21 Chapter 21

The more time passed the more stunned the City Lord become. Kence's comprehension was comparable to the mages that Otto considered as geniuses. Kence didn't asked too much question but it was the key parts of certain topics. As long as the City Lord answered his question, Kence would only need some time to comprehend what he didn't understood before

The City Lord's impression on Kence was he was very timid and weak. He didn't think that the youth would achieve much on the path of Magic and would only learn it but not necessarily put too much effort and thought on it. He only decided to teach Kence personally for the whole month as he doesn't have much to do but now, he changed his mind

If Kence continued to be like this, he might be only a bit inferior to his most talented student, Caizha.

Kence frowned and started pondering about something but when he was having too much of a hard time understanding it, he decided to asked the City Lord

"City Lord, can you please explain this part to me" Kence pointed at the part of the manual that he can't understand. Otto looked at it and saw that Kence's progress in the previous hours was really high! The speed in which he understands magic theories will leave other magicians in dust. This made him to be satisfied at having such a good student

"Hahaha just call me master. No need to call me City Lord. You're my student now" the City Lord laughed and started explaining things to Kence. He would be an idiot if he won't take an exceptional genius like Kence

Kence didn't mind it as his mind was pre-occupied by the wonders of magic. He listened attentively while sometimes frowning or nodding his head

The door of the room opened and Caizha was just in time to see his teacher and Kence having such a good relationship. The woman has a complicated expression on her face but she pushed aside the negative feelings she has and smiled

As of now, she was not wearing her mask that can change her appearance and her beauty can be seen. "Master" Caizha greeted respectfully and the City Lord smiled as soon as he saw her

"Hi" Kence showed a friendly yet shy smile at her. "Hello" Caizha nodded at him

"Do you need anything to me?" The City Lord asked. The way he treated Caizha was akin to a grandpa talking to his granddaughter. They are not blood related but the two shared a very deep relationship

"Master, I broke through. I'm a Level 7 Magic Apprentice now" Caizha said in happiness. She's only about the same age as Calter, maybe a few months old but with her environment, resources, and teachings of the City Lord she already has a high cultivation stage

It's easy to break through in levels of Magic Apprentices as it was just about absorbing more mana. The hard part was understanding magic theories. It's not surprising for people to become a level 7 Magic Apprentice in a few months but couple that with having a high level of magic, then that is rare! Only geniuses can achieve that

The City Lord's smile widened in glee as he loves Caizha and proud of anything she achieved. "I'm really blessed with such a talented student!"

Their student's achievements were the teacher's pride, how can Otto not be happy?

"Thank you, master" Caizha replied

"C-congratulations" Kence said timidly and he was genuinely amazed at Caizha. He can't wait for the time when he too will become a Level 7 Magic Apprentice

"I know you two already know each other but I want the both of you to have a good relationship. Kence, Caizha is my only true disciple and now I want you to be the second one. Caizha, take a good care of your junior brother"

Caizha was a bit dissatisfied on Kence because of Calter but it wasn't too deep. However, all these years her master have many students but she was the only true disciple. The status of those students cannot compare to her at all. But now, not only did she have a junior brother but it was actually Kence. This made her a bit more dissatisfied about Kence

For her, Kence wasn't talented enough to become the City Lord's true disciple and it was only because of Calter. Caizha thought that Kence was using his master for his own good and she didn't like it. But she won't dare make a fuss over it in front of her master and can only show friendliness. "Yes, master"

"Then that's settled. Kence, greet your senior sister"

Kence immediately oblige and walked towards Caizha and bowed respectfully at her. "Greeting, senior sister Caizha"

----

Calter was currently outside the Thousand Beasts Forest. Although he was still not inside the forest but he can already see some magic beasts. The forest really lived up to its name. The number of magic beasts inside was astonishing

He controlled the horse and they entered the outskirts of the forest. The horse run to its max speed and the peak Magic Warrior secretly tailing behind Calter cursed inside him

Calter was still weak and can't sense a Magic Warrior secretly protecting him but he understands a lot how human's brains work. The City Lord saw him as a talent and might secretly order someone to follow him. Calter thought that as he was still a low-level Magic Apprentice the City Lord would at most order a Magic Warrior for now. With the max speed of the Knight Rank Cloud Stepping Horse, how can a weak mage have the chance of following him?

He run for a while longer as he didn't know if he already lost his secret guard. He doesn't need a guard, even though the Cloud Stepping Horse wasn't adept at fighting but it has superior fleeing skills! Also, it was still at Knight Rank. How can magic beast that only has the power of Magic Apprentice be a match for it?

He encountered several magic beasts' groups but none of it managed to catch him thanks to the horse. When he decided it was enough, Calter jumped down from the horse and used his wand to activate a spell

"[Dark Summon Magic: Skeleton Warrior!]" This time the summoning circle that appeared in front of Calter was bigger and wider than the other times he activated this spell

From the summoning circle five Skeleton Warriors appeared. These skeletons are different from the normal ones. Their bones are whiter and denser giving them powerful defense. Even their swords although low quality but it at least didn't have any rusts now. Even the black fires burning inside their eye sockets were burning much fiercer now

These five Skeleton Warriors are much superior than normal ones. This was not surprising though, he deliberately lowered the power of his summoned to fight Kalli and the one who ambushed him. As long as he made a magic mark of the spell, his core amplifies its power by two levels

Skeleton Warrior summoning was a Level 3 Spell, with his core it was amplified to become as powerful as Level 5 Spells. This was actually the normal skeletons he can summon but if he summoned them in front of many people, disasters might come knocking to him

The skeletons are comparable to Level 4 Magic Beasts. Of course, by comparable it only means by raw power. Their intelligence can't even compare to magic beasts and their bodies are also inferior. But they have the numbers and Calter can at least give them simple commands. Also, even if their bodies are destroyed, they won't feel pain and unless they were crippled their battle prowess won't be affected much. They can surely fight level 4 Magic Beasts

Calter activated the spell again and five more skeletons appeared. With his mana, he can easily summon ten powerful Skeleton Warriors

"Hmm, at this rate I can sustain them for quite a few hours with my mana" the summoner was required to provide a bit of mana to let the skeletons remain in the plane. Of course, the mana required was lower than the actual summoning spell but even then, it still required mana

"But with my natural mana recovery, I can almost sustain their existence for eternity" Calter was too much of a cheat. Other mages needed to actively cultivate to recover their mana. They can still recover without doing anything but the required time was much higher. Calter's rate of natural recovery on the other hand was too absurd and with it he can almost let his summon be in the planes for eternity

What was more absurd though was even if Calter didn't cultivate, the amount of mana on his body would still slowly grow. For the others, their bodies only recovered the amount of mana they originally had but Calter was different! It was too much of a cheat that other mages would want to bite him to death

At this time, a group of three magic wolves appeared and growled menacingly at Calter. These wolves have brown furs and pitch-black eyes, their strength was mediocre among the same level of magic beasts but one should not underestimate them. These wolves were pack type beasts. They may only have the number of three now but if one didn't kill them immediately, they will seek help on the other wolves nearby

Normally, people who encountered them only has two choices. The first is to flee immediately or kill them quickly so that they can't ask for help

"Time to earn some money" Calter smirked and gave a mental command to the skeleton warriors. As he was just in the outskirts of the forest, the wolves he encountered only has the power of level 2 Magic Apprentice. They were too weak in front of him

The skeletons immediately charged at the wolves and killed two of them leaving the remaining one. The last wolf growled and was slowly backing off. The wolf then howled to attract the attention of other wolves

Calter didn't stopped it though, it's better if his prey were the ones coming to him. This will save him a lot of trouble. Besides, if ever the number of enemies exceeded what he can fight, there was the Cloud Stepping Horse on his side for escape

Soon enough, in only a few minutes another group of wolves appeared. This time, it was a group of five wolves. One was level 1, three were level 2 and the last one was the strongest. It has the power of level 3 Magic Apprentice

Calter wasn't afraid, these wolves were only money for him. They were mere Magic Crystals!

The young man didn't even bother moving personally and just ordered the skeletons to kill. One of the skeletons slashed its sword on the weakest wolf and in just one strike, it easily pierced the wolf's defense, killing it in one blow

The other wolves were angered and opened its mouth to bite the skeleton to death. Too bad, it wasn't even able to get close when another skeleton attacked

This time, the stronger wolf put up a bit of resistance but it only needs a bit of effort for the skeleton to impale the wolf using its sword

The wolves seeing, they can't win let out an animalistic howl. This was their mistake though. The skeletons can kill all the wolves in an instance but they didn't do it so that they will attract more wolves. They can live for a bit longer and not endanger their kin but they asked for help. As their goal was reached, in just a few seconds the five wolves were mercilessly killed by the skeletons. The smell of blood diffused in the air

If normal people smelled it, they would become uncomfortable. But Calter wasn't affected the slightest, in fact he wished that stronger beast will be attracted so that he can fight personally

Killing the prey using the skeletons were quite dull and boring. What Calter needed was a real fight! A blood boiling fight!
