26 CH 26: It's a-me, Mario!

Yo, everyone. I just got a kitten yesterday. She is a black and white, 3 or something months old. Do you know what I named her? Ezio! And just like Ezio, she is damn good at hiding and jumping around. She is still unfamiliar with our home, so I'm still befriending her. The little bitch woke me up several times at night XD.

(Ali's POV)

As we all walked out of the brothel, my eyes nearly popped out when I saw my mini map. I mean, who wouldn't?! there were red dots EVERYWHERE! Our position was literally filled to the brim with guards!

Thankfully, though, none of them were hostile since we were incognito. Seeing my weird change of emotion and mood, Ezio gently placed her hand on my arm and whispered :"hey, what's going on? Did something happen?"

I glanced at the group of guards just across the brothel as I muttered in a voice that only we two could hear :"merda (shit), the guards are EVERYWHERE… stay as close as possible, alright? meno male che abbiamo ascoltato Paola (thank goodness we listened to Paola)."

After seeing how serious I am, she nodded as she turned to her mother and sister :"stay close, alright? We don't want to get into any fights. Let's follow Ali. Ali, per favore, fai strada (please lead the way).

As we walked and tried to act as natural as possible to not get the guards suspicious, although it was hard to do with those annoying, bitch ass musicians, we finally reached the city gate. But unfortunately for us, there were dozens of guards at the gate.

I guess the city was in a lock down. Not surprising with just how much chaos me and Ezio have caused. Claudia cursed in a hush voice :"merda (shit)! What are we supposed to do now?! Ali? Ezio?" Ezio looked at me and nodded with a serious look.

I smirked back as I looked at Claudia and nodded at the group of brothel courtesans who knew very well on how to do their job and what they should do if they are paid for :"well, Claudia. You have to Improvise, Adapt and Overcome."

I pst at the group of courtesans who immediately looked over and knew what they should do after I nodded sneakily at the guards and threw a bag of gold at them. One of them caught the bag of 150 florins as she giggled and signaled the girls to do their job.

And boy was it effective! Every guard who was guarding the door left his post almost immediately and came over to see the courtesans who were putting up a free dance in front of them. "alright, let's go!"

I shushed at our group as me and Ezio led the unarmed ladies beside Ezio out of the city. After getting out of the city and walking away for some time, Claudia asked with a sad and nervous voice :"how could this have happened to us…"

But Ezio wasn't any better than her. In fact, she may be even more nervous than her :"I don't know." She said impatiently.

Claudia :"will we ever be back…"

Ezio :"I don't know."

Claudia :"what will happen to our house…"

Ezio :"I don't know!"

I decided to end this unnecessary and misplaced argument as I gently held Ezio's delicate and soft but strong and reliable at the same time :"calm down, Ezio. She is just anxious, just like we all are. We should be calm and figure out what is the best action."

As Ezio had already stopped and had turned around, Claudia looked at her with sad and almost tearful eyes :"were they… were they given a proper burial?" that question seemed to have caught aunt Maria's attention as well.

And they both had relieved expressions when Ezio nodded :"yes. They were…"

(Tuskana 1476) <I honestly don't know for how long they traveled. Hours or days, just ignore that part.>

After some time of us walking in silence of both sadness and seriousness, Ezio said :"we should be close." Which immediately got a reply from the spoiled girl :"Grazie a Dio (thank god). <you thought it was god, but it was actually me, DIO! XD>

It was late, around evening or even later when they saw the city wall from afar. But something else was in sight as well. Something very, VERY unpleasant. Vieri and dozens of guards were walking towards them.

Vieri :"buona giorno (good day), Ezio!" Ezio put her hand in front of aunt Maria and Claudia to protect them while I did the same as the guards began to circle us and Vieri's disgusting voice came again :"how could you leave Firenze without saying a proper goodbye?"

"Ezio!" Claudia's voice sounded as a few of the guards went behind us. Ezio signaled for the two to get closer before she looked a Vieri with disgust :"what do you want, Vieri?" but what did you expect in response from that dog?

Vieri :"so many things! A larger palazzo, two new steeds, a prettier bride… oh and of course, Ali's life and you in my bed!" I felt my blood boil as I immediately went for my dagger and pulled it out by my right hand before readying my left hand for the use of my hidden blade!

Even though this world followed so many of the game's rules, it still was a real world and I could use multiple weapons at once! But even though he drew his sword, he still seemed to want to humiliate us as only two guards came at us.

But of course, there wasn't any rest to that disgusting and wrenched mouth of his :"my condolences for the loss of your father and brothers! What will happen now that there's no one left to help you? I have such wonderful things in store for you, your mother and your sister!"

As I easily dodged the immature swing of the guards sword and killed him after tightening my hold on the dagger and swinging it right at his neck and slashing it, he died as he grabbed onto his neck which had blood spurting out of it.

Even though I was busy, but not much by the weakling here, I still had an eye out for Ezio's safety. And saw how she clawed her hand and moved it to his head before releasing the hidden blade and piercing his neck, successfully killing him after dodging his slash.

I laughed at Vieri with a mocking face :"hahaha, is that idiotic trash talk your pitiful effort of trying to rile us up into making us commit a mistake? You're really bad at it. In fact, so bad that your mother and sister could make better sentences with hazy minds while in bed with me!"

He gritted his teeth as he lost once again in trash talking and decided to play dirty as he saw my cocky smirk :"I grow tired of this game. Finish him. And do not spare the women. It's not worth the trouble."

But as a few of his guards rushed at us with their blades ready to attack, they all suddenly started falling to the ground like rain drops. My beautiful teeth flashed as I smirked victoriously as he looked around :"what sorcery is this?!"

But he got a laughter in response from a rather cheerful but old voice :"hahaha, not sorcery, boy. Skill!" Vieri raised his sword and pointed it at nowhere as he shouted at the voice :"show yourself!" and he got his request granted after a knife hit his sword and shot it away :"as you wish!"

A middle aged man who I immediately recognized rushed to our side along with a few men who wore the mercenary custom and threw a sword at Ezio :"here! Use this!" Ezio grabbed the sword by the handle as she got ready for battle.

I snorted as I looked at Vieri with a smirk of contempt and provocation :"what happened, Vieri? You've gone rather pale. Are you alright? Let me check how's your health with this dagger to your neck, Gahba (whore)!"

"kill them! Kill them all!" Vieri shouted before he started running away like how he does just like a dog with his tail between his legs when he saw the middle aged man draw his sword and run at him. Oh wait! His tail fits perfectly now there since I destroyed his balls!

As the guards attacked us like idiots, we prioritized protecting the unarmed ladies as we fought the guards. My weapon of choosing for now was my extremely sharp dagger since it didn't need that much skill to use.

So I would make quick work of the small fries as I just attacked the one that came at me and stabbed him multiple times in the chest after grabbing his hand and locking it in place with my strong arm and killed him.

Me and Ezio both made quick work as we just moved to their back and would kill them from there. It didn't take long nor any casualty to kill them all since they were just small fries. After taking down all of them, we both walked to our benefactor.

Ezio held out the sword for him to take with one hand under the handle and one under the blade as she bowed a little in appreciation :"you have our thanks." But even though I knew the man, Ezio was surprised when the man shook his hand and nodded :"keep the sword, Ezio."

"do I know you from somewhere?" Ezio asked the man who had the assassin's symbol on his shoulder and a scar over his left eye who pointed at himself with both hands :"don't you recognize me? It's a-me, Mario!"

"uncle Mario?" Ezio said in shock and surprise as Mario walked up to her and lifter her up after hugging her with a cheerful voice :"it's been too long, nipote (niece)! Far too long! I heard what happened in Firenze... terrible. Come. Let's get you all away from here."

After reaching the city gate, Mario finally talked :"so, tell me everything!"

Ezio :"they executed father for treason. Federico and petruccio too. Then they came for me. And because of me, they also came after my lover who is always with me. Let me introduce you. This is Ali Ashborne, my lover and fiancé. He is a foreigner. "

Ali :"hello, uncle Mario. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Mario :"the pleasure is all mine, Ali. I see that you truly love my niece if you are willing to go this far for her. I hope that you will continue to do so."

Mario :"good, good. I'm glad to hear that. Now, Ezio, do you know why?"

Ezio :"I have no answers, uncle... only a list of names taken from a man who wished me dead. I still can't believe they are gone…"

Mario :"don't worry. We will make sense of this."

Ezio :"sigh, I wish I shared your optimism."

Mario :"come on, keep pace! We're almost there. I think you will find much to like in Monteriggioni <and another name that is going to be a bitch, huh?>."

Ezio :"I thought Monteriggioni was an enemy of Firenze…"

Mario :"*scoff* for now, next year it will be its friend. The year after its enemy again. And on and on. I cannot keep track. So I have stopped trying. These are honest, hardworking people. Our shops may only carry simple goods, but they're well made and dependable."
