16 Vigilante

Matthew approached a window at the back of the house which looked empty, "Homenum revelio", he cast wandless. 'Two people on the ground floor, three on the top floor. And 12 in the basement???' he wondered.

After opening the window with the unlocking charm he climbed into the empty room. The room was small and dirty, lots of garbage was laying around. With another "Homenum revelio" he located the gang members on his floor. One sitting by the Door another in a room directly opposite. With a "Muffliato.", he silently opens the door. The first guard by the door was luckily asleep. After stunning him with a whispered "Stupefy" Matthew approached the door with the last person on the ground floor. Spying through the keyhole allowed him to recognize a dark room with a few beds inside, on one bed is a body-like shadow. Matthew silently opened the door and stunned the occupant.

Now that he cleared the ground floor he started to search for the staircase to the other floor. The whole building was pretty dirty and run down. The doors were old with large Keyholes where someone could spy through. And even some holes in the walls and floors were there. He found a hallway behind another door, inside were two staircases one going up and one down. Before he takes care of the 12 people in the basement he decided to clear the top floor so he wouldn't get attacked from behind.

With another human revealing charm, he was able to locate the opponents on the top floor. After taking another 2 sleeping Gang members out he approached a door where the last person on the top floor was located. As he opened the door into a room which unlike the rest of the building looked pretty decent. With a desk, couches, and a strongbox, "Who the fuck are you?", asked the person inside the room. It was the guy with the sunglasses sitting behind the desk. He tried to pull out a gun. But luckily Matthew was prepared and quickly cast another stunner. He removed the bullets out of the gun and put them inside his trunk. He also broke the sunglasses because he could.

'That was close. I am not sure if any shield I could cast at the moment would block bullets. This should be the office, after I finished I should check it out.' Decided Matthew while leaving for the Basement.

Inside the basement were 12 Lifesigns, one directly beside the staircase. As he sneaked down the stairs he was spotted by a guy leaning beside a door which led outside the hallway, "Huh a rat sneaked into our Hideout, come here little guy and I will make it fast." Started the thug while readying the baseball bat that stood beside him.

'Huh, What a cliche. That was somehow anticlimatic.' thought Matthew as he cast another stunner and watched the thug drop to the ground. He also stored the baseball bat in his trunk, since free stuff is free stuff.

He checked with another "Homenum revelio" the location of the other 11 people. 'Strange.', wondered Matthew. All of them were behind the door. Pretty much close together. 'Are they cuddling or something?', before he opened the door he cast a shield charm and prepared himself for a large fight. The door was locked! He opened the door with an unlocking charm and slowly opened it before peeking in. But he heard nothing besides silent snoring and breathing and crying? While carefully observing the room he got angry.

Behind the door was a large room. There were no windows or anything. Into the walls where metal rings inlaid. On these rings were a lot of chains fixed. On rags on the floor were a group of young girls sleeping. They were chained onto the wall. The girls were dirty and some even had bruises on their bodies. The youngest among the looked younger than himself.

'These fucking assholes. They are not only drug dealers these are fucking human traffickers. I only planned to rob them of their cash and valuables so they could learn a lesson and I could gain some nice cash. But now, this changes everything.' He thought enraged. Matthew's moral compass was not heroic or anything. He didn't give a shit about running around and saving people even with his advantage of magic. Rather he would be focused on his personal gain like any normal person. But he also wouldn't go around and harm people randomly just for his personal gain. He was not a villain. But these Assholes deserved what was about to happen to them. Human trafficking especially children are one of the worst things.

First, he levitated all the assholes into the office and revived the first of them. "Enervate" he cast as the first thug woke up. "So you guys think abducting and selling girls is okay? Actually, let's see what you guys are thinking. Legilimens.", he cast as he stared into the eyes of his target.

He searched through the thugs' memories while becoming more and more proficient in legilimency. After the mind of the first thug was broken because Matthew was still inexperienced he continued with the next one. He searched for everything that was of interest to him without feeling any regret for them. Contacts, Information even some Martial arts education. Matthew continued to search and destroy the mind of every gang member until none of them were left.

'Although their mind is broken, experts into the mind arts should be able to gain some memories which could lead to me. Luckily there is another spell I can practice on them.' Pondered Matthew as he cast "Obliviate". He repeatedly practiced the Memory Charm on them. Sometimes he cast it intending to remove a few hours or minutes and sometimes their whole lives. After he was sure nothing of them remained, only their empty mortal shells, he looked around the office.

First, he opened the strongbox where he found over 3600 Pounds and a collection of different drugs. He put the cash into his trunk and levitated the drugs onto the desk so they would be visible as soon you enter the room. Next, he located on the body of the glasses guy a mobile phone. It was a bulky phone from Nokia. Nothing compared to modern smartphones he possessed in his first life. He made sure not to touch anything so he would leave behind no clues or fingerprints, well anything that could show his identity.

While leaving the Office he levitated the Mobile phone before him. He returned to the basement and put the phone before the sleeping girls. With another few casts of "Alohomora", he opened their chains and made sure to free them all. On his way out he opened every door and window he passed, so people would notice that something happened here.

The Girls were free and could call the police, and the Gangsters were taken care of. Hopefully, he left no clue behind. Matthew left the building and started to walk in the direction of his home. After all, it was time to catch up some sleep. It was late already. As he hurried home, Matthew didn't notice the red blinking light of a security camera on the other end of the street where he just passed. Even if he noticed he wouldn't think too much as his face was still hidden behind his hoodie.

After arriving home he climbed back through his window, closed it, and got ready for sleep. He happily fell asleep after this long and productive day.
