Chapter 1 - The Return

'Jump, Jump ,Jump ,Jump'

I could hear voices in my head, they all said the same thing 'Jump...' I resisted the urge as best I could but to no avail... my foot hovered over the ledge debating whether or not to end this perpetual cycle of despair. Until I did it . It was too late because only then did I remember her and her beautiful smile , but alas it was too late.

I dropped like a canon ball.

Slowly descending.

Death Awaited me.

It was too late.

I was scared.

I tried ,

And tried

And tried

And yet

I could do

Nothing.

Until

It Happened.

My time

Had come.

Silence...

Yet surprisingly , my eyes opened to a familiar sight... My Room but wait it was my old room. I looked around and could see familiar things. My orange toothbrush , my Xbox , My bunk bed ,my Nintendo switch even my old iPhone. I scoffed at those decade old consoles that were once state of the art .

'Was I transported to the past ? If so then , he should be here that gu-'

My thinking was suddenly interrupted when a skinny-ish figure walked into the room . "Hey josh , you look like you've seen a ghost " The figure said warmly .

'This skinny-ish figure was Jamie my roommate , I knew Jamie ever since I was a kid and he's the one who originally got me into Magord . I still have to thank him for that.'

"Hi Jamie , it's been a while huh,"

"What do you mean , it's literally been 2 hours dude,"

"Oh , yeh mhm , 2 hours,"

"What's gotten into you Josh , you seem so tired , did you stay up playing Mario Kart 8 again?"

"Shut up..." I said quite annoyed. Anyway I knew exactly what was going on , I had been transported to the past , specifically to when I was in University. This was before I eventually graduated and soon quit my job to become a full-time pro gamer.

"Jamie , what's the date?"

"Em let me check , it should be..." he quickly went to check the date on his phone and soon he replied "... 11/9/2019"

'It seems I've went back 7 years , which means this is when that is coming at , the most popular game of the century , Magord (combination of magic and swords Mag(ic)and (Sw)ord to make Magord , pronounced MayGuard) . At first I wasn't too into Magord and I only started playing when It had been out for 2 months roughly but I quickly fell in love with the game , it has unique mechanics , interesting bosses , fun side and main quests , unique NPC's and picturesque maps . It was the most unique game I've ever seen. I quickly became one of the best players until it happened , I became the best player of Magord , under the alias of 'Nerf Me'. Unfortunately because of those circumstances I gave up on life but now u have a second chance. I still have a chance to redo everything since this year marks the era of 'VRMMORPG's.'

VRMMORPG stands for Virtual-Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. In the year 2019 they invented the Cabin . This new piece of technology was revolutionary since it allowed people to immerse themselves fully into the game. Games like Fortnite and Minecraft and Overwatch (which were popular around this time period) would become quickly over shadowed by Magord. Games like those would also implement VR into the game yet it wouldn't work nearly as well as it did with Magord.

"Hey Bro I just bought this new game , I think it's called Magod or something-"

"It's Magord." Josh quickly interjected.

" Oh yeh that was it , I bought two cause I know you love games just like me especially RPG's so let's play a bit before the new semester , we've finished our exams for this semester anyways." Jamie Suggested.

I had owned a gaming cabin for about 2 months so I could play VR games but no actual good games had came out so I hadn't used it . The gaming cabin was a present from my dad before he passed away , so I treasure it and cleaned it everyday pretty much.

" Sure Jamie , I'll play for a bit , since we have about 1-2 weeks before the semester stars right ?"

"Yup , I'll get it setup. Also to get this game on release date and the limited edition version wasn't the easiest so you better help me since you're good at games like this. I also deserve a thank you." Jamie

insisted.

"Fine , thanks bro." I said , since he was so adamant on it. I mean I know just how hard it is to get the limited edition version of games all too well.

"It's setup." Jamie Said with a hint of excitement and expectation

Jamie had no idea he was about to play with 'Nerf me'. In the future everyone knew his name for one reason, and one reason only. He was the undisputed best player.

They both got into their respective gaming cabins and loaded up the game. Soon he was greeted by a very familiar screen. This was the character select screen , in this game there is only one race available at the start of the game , the human race. However , there are multiple classes , 7 in total . Cleric , knight , Gladiator , mage , Archer , Assassin and magic knight.

All classes have different unique aspects and skills.

The Cleric class was healer oriented and their skills would be mainly used to heal hp , heal mp and to buff other players. (Hp = Health Points & Mp = Mana points , you use mana points to use skills and Health points are your health quite self explanatory ). This class would be around the back in a team dungeon , away from enemies.

Knights and Gladiators are similar classes however they are different. The knight uses a one-handed sword to fight and a shield if they want , though it would sacrifice agility if a shield was used. However , the gladiator uses a two-handed sword which focuses less on speed but power and strength. Both classes would be around the frontline in a dungeon.

Magic knights are unlike the other sword using classes , it could inflict status ailments (E.g Burn , Freeze , poison , blindness...) and they can do DoT (Damage over time ).Though this class wouldn't be as strong as gladiators and it wouldn't be as fast as knights it would be a good mix between the two. They would be around the frontlines in a dungeon.

Next is the Archer class , the Archer class uses precision as it's key if you shoot an arrow and it hits the head then the damage would be multiplied by 1.75 so accuracy is really important for Archers . They have different skills that use magic to inflict status ailments. Archers would be around the middle in dungeons or team fights.

Assassins focus on being fast and agile but also adaptable , their play style would generally be passive but when a weak point is exposed they were switch to aggressive . Their skills focused on quick attacks and hard to notice attacks.

Finally there's the mage class , this class by far is the best class in terms of levelling speed . This classes best attacks are the AoE attacks since they can easily wipe out fields and hordes of enemies. They use magic attacks mainly and they can wield all types of elements: Lightning , Water , Fire , Earth , Air , Light , Dark. And if they had a special class they can inflict status ailments. In his past life this was the class he picked.

His hand slowly drifted over to a certain class.

"This one."

The system then transported him to the starting town city hall. Josh could see many players around him . This was because this was the countdown before the games launch , although players could login to the game they couldn't leave the city hall yet . When he looked around he could see a timer in the sky it read,

3 minutes and 22 seconds until launch.

Since there was still some time , Josh opened up his attributes panel.

Attributes are the basic building blocks for a character's combat ability. The four primary attributes are strength (STR), agility (AGL) , intelligence (INT) and vitality.

The secondary attributes focus on more specific things , Attack (ATK) , Magic Attack (MATK) , Defense (DEF) & Magic Defense (MDEF).

Since he was level 1 his character panel looked like this.

Without hesitation Josh used all of his skill points on Intelligence , as a mage having high intelligence is key as that correlates to what Staffs you can equip ( higher intelligence = higher items which can be equipped) but also MATK (higher intelligence = higher MATK)

Once Josh finished checking his character , he saw the timer and he saw there was still a minute or two before launch so he looked around at the players in the city hall. He could see some familiar faces.

Some of which would become very good players , Silent Wind , WaterWizard , Relentless.

Soon the countdown had started till the games launch ,

As soon as the countdown finished the doors of the city hall swung open and hordes of players swarmed out of the city hall. Soon enough there was only a lone figure who remained in the hall , it was Josh.

" Hello world , I'm back!"
