Chapter 18

"Young Master, dinner is ready" Kence said. His voice wasn't entirely cold but it was devoid of its usual liveliness. Even when Calter was using almost all of his time training he still made sure to eat on time as to not make Kence angry. Unfortunately, he was too engrossed in solidifying his foundation today and forgot the passing of time

Kence bowed and started walking away, leaving Calter to be unsure of what to do. Earlier today they were having a good meal but now he's too stupid and made Kence angry again

Calter pulled Kence hand causing the latter to let out a cry of surprise. Kence's head collided on Calter's chest while the young master hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry" it was just two words but it was full of sincerity. Kence can feel his master's heartbeat and somehow the sound gave him a sense of comfort

It's not like he was really angry at Calter, what a joke! He wouldn't dare be angry at his master. It's just that he doesn't like it when Calter forgot about his health due to training. For him training is important but one should not neglect their physical health!

"I'm sorry, I won't do it again. Don't be angry" his words were very gentle as if his voice alone can break the fragile human on his hand. The disparity of his treatment from other people to Kence was really too huge. One might think that they are not the same person

"Young Master, I'm not angry" Kence replied while shaking his head but him calling Calter as young master again made Calter to frown in dissatisfaction. "You're still calling me Young Master, that means we're still not okay"

He prefers it if Kence will call him on his name but if he can't then he should at least call him Big Brother and not Young Master. Calling him master means Kence treated himself as only a servant, Big Brother on the other hand was much more intimate

Calter broke free from their hug and showed a pleading look at Kence. The latter can only pout and thought that this was too unfair. Why can't he sulk for a long time? "Fine, just don't do it again next time please?" Calter nodded his head "I promise"

"Big Brother, you can't break your promise okay? Breaking a promise is bad!" Calter chuckled and messed with Kence's hair. "I won't, let's go eat. Sorry for making you wait" Kence nodded his head and the two went inside and bead to the dining room

The Madame and Patriarch were already there, this was rare. As their clan was on the brink of decline, Calter's parents has a lot of things to do. Most of the time they managed the clan's affair and wasn't there to eat with their son. Even if they are not present, Calter doesn't care much though. He was still dissatisfied at how they treated him before

Them being here was a good chance though. Calter pulled one of the chairs to let Kence sit on it. This made Kence's face to turned red as the Madame and patriarch's gaze was on them. As a servant, he should be the one doing something like this not the young master. Thankfully, the masters didn't say anything and just let them be

Calter sat next to Kence and looked at his parents. "Father, Mother I have something to show to you" Narry and Emily looked at their son and listened attentively

From Calter's hand a badge with a flying Ice Phoenix appeared. The two took a sharp breath at what they were seeing. They blinked their eyes in disbelief as they can't believe that something like that will land on their son's hand

"I-Is that...." Narry didn't dare continue his words as even higher Nobility Clans will not have something like this. Heck, all Nobility Clans that will have that badge are destined to have a high position inside the Soaring Magic City!

"Soaring Ice Phoenix Badge" Calter continued nonchalantly. The Sternix Clan was still his clan. If its standing inside the city rose then the more money and resources the clan will have. The clan will be of much more help to him if they grew their businesses and position

If he gives the badge to his parents, the news of the Sternix Clan having the Soaring Ice Phoenix Badge will spread. If that happens who would dare bully them? Even if their Clan is weak so what? I have the backing of the City Lord, what can you do? They were technically untouchable now in the city as long as they don't offend too many people

"H-how?" Narry almost choked on his words as the significance of this badge was too great for their Clan. Even if Calter won't become a Magic Knight it doesn't matter. The City Lord is the supreme ruler of the entire city, as long as he willed it, even a Magic Apprentice can have his own Nobility Clan

"Kence became the City Lord's Disciple" Calter words were like thunder strikes to the pair of husband and wife. They all looked at Kence with disbelief who became extremely flustered immediately

"I-I...." Kence didn't know what to say. Calter made it sound like they got the badge because of him being the City Lord's disciple but he was aware that it was all because of his master. The city lord won't even spare him a glance if it wasn't because of Calter much less become his disciple

Calter turned at Kence and winked at him while putting a finger on his mouth as a sign that Kence should not say anything. This was all to Calter's plan as soon as he saw the City Lord

On his parents' eyes, Kence was still their servant and might arrange other people to marry Calter in the future. Of course, Calter can deal with it but he doesn't want to waste his time. Marrying the City Lord's student was an honor to any Nobility Clan! Kence's position in the Clan might even be higher than Calter's position

As Narry was a Noble, he was a sly old fox and he laughed heartily. "Hahaha! To become the City Lord's student, you made me pleasantly surprise Kence. It seems like you are a top talent! Eat, eat to your heart's content"

Even Emily's treatment to Kence changed. This made Kence to become uncomfortable as he wasn't used to the two masters of the clan treating him like this. Although when Calter showed magical talent they started treating him better but their treatment was even more over the top tonight. They were too enthusiastic and overly friendly to him

After eating the two were on their way to their room and Kence asked the question he wanted to ask before but can't. "Big Brother, why didn't you say that you helped the City Lord?" Kence asked in confusion

"Hahaha don't think too much about it" Calter laughed and wrapped his arm on Kence's shoulder. "Just do anything you want okay? Even if you're the City Lord's student you don't need to feel pressured. I can become stronger for our sake, you don't need to push yourself too hard"

Kence nodded his head but inside him he knew that he would pour a lot of effort on his magical training. He was a servant his whole life, he knew how precious it is to have a teacher teaching you magic. Even more so when your teacher is a City Lord!

City Lords are like Gods to someone like Kence. A God as his teacher, how can he not take the training seriously?

Thus, the two went to their room and slept while cuddling which each other

August 18 Year 9000

The next day a huge commotion happened in front of Sternix Clan's manor. In front of the clan's gate an expensive looking carriage that used Cloud Stepping Horses parked there that attracted a lot of attention

The carriage was pulled by not just one but three Cloud Stepping Horses!

Just what is the Cloud Stepping Horse? That is one of the top Magic Beast used by powerful magicians as their steed. Even the weakest and lowest ones are not something that normal people can afford. Not to mention, of the three horses two has the power of Magic Warrior and the last one was comparable to Magic Knight

Of course, these horses fighting capabilities are lower than other Magic Beasts at their level but their speeds are unmatched! Almost all terrains were like the same flat road to them. It was extremely hard to catch one because of their speed especially if the terrain is favorable to them

These Magic Beasts even with money, one might not be able to buy it so how can they not be shock?

From the carriage a Mage wearing an ice blue Magic Robe went out and went to the Sternix Clan's guards

"I am here for Young Master Calter and Young Master Kence" the guard was taken aback. The Mage has an arrogant disposition and the guards knew he wasn't a match of this one

The guard was a Magic Warrior but he felt too weak in front of this Mage. What made him to be shocked was even though the mage was arrogant but he actually called Calter and Kence's name with respect

It was already unbelievable that he called for Calter but even Kence was called as young master? All of the servants of the clan knew that in the future Kence will become one of the young master's spouse but even then, he might not have too high of position. Kence was after all just a servant without a backing except for the young master favoring him

Although the guard was shock but he didn't dare antagonize the powerful mage in front of him. "I-I'll call the young masters immediately!" The guard bowed and run inside the clan leaving the magician

The Magician snorted coldly. The guard didn't even let him enter. This was understandable though; Noble Clans are still Noble Clans. The guard didn't know the identity of this mage and didn't dare let him enter in fear that the patriarch would be angry

If not for the City Lord's order to be extremely respectful, how can a mage at his caliber let himself be treated like this? Even if it was the Sternix Patriarch, Narry, would still need to give respect to him

After a few minutes Narry along with Kence and Calter can be seen walking to the clan's gate. Sensing the power of the mage outside, Narry became tense. He can feel the mage was even stronger than him

The other guards around hastily opened the gate and the patriarch immediately went to greet the mage. "Greetings Mage" as the mage asked for Kence and Calter, Narry already deduced his identity

It should be one of the City Lord's underlings. The City Lord was really powerful, just this mage alone was even more powerful than Narry. If all of his underlings are Magic Knights, the Sternix Clan was like an ant in front of him

The mage just nodded his head, clearly not putting Narry on his eyes. His vision landed on the two youths besides Narry. The mage naturally knows the appearance of the two and immediately recognized them

"Young Master Calter, Young Master Kence I'm here in the City Lord's order to pick the two of you" the mage said respectfully and even bowed his head a bit

As a Magic Knight under the City Lord, the mage has a huge authority and knew that the City Lord favored these two. One will even become his student, how can he dare be disrespectful?

"Please follow me Young Masters" the mage motion his hand to his carriage and the two went inside it leaving the patriarch

Narry wasn't dissatisfied though, he's nothing even just in front of the mage that was tasked to pick up the two. With Kence and Calter both coming from his Clan, the Clan's standing in the city was fated to be high. If Kence was talented and was favored more by the City Lord then that is for the best. Kence wasn't treated that badly inside the clan. In fact, Calter was even very good at him. He would surely have a huge sense of gratitude
