2 Mission

Five days. Its been five days since I've entered into the Chrysos' palace under the disguise of a maid. I was sent from the kingdom of Argenti. My mission; to kill Sophia Ambrosia, Princess of Kalliérgeia and bethroted of the crown Prince of Chrysos.

Why do I want to kill her? Well you see it's a long story.

The king of Argenti: the city of silver, wants his hidden daughter, Princess Anna, who no one knows about; to marry the Prince of Chrysos so that he will be able to take control of the two kingdom after their marriage and kill the Prince.

But that is impossible because the two country's are enemies so an alliance cannot be formed. But King Xander, my king is determined to have Chrysos: The city of gold, under his clutches as it is the richest kingdom.

And I know morally, my king is at wrong but Prince Constantine isn't all that innocent either. He is the reason why my mother is dead.

You see when Constatine was crowned Prince and heir to the throne, he was to pick a village to evade and conquer, a barbaric custom of the people of Chrsos and he pocked mine. The night of the evasion, I lost my mama and I could do nothing about it except to run away with the rest survival to the closest village.

My dad was a knight so he wasn't around much, neither was he on that night. He was assigned to protect the palace on that day. When he heard the news about our village, he came looking for mama and I but only found me as mama was dead.

He kept blaming himself since then for her death and I decided to become a Knight like him as I also blamed myself for mama death as I couldnt defend her. Papa wasn't so appreciative of my decision but after much persuasion, a year later ,he finally allowed me. Although it takes years to be a knight, I am still determined. Three years of training and being a common soldier finally is going to pay off.

How? you say. Well, the king has promised to knight me if I successfully carry out a mission. This mission. To kill Princess Sophia so that his daughter can disguise herself as another princess and take her place. Being Prince Constatine's bethroted.

And then a little accident will be faked after the marrige, resulting to the Prince's death and this would leave the kingdom in both Princess Anna and King Xander's hands making them the most richest and powerful rulers in the world.

I accepted this assignment because normally, it takes a soldier ten to fifteen years or more to become a knight. Knights are more higher than a soldier and richer. It wasn't also easy to become a knight and I had only been a soldier for three years so I jumped at this opportunity to be a knight quickly.

Papa wasn't so happy about the king's proposal but he couldn't stop me as I was twenty and no longer under him. Girls below the age of eighteen are still legally under their parents and are subject to them while males below the age of sixteen are the ones subject to their parents and can't do or engage in any thing without their parents consent.

I had been interviewed by an old lady who the maids called mother. She supervises all of the activites of the maids and made sure their jobs were done properly.

Normally, after an interview, she is to check if the details of the maid given were true.

Her parents, village, background, and so on but this normally takes days to do as she has other matters to attend to. So that means I had to do my job quickly and leave but the Prince together with his betrothed went on a tour round the kingdom as the Princess wasn't too familiar with the kingdom since she wasn't from here. I found this out the day I came here and now it's been five days and they still weren't back and time is running out.

I don't want to get caught. I've heard of things that happen to prisoners here especially female ones and I don't want them to happen to me.

I was currently lieing down on my bed in the maid quaters, looking up at the celing. It was past midnight and all others were asleep making the maid quaters to be filled with light snores.

I couldn't sleep, I was scared. An emotion an Argenti soldier isn't supposed to feel.

"Do not be scared of death". This is what they tell us every time we start a training but the truth is who isn't?

If I was caught, I could be killed but first tortured and I couldn't go back now without taking out my mission or I would be labelled a disgrace to Argenti and stripped of being a soldier. That, I couldn't afford.

I had a little bottle of cobra venom in my bag, hidden among my clothes. I just have to slip a little in her tea or whatever drink she takes then I would take my leave.

Mother says there is a possibilty the Prince and Princess would arrive tomorrow. I just jope she is right, so that I could get out of this godforsaken kingdom.

With that thought in mind, I blow out my candle and go to sleep.
