Check Up

Liam was in the hospital the same day due to his father's condition. His father passed out earlier while in a corporate meeting. The doctors were still checking his condition to see the probable cause. They examined his health records as well to see some connections. Liam went out of the room to relax his mind and breath some air.

Being an only child, his dad had been his first bestfriend, confidante, coach to almost anything. They shared a lot of good memories and seeing him as weak like that inside the hospital room is somewhat new to him. He'd known his father to be a healthy and active man. He thought it was a simple pass out from overworking but he was not waking up for four hours already. He thought that it might be an illness which only came out when it severely damages one's system.

'Ugh! This overthinking won't help. My dad needs my support and strength!' he said yo his self.

He went downstairs to buy some food outside the hospital. As he reached the last step to the ground floor, he saw two familiar faces coming out of a clinic from afar.

'Jenny? And... Alex? What are these two doing here?' he thought.

He was about to yell their names to catch their attention but he remembered where he is. So as not to make a scene, he just walked as fast as he could to catch up to them but he was unable to. He stopped in the clinic where they came out. He frowned as he noticed the name that is written on the door.

DR. RINA AYALA

OB-Gynecologist

He thought they just paid a visit so he went inside the clinic since he and Jenny's aunt were also familiar with each other.

Liam: Hi Auntie Rina! You have a client?

Dr. Rina: Well... lucky you. I'm just finished with my last patient. So what can I help you?

Liam: Patient? I thought I saw Jenny and Alex just got out of this clinic. So they were your last patients?

Aunt Rina became anxious and was thinking hard for an alibi. Knowing this boy's charm that she can't resist, she knew he'll do his best to spill it.

She can't be the first to tell! She just can't be!

A knock on the door was heard.

Yeah! Saved by the bell!

A hospital nurse came in and told her that she was being called by the Hospital Director.

Dr. Rina: I'm so sorry my dear Liam. It's urgent. I think you should just follow the two. Maybe they were just outside the hospital by this time.

Liam: Sure auntie. Thank you!

The nurse couldn't help but smile to him. But sorry for this poor girl because Liam did not even bother to look at her as he picked his phone to dial Alex' number.

Her precious smile: WASTED

Seeing an early rejection, she just went out pouting to continue her duty.

"Where are you? I'm here at the hospital and I just saw you left Aunt Rina's clinic. What happened?" Liam asked with an obvious worry on his voice.

"We just got outside the hospital and we're waiting for a taxi. Ahmm.. ah.. I.. can you just come here and let's talk somewhere else? It's hot in here and I'm a bit hungry too!" Alex said not knowing how to answer Liam's question.

"Sure. I'll be there in a bit."

She was afraid and not ready yet to see him but since he's already here, maybe this is God's destined time for her to tell him the truth. She looked at the PT kit with two lines in the indicator and the result and prescriptions from her check up with Jenny's aunt. She let out a heavy sigh.

A few seconds later, Alex was surprised with a peck on her right cheek from a person behind her. She looked and found her loving and handsome boyfriend smiling as they met their eyes. Agh! How she missed that face of his. They both became busy that they never realized that a week had passed without them seeing each other.

"Babe! You scared me! I thought someone just wanted to harrass me."

Alex said teasingly and hugged Liam while Jenny was rolling her eyes.

'Is this really my bestfriend? I thought she was depressed earlier and with just the sight of this hunky boyfriend of hers then as if they were alone and had no care in the world.'

Jenny muttered to herself. There were just times that she can't understand Alex. Or maybe, she really did not know just yet how love can make drastic changes in your moods. Haaay.. life of the NBSB. Tsk!

"Ahem-ahem! I thought you guys are starving? Are we going to eat somewhere or are we just going to wait for all the ants on Earth to come here and cover the two of you? Stop acting like you haven't seen each others in decades! Let's go! Ugh!"

Jenny exclaimed to the two love birds when she can't take the view anymore. Were they really trying to tell her that she's missing a lot through their actions?

Alex couldn't help but resist her laugh.

"Bestie, I promise to introduce you to my guy bestfriend when he comes back! He's an NGSB and I feel that the two of you will be a perfect match. You badly needed a lovelife, girl! So you won't always pester on our sweetness. And you will no longer be a third wheel too!"

Alex winked to Jenny. Jenny wanted to bury herself to where she stood that moment. Her bestfriend was really shameless!!!

Did she really have to say it in public? Argh! She could have slapped her if she was just a random girl. She gave Alex a death glare.

"Aaaaaw.. That was so thoughtful of you Alex! Why don't you do it ASAP? Seems like you're the most excited for the blooming of my lovelife huh?!" She sarcastically told Alex and Alex was just laughing hard knowing that her bestfriend were infuriated again.

"Okay, enough of that. By the way, there is a restaurant nearby which offers unlimited buffalo wings and fries and also serves frappes and milk teas. I know both of you love those so much so let's just go there. My stomach is already grumbling," Liam interrupted.

They were about to walk to the said restaurant when Liam stopped and seemed to forget something.

"By the way Jenjen, I'll check on my friends who will also be best suited for you so you'll have a reserve just in case Alex' friend won't catch your aloof heart," Liam said while he grinned teasingly.

Alex laughed so hard again and Jenny rolled her eyes again out of amusement to this couple. They were really aiming at that huh!

They happily walked towards the restaurant which is just a block away from the hospital. As they opened the door, Alex felt gloomy and remembered what she needs to confess.
