42 Chapter 41.1: Snow’s Side Story

"You're doing great, the both of you."

Phoenix's raucous wheezing could be heard through the apex of our ears, from the wide field where we had been training with. Practically speaking, we were clearly left behind from all what was left needed to understand and learn, revolving our training towards the sword and magic. We would all be dispatch on the third day, at the end of our training regime, according to our professor and at some point me and Zync had no idea on which we had improved on; if we ever did enhanced our capabilities.

Zync was fond of swinging the sword violently whilst casting various illusionary spells and body enhancement which was quite suitable for him, thus labelled as a "trickster knight" capable of handling foes from his swift schemes and tricks he has to offer in his sleeves while forging his mind and body amidst in combat. I myself had slowly built interest on the art of casting arcane spells which partners up, from what my professor had been praising me about, my high mana reservoir. Professor taught me some few tricks and tips on how to efficiently shorten the incantations of my spell and fortunately, it wasn't that hard at all! All I had to do was control a fine imagery of what the spell could look like then apply its origin of power. As for its incantations, Professor Phoenix told us, that we can shorten the amount of words said during the formation of the magic circle or spell which we had to offer. For an example, a combustible fire made from carbon dioxide, water vapour, oxygen, and nitrogen; forming these chemical properties, well actually remembering them, and thus igniting it with my own magical power. This resulted us from creating powerful orange coloured flames. Unfortunately I couldn't make my flames brighter as blue.

Basically, our imagery magic consumption would be focusing, on the palm of my hand to gather all of my magic residue, compiling all the necessary chemical compositions of a flame. Once ignited, the condense ember had been formed, I could both change it shape or form and accurately throw in (of course, in an elegant manner) the trajectory of my designated target/s. I continued improving myself by throwing off circular flames on the grey boulder, just near the lakes; in case of something could burn down.

Two days had passed from the hellish nightmare and thus concluded our hard day's work, and they have to prepare every equipment needed tonight for tomorrow's wage of war towards the so-called 'dark deception'

"Today, we shall rest! Tomorrow we shall fight! I would like all of you guys to come by around 7pm for dinner with me. You're free for the rest of the day, be gone!" Phoenix said, as he 'poofed' out clumsily from the white smoke which, miraculously appeared from ever aspects of his surroundings. We couldn't hold off for any longer as me and Zync both laughed hysterically on how awful our 'Master' professor's escape was dumb and uncool.

"So, what do you want do now?" asked Zync, as we walked our way towards the main hall of our school's department.

"I guess we can check out the equipment like…let's see" I drew an imaginary question mark sign right above my face.

"Fine by me!" he said excitedly, as he marched over our destination. 'I believe it's around here somewhere…AHA!' I monologue, and finally saw the shop keeper. Although professor mentioned us gearing up to the best of our content, he never actually gave us directions on how to. May be I should equip a gun and shoot the hell out of the monsters? A magnum with its 9mm bullet should do the trick, hm? Well, we do need to have lawful process of obtaining a permit, do we? As my mind ventured on this useless thought, and probably drifted to the mind of Zync, we finally went inside and…

"GOD DAMN, LOOK AT ALL THOSE PLATE ARMOURS AND SHIELD" never in my life had seen Zync so wild except for the time he mentioned that his childhood crushed dumped her for being ugly.

"Yeah" I gave in and head my way towards the various staffs and wands displaced on a practically sealed glass, which I think are imbued with magic that goes off, alarming everyone for any intruders who wishes to steal their merchandise.

"Greetings…uh, customers? Are you kids lost or…? And how did you know this place?"

The shop keeper implied, confused on our presence. Of course, who wouldn't be? We are just in high schools, and apparently wearing our uniforms (we did had the free day today, and we didn't mind wearing this once in a while).

We looked for the origin of the voice and turns out, a black muscular guy whose beard hadn't been shaved came across our direction. He's wearing a slick top that covers his huge plump of muscles and some sweaty jogging pants, probably around his 30's, I'd say? A little bit younger then Professor Phoenix by 3 years? He actually looks more like a person who'd frequently visit the gym rather than selling this wielded 19th century weapons like an antique collector.

"Did you just judge me, young boy?"

"Nope" I answered nervously as I shift my gaze towards the wands once again.

"Professor Phoenix told us to drop by here to gear up. Well, in any case, we're preparing for a war coming for tomorrow. Mind helping us out?" Zync proclaims, as he stupidly eyes out one of the morning star painted in black

The shop keeper scratches his head, visibly confused from what was going on.

"We are the president and vice president in high school. We know magic. If we didn't, then we wouldn't find this place in the first place" still fixated on different designs of the sorcerer's tools.

"Oh, is that so? HAHAHA~ sorry for doubting you. Better be safe than sorry, just in case the pesky Dark Deception's minions would spy out my beloved shop, I wanted to keep an eye out from everything" as he gave us a wink from his tired eyes.

"The name's Ron. Ron Steel. I'm the blacksmith in charge of this store. So what do you lads want?"

I roamed around once more upon he's acknowledgement towards us. What I need now is a wand that could be able to enchant my magical essence, amplifying the magical output multiple times as intended. For an example, a ball of fire shot towards sturdy rock would deal minimal damage, only warming up the stone. What I need is to make my fire element faster and stronger that could withstand a random rock, melting it like a magma underneath a volcano.

I voiced out my concerns and asked Mr. Ron a wand suitable from my descriptions. Fortunately, he told me that there could be a wand or a staff that matches my information and told me to wait, preparing the item to be delivered to me.

On the other hand, I noticed Zync's eyes are glued to a dagger with a little description encrypted below written 'kunai', right beside a unique sword called a 'katana' and other ethnic weapons. When he asked Mr. Ron about that unusual item, he answered us "That's a kunai, have you ever heard of it?" with a confusing look mocking our existence…or so I thought. Zync also requested the extra items, the katana and fog bombs for who knows what. He has his ways, and I won't question any of them. I'm just happy that he's enjoying himself after all this pressure.

Weapons, war, blacksmiths? What are these? Why are all this visible to our eyes? I thought that these blacksmiths were known back from 1500 BC, and even kunai's, if I remember it correctly was used by the late ninja who were probably hidden or unknown from their existence. Isn't this… a little too unusual?

I gulped down my thoughts as we me and Zync waited for our items to be polished and delivered within an hour, exemplified by the blacksmith Ron.
