Unawaken! [Edited Redo]

Residents in the city of Eastern Grey look forward to each day as people bustle about with activities as if the world were filled with happiness. However, on the other side of the border's Eastern Grey, people who live in slums struggle to find food every day; some people beg for food, while others prostitute themselves to provide for their families.

After the apocalypse, the world shifted from a peaceful to a filthy place. A hundred years ago, a seemingly void rift unexpectedly broke up in the sky, bringing disaster to every country. Many races invaded their land with little time to prepare, nearly wiping out mankind, forcing them to hide and leave their homes to survive.

Humans were able to realize their full potential. They discovered that when a person reached the age of sixteen, their abilities might be awakened. Despite having no understanding of where it originated from, they started to grow. While researching ways to improve themselves, they accidentally obtained a cultivation manual from the other races. Even though the cultivation manual was not meant for them, they were able to utilize it as a reference and build their cultivation manual. Not only that, but they learn how to produce Elixer and a weapon capable of competing with the other races.

After a lengthy journey, they were able to reclaim some of their territories, and they were able to establish kingdoms and towns all across the continent. However, even though they were able to construct fortifications, they still feared the other races since they held more power than them.

In the area of the slum

Xue Bing grabbed Jiang Chen's hand as she pulled him up out of bed and said."Chen'er, hurry, we've got to go,"

"I'm coming, hold on, no need to drag me, "Jiang Chen yawned as he rose from his bed.

"Who told you to oversleep when you know that today is the day for you to see what ability you have?"

Last night, Jiang Chen was up all night, wondering what kind of ability he could awaken today.

An awakening occurred when you turned 16 years old, but not everyone can awaken; some people died of old age and never awakened. Of course, some wealthy people can simply purchase an elixir to forcefully awaken their abilities.

Inside the military, Jiang Chen bids farewell to Xue Bing.

"Good luck, Chen'er; I'll be cheering for you from the sidelines." Xue Bing said this with a smile, encouraging him.

Jiang Chen nodded as he said "Thank you, Aunty Xue"

Jiang Chen went inside the room, looking around the area. The place looked like a theatre with a big stage at the front, while there was a big crystal ball at the center. The people inside are divided into two groups. Jiang Chen can see that some people are the same as him who live in the slums, as they wear tattered clothes, while some people are wealthy-looking and it seems that they come from the inner city.

"Argh, I hate this place. If I had known there were going to be some beggars coming here, I would have chosen another day! " A wealthy youngster said rudely.

"I know, with all these scumbags here making it difficult to breathe, they stink like f***ing dogs."

Hearing this, Jiang Chen lowered his head and moved farther away from the wealthy-looking youngster, knowing that if he tried to stand out, nothing good would come of it. Anyone knows that if a person from a slum offends a person from the inner city, they will be killed.

The military school was created by the four great clans; they allowed anyone to attend with the hope of cultivating excellent saplings from the inner-city or slum. Nevertheless, even though the military school was for everyone, wealthy people looked down on those from the slum.

"Those who have awakened can pick whatever department they wish. We offer combat classes for those who have awakened with strong abilities, but those who are not fated with strong abilities can still choose to go to another department, such as Alchemist and Blacksmith. Everyone who wishes to join will be given a cultivation manual as a gift." The instructor yelled as he explained

Although the military school provided a cultivation manual, the military martial arts manual given to recruits was of a contemporary sort. It was a condensed version of another race's old martial arts manual. They can, however, choose to join clans or work for a clan that can give a superior cultivation manual after graduating from military school.

Then he continued, "This is an Orb of the Eye. It is an artifact that can determine what kind of ability you have. Alright, let's proceed. "

"Liu Yi Fei, you're first."

After the instructor said the group of wealthy youngsters was shocked to see such a figure, they knew that there were more prestigious schools other than this one.

The instructor said he was certain because all the Liu clans that had tested before had all the same ice Qi within them.

"Next! Jiang Chen!"

Jiang Chen ascended the stage, close to the orb. The instructor signaled him to touch the orb of the eye. Jiang Chen nodded and placed his palm.

After a while, his hand was still in the orb but nothing happened.

The orb of the eye remains blank.

The instructor frowned upon seeing this and then opened his mouth, "Jiang Chen UNAWAKEN!!!"

Hearing this, Jiang Chen felt all the energy that he had sipped out of his body!

All the wealthy youngsters laugh as if they won the lottery.

Jiang Chen trembled in anger but thought about what he could do, especially now that he was one of the unawakened people. Surely, his life could only suffer more if he made the mistake of offending this wealthy youngster.

One of the wealthy youngsters put their legs in the way and tripped Jiang Chen.
