41 Snow's Side Story

Snow's perspective

***********

I clenched my fist upon roaring those words towards Zync who was mischievous about the realm of magic. I too was interested on the knowledge that this 'magic' could offer. But apparently, a sole requirement was needed to fully awaken an individual's mana core. And such, proposing an alternative should be our priority.

"We humans tend to adapt under various pressure", I thought.

Both Zync and I are interested and willing to train, polishing our physical capabilities, in order for us to participate for the upcoming war under the supervision of the Dean, Phoenix.

Roughly, we only have a month left to actively partake on Phoenix's personal lessons.

"The training will begin tomorrow, before the roosters' crow the earliest." He said, as he swiftly departed.

Morning came and so did my brain. Half-asleep, I lifted myself up from the comfortable bed I was lying in, did my daily routine, and afterwards dashed hurriedly to our designated training area. The open field was kept ragged and smirched with foul odour released by the messy armours and rusty uniforms thrown from all directions, circulating the smell which engulfed my nostrils.

"Damn, Snow! Quit pooping like an old dog, will ya?" A familiar voice resounded my ear. Zync was waving in the middle with his free hand covering halfly his nose. Despite this ridiculous circumstances, his sense of humour still remained the same. I curled my lips upward in a smirking manner, unbeknownst to him, as i waved back to my goofy friend. "Guessed you can be early sometimes, ain't ya?" I replied softly in a mocking tone. "Who said i wouldn't?!" He retorted. We both stared at each other and began laughing endlessly to our silly conversation between us best friends.

"If ya'll noisy this morning, i suppose we should get started and waste no time then?" A voice coming from the unknown reverberates in both of our ears. Startled, we tried locating the origin of the voice but to no avail. Suddenly, a man in scarlet robe landed gracefully in our rear. His robes floated for a few seconds in mid-air, accompanied with small orange embers at the top of his cloth. Grey smoke clasps through our surroundings, making it difficult for us to perceive what was happening in our vicinity. The smog grew thicker, and so did his flames shone radiantly like the sun above.

He then flaps his cape, creating a grand entrance upon his arrival.

"Pheonix, reporting for duty" he stated out loud. Much to my perception, i had thought that our professor

Or rather the dean himself

was a respectful and fearful man befitting from his status. But this event took its turn as he...roundabout lifted himself like a monkey, trying to produce an exquisite heroic landing; which i find it amusing.

Despite his demeanour from what he just did, he then threw us a serious glance, more over a terrifying grin reaching out to the verge of his cheeks, and thus beginning our training regime

Huff huff huff

I wiped my drenched face with a towel, similarly soaked by the same sweat coming from my glands. Currently it's 7 A.M., when the sun had shone the earliest. We were tasked to repeatedly swing a wooden sword and block the incoming attacks of Phoenix himself.

"Lighter! Your movements are dull, you lack power, precision. That's a lot of unrelated body movements!" he proclaimed, clicking his tongue in dissatisfaction. Regardless of our muscles honed by meticulously lifting profound weights in our private gyms, we were clearly at a disadvantage against our teacher who was up facing two individual enemies at once, which was his students. It was training itself, observing our experiences on the potential of our current fighting style.

Zync's weapon of choice was a wooden sword, an unalarming threat upon direct contact, was used during the sparring session. Whilst on the other hand, i was given a long wooden stick which should have been my imaginary staff. According to Phoenix, I possess the largest amount of mana amongst any other students or be it the faculty members present in our generation. 'It was as vast as the sea', said Phoenix, who was still roaming around my vicinity, studying every inch of my very existence. He finally stopped when Zync landed a clean hit on his shoulder blades at his back, chasing his student down for a lesson of revenge.

We continued our training regime for around 3 weeks with less time to spare. The routinely enhancement that we had been performing since then proved to be useful for in and out of combat practises; for some circumstances wherein Zync had to swing his sword 500 times every day, slashing his downpour on every trees he collides, made him muscular and fit for his own physique . Fortunately as it seems, or rather in between, the sturdy trees which should've last for around a hundred years more being unharmed was mercilessly chopped by my surprisingly goof ball best friend. While I on the other hand would cast various beginners spells at the designated target dummies that my professor had preferred. These weren't just the ordinary dummies seen on the target practise field of the shooting range. These dummies prepared were corks and bullets resided at different locations…
