Shantanu accepts Bhishma as Son(Part 4)

(Satyavati and King Shantanu are walking in a garden).

Satyavati: What is this celebration for in our kingdom?

Shantanu: Today my son had returned to me,Satyavati.

Satyavati gets worried to hear this.

Shantanu: Twenty five years before the Ganga got married with me. As our child came into this world, she took him away with her but she had promised me that when he would be capable, she would bring him back to me.

(Satyavati becomes numb and there are tears in her eyes).

Shantanu: And you know what Satyavati, she fulfilled her promise today. It is his coronation today Satyavati.

(Shantanu looks at Satyavati).

Shantanu: Let's go Satyavati! I came here to bring you with me. Why are you looking at me like this?

Satyavati: I am looking at your face, my King! Everyday you used to become happy to come to me. But today you bring it yourself.

Shantanu: You are right, Satyavati! Today i am very happy. I am going to announce him as a king as soon as possible. After that i will be free from all the responsibilities and will spend my remaining days happily with you.

Satyavati: Ofcourse my King! Loving someone is the greatest pleasure for a woman. Getting ones's love is greatest fortune. I am blessed to have your love. Now i have no desire my King! We will build our own house on the river bank. I will do fishing and you will go to the market to sell them.

Shantanu chuckles: Just imagining what our ancestors will say when they will see that the queen mother of Hastinapur is selling fish in the streets of Hastinapur.

Satyavati: But my king, queen mother is the one whose son sits on the throne, other becomes the maid(says in a harsh way). And fishing and selling them in the streets like my father is better than to live like a maid in Hastinapur. I hadn't love you for any kind of favor, my king. I love my respect very much because after our marriage, my honor is your honor my king. I shudder when i think about future. What will be my condition when Devratha's wife will come to Hastinapur my king. Here i am the daughter of the chief of fishermen but in Hastinapur i would become a step mother of the king. And the step mother's condition becomes worse than a maid when the step son becomes the king, my king. What would be the condition of my sons. They will be left to be just the slaves of throne. My king under the big tree, not only small trees even grass don't grow.

Shantanu: I can not give the Devratha's right to your son, Satyavati.

Satyavati: But my king, Devratha just came here, before this i didn't even know about his existence. But when you had promised to make me your queen, since then my sons have right to become prince, my king.

Shantanu(becomes angry): what are you kidding, Satyavati. Devratha will be the king of Hastinapur, Satyavati.

Satyavati: Then i am helpless, my king. When you are done with the coronation of Devratha, come here to me my king. But if i live in Hastinapur, i will live only as a queen mother.

Shantanu: This craving will bleed out of your heart, Satyavati.

[by saying so king Shantanu goes from there.]

[Will Devratha become a king? Or will king Shantanu listen to Satyavati and will live with her?]
