41 Chapter 41: I am Tired

The newly formed living metal battleship was already charging energy. But instead of giving a steady energy supply to the one that was beaming the fleet. it simply kept building the charge and in about 10 seconds it was fully charged. It then transferred all that energy to the one Infront of it, the one that was shooting the beam. This caused a sudden spike in the power of the the beam that was bombarding the fleet.

" Sir, the shield generators are overloaded, the energy feedback will definitely fry the generators if we are hit once again. It was good that we used our strongest shields, otherwise we would have been done in by the burst of power."

It was then when the living metal started to charge again for another burst shot.

" Damn it, its getting for another shot. If it connects we are not going to survive."

" How long before the hyperdrive engines can get us out of here. ?"

" 40 seconds, sir"

" damn it, How long before the next shot ?" Alexander was clearly panicking.

" 20 seconds. Sir, how are we going to survive this",

It was then when a larger freighter ship containing highly volatile and unstable goods broke of from the fleet. It had also jettisoned a large number of escape pods.

" Sir, its captain Felix's ship. Scans indicate that there is only a single lifeform on the ship. All the other crew member are safe in the escape pods. From the logs of the ship, the one remaining is captain Felix."

" Get a line through, I need to talk to him."

"Sir, a channel is already open."

" Felix, what the..."

" Alex, take care of our mother. Its better to lose one son than losing both her son's. Bye Brother".

" Felix don't do...."

Before Alex could complete his sentence The heavy cargo freight went near light speed as it propelled itself towards the living metal battleship that was shooting the beam.

Alex watched tears slowly filling his eyes as the speeding Cargo vessel hit the attacking living metal. The initial impact shattered the cargo craft and the living battleship. But the living battleship that was shattered by the impact had already started to reform. But then a small flash was seen which was sucked in. followed by an enormous explosion that nearly broke the fleets shields.

The explosion so great that the living metals that were chasing the fleet was blasted into small pieces and separated.

Alex stood staring into the blinding light, he did not blink, It was as if he was trying to find his brother in the chaos. He knew that he will not even get a strand of his brother's hair. But Logic left him, the pain was slowly setting in, His eyes slowly started to fill up.

His vision slowly grew blurry with tears that were about spill. In the blurry view, he saw his brother for one last time as he saw the explosion slowly turn into his face.

" Sir, the hyperdrive is active and all the escape pods have been brought in", It was Alex's assistant. The Assistant knew that Alex was in pain, but for the sake of the fleet he had to remind Alex.

The tear that welled up in his eyes were now gone, In this situation he didn't even have the time to grieve.

" Jump as close as we can towards the Coalition immediately."

Alexander stood there watching the flames of the explosion till the fleet escaped.

" Prepare an analysis report for the encounter and do a case study of this new threat. We should be able to provide the coalition with every bit of information we can. Send it to my office, No one is allowed to enter it, I need some time alone."

Alex them walked back to his private office and locked himself in. He started to immerse himself in going through the incoming data. He was trying to drown his pain the work. He had to get rid of it and this was the only way he knew.

But in five minutes the door to his office opened. A Beautiful women walked in to the office.

" Alex are you alright", A serene voice fell upon the ears of the grieving man.

The lady was Mrs. Alexander, wife of Alexander as well as the head of the Medical Department of the fleet. She walked up to him and hugged him from behind.

" I am tired, Alice. I am really tired. I have lost too much today, too much. I don't know what to do. How can say this to mom. What the hell were those thing. It is as if they are a counter to the entire human civilization. What will we do in the future."

" I don't know Alex, It is tough and it is tiring. But through thick and thin I will be right here". Alice said as she slowly laid her head on to her husbands back.
