The Promise of Forever

Liam went back to Alex' side. He hugged her again, but this time gently, afraid that he might overreact and hurt her. He kissed her forehead and lifted her chin so they meet eye to eye. "I love you so much and there would be nothing in this world that can take you and this little Liam or Little Alex in your tummy away from me. There is no way that I will let you face the circumstances alone. You're not pregnant, WE are pregnant. I would love that you share all the happiness or pains that you will encounter in this new journey of our lives."

With tearful eyes, she gave him a peck on the lips. "I'm sorry for having doubts. Auntie Rina said that being sentimental is part of this journey. Maybe it also came from my fear of how dad, my stepmom and stepsiblings would react." she explained.

"You don't have to worry about that. You know how much Uncle Tom loves you. And with your stepmother and stepsisters? Don't mind about them, my Cinderella. Hehe. They don't matter anyway. And once again, I'll stay with you through whatever comes our way." Lance said while caressing her tummy and looking at it from time to time with eyes full of love.

Alex smiled and wiped her tears.

"But give me time to tell this to my mom and dad. Dad was confined in the hospital and mom was taking care of him. She was still shocked of what happened and I don't want to give her another surprise. You know how weak her heart is," Liam said

"I understand."

"But I know they will love that little bean inside your belly who will inherit the good looks from the father." he continued with his chin up smiling proudly.

"There he goes again..." Jenny interrupted.

"Hahaha!"

The three laughed loudly with Liam's arrogance and Jenny's annoyance of him being so proudful. They continued enjoying the food served to them and sang their heart out with their all-time favorite songs in the videoke. That served as their mini celebration of the first of the greatest blessings from God. They talked about their plans for upcoming check ups, their wedding, choices for the baby's name and the baby stuff they need to buy.

It was a fun-filled afternoon that they never realized it was already dark outside. Liam went back to the hospital's basement to get his car so he can send the two to Jenny's house. They decided to have a sleepover and Alex had already informed his father about that. She did not want the presence of her stepmother and one of her stepsisters to ruin today's mood.

While brushing her hair and getting ready for a movie marathon, Jenny suddenly spoke. "You know what? why don't you just buy a condominium unit? I don't think you'll be at peace with someone like Lucy and that she-who-must-not-be-named stepmother of yours with you in the house."

"I've already thought about that. It was really suffocating that I'm the legit family member but they are the ones who were bossing around, except for Hailee of course. Maybe the kindness Hailee and I have came from our common father. I just need to speak with my dad about this," Alex calmly replied.

"I can't believe Lucy can be that wicked. However... what goodness can she have when she has a mother like that, right?" Jenny irritatingly said upon remembering all the things Lucy did to her very best friend.

"No need to worry about her. It's on me. I already had plans ever since they showed their true colors in front of me. I have not investigated yet but they might have something to do with the death of my mother. Or she was just gone missing? We still don't know." Alex said with eyes intending to kill.

"Okay. Let's cut this off. Your baby might be angry when he comes out. Hahaha"

"Whatever! Hahaha! But, let's just let them enjoy everything while they last. I'll lie low for now for this little bean inside me. They'll have their own time."
