence and how well he abides by the law. To be fair, I know other stuff as well but regarding his character, that's all.

"Chinen Yuri, aren't you? The only heir of CH Corp. Graduated from Oxford at such a young age. Always abide by the law and popular among women as you are such a gentleman" I said calmly.

He scoffed. "If you're saying those, it's either you must be sent by him or you just don't know me."

He, questioning my credibility of knowing him, really gets on my nerves. Months of secret investigations and he just brushed me with 'you don't know me' nonsense really pissing me off but I have to hold it. I've expected the worst, that he wouldn't buy what I planned to say, but I still don't understand who he is referring to. Guess I should go for it and play along as he must be someone important to our dearest Chinen. I can see hatred in his eyes when he mentioned him. Alright, Ryo. You have this, you cannot lose.

I smirked at him and decided to play along, for now, "Why do you think so?".

"Who else in the world would say that and attacking me here, of all places." He said, sounded full of resentment.

He is loathing that particular person so much and looks like this house carries an important role as well. This is quite a valuable info. Seems like I still have a lot of homework to do. But, I definitely will make it a success. He will join me in a few days, I'm sure of it.
