3 Governing a Village
==Rosaire Castle - Hares City==
Lucius who was in a good mood training in the courtyard was approached by a maid telling him that Lord Rosaire wants to see him in his Office.
Lucius immediately went to the office and asked Lord Rosaire why he asked for him, after a few minutes of discussion he asked lucius to manage sagard village for him to learn how to govern people.
==Rosaire Castle - Castle Yard==
"Young Master All your men has gathered and are ready to Depart" Said Cai Bowing.
"Let's Go then, All men! March too Sagard Village now" Lucius Commanded.
Lucius and His men were seen marching out of the city by many people but that didn't bother him he pressed on gallantly.
After a few hours they reached sagard village, lucius the ordered his men to construct a temporary fort near the village while he talked to the village elder about his appointment.
The village elder agreed immediately because he knew lucius was a capable noble after that he went to his tent and gave everyone of his officers a task to fulfill. Some officers were tasked with patrolling the village and roads night and day while others were tasked with building a permanent fort.
Cai was tasked with repairing and improving the village while Lucius surveys the surroundings of the village for good income.
5 km away from the village he found an iron vein and a small silver vein also so he planned the building of a mine their for the village to be productive.
3 months passed and the fort was 50% complete and the village has now a black smith, Adventurer's guild branch and a tavern/inn.
Sagard village was now surrounded by a stone wall attached to a uncompleted fort while the mine was providing gold the village's income comes from the adventurers and mercenaries staying there.
But good things don't last longer lucius's scouts reported that a wave of monsters will soon come to the village he then acted quickly asking adventurers and mercenaries to join his forces to fight the monster wave he also ordered the citizens not to stay too late outside the walls and he also doubled the patrol guards roaming the walls and roads.
"Young master the monster wave is 5 days from here that's the latest report today" Cai reported.
"Okay inform the guild and mercenaries" Lucius commanded.
"As you wish sir" Cai replied.
The guild, adventurers,mercenaries were so busy preparing for the monster wave that productivity in the village halted but lucius had a plan he asked the villagers to help them set up defenses and he will pay them daily for their help.
with everything set up and the fort 55% done, they could withstand the monster wave, Lucius positioned his archers on the walls for support while some of his footmen guards the gates and barricades and his cavalry are at the sideline for a surprise attack.
The adventurers and mercenaries were positioned outside with lucius, cai and his men they waited for an hour until,
*Stomping Sounds*
*Monster Roars*
"Men Hold your Ground!" Lucius commanded.
Minutes Later Monsters appeared preparing to charge Lucius and his men.
Lucius ordered everyone to stay in there positions while his archers rained down arrows on the monsters to lessen them.
this strategy worked but the monsters are not backing down so he ordered the trebuchet to fire directly on the monsters.
after a few minutes the monsters and lucius's men clashed.
Lucius's men were pushed back but lucius casted fireballs on the monsters he could see salamanders, goblins and iron wolves getting killed one by one.
then at a distance he noticed a large goblin mounted on a iron wolf he signalled his that a goblin king has appeared.
Lucius casted ligthning barrage at the goblin kings direction it stunned the goblin king.
after pushing back the monster wave lucius ordered everyone to charge at the goblin kings direction most monsters retreated but the goblin king did not so he was massacred by lucius's men after seeing the goblin king fall the enemy was routed causing them to flee.
Lucius ordered everyone not to chase them but just collect the materials fron the monsters corpses.
The battle lasted for only an hour but the damage, injured and dead were massive.
The next day business resumed and the guild was assessing the price of the materials collected from yesterdays battle.
The guild master called lucius to his office and told him that the total was 1 million platinum.
Currency Equivalent:
1 platinum = 1000 gold
1 gold = 1000 silver
1 silver = 1000 bronze
1 bronze = 10000 copper
Lucius was surprised but he accepted it without any complaints after that meeting he called Cai to his office he gave Cai 1000 platinums to expand the artisan business and village.
He also Compesated the soldiers, adventurers, mercenaries and the family of the fallen.
after a year the fort was complete and the village was now considered a city as proclaimed by Lord Rosaire.
Lucius then ordered Cai to train more soldiers in case something happens after all they are a border city close to Teria Empire.
After 2 months the city has now 2000 soldiers garrisoned and patrollimg the border.
Lucius now noticed that with the growth of the population the production of farmers lowered so he invested plots of land to be farmed people flocked the now called Sagard City.
Cai who was training soldiers immediately ran to Lucius Office after hearing word that his mother Lady Frances was on the gates.
He immediately ordered cai to take her into his mansion he built a year ago.
after 2 hours he went home and saw his mother crying,
"Lucius...(sniffle) Your father (sniffle) he...(sniffle) was seeing other women (waaahhh!!)" said her mother crying.
"Eh??" said Lucius who was shocked and confused.
"Is this a marriage dilemma?" Lucius said in his mind.
"After you left the city your father immediately acted weird(sniffle) She started seeing the young lady of house Valyr" said her mother.
"Eh?!?!" Lucius shouted confusingly.
Her mother fell asleep crying in his arms, so he asked his maids to take her into the room reserved for his parents.
After that shenanigan he ordered cai to manage things while he goes to Hares city and asked his father what is going on.
The night was dark and the rain continously falls acommpanied by thunder a young man on a horse galloping towards Hares city with 2 Bodyguards.
after a few hours he reached the city, the gate guards were confused who would be sane to travel in the night as they see his face more clearer they immediately scramble and opened the gate.
After entering the city he immediately went straight to Rosaire Castle running to Lord Rosaire's Office.
Lord Rosaire was confused with lucius's unexpected visit,
"My boy what are you doing here so late? and soaked in rain water" Lord Rosaire asked.
"Father answer me, is it true you were committing adultery?" Lucius asked.
"What are you saying boy? did your mother put you up to this" Lord Rosaire replied.
"So its true then" Lucius speculated.
"Heavens no" Lord Rosaire replied.
"Then who is this Lady Valyr you were seeing?" Lucius asked.
"So thats what this is about, my meetings with Lady Valyr was to set you up for an engagement" Lord Rosaire replied.
"Wha- Wha- Whaattt?!?!" Lucius shouted.
"I didn't tell your mother this because she is so picky when it comes to you" Lord Rosaire replied.
"Im engaged without me knowing!" Lucius shouted.
"Calm down boy, i know you are free to choose whoever you like to marry but this is just noble customs if by chance you didnt like her you could end this engagement just give her a chance" Lord Rosaire replied.
"Fine, but please explain to everything to mother tommorrow" Lucius replied.
" (sigh) ok you escort her here tommorrow morning, your room is how you left it" Lord Rosaire replied.
Lucius left the office with mix emotions.
