3 Chapter 3

Jordyn's POV

"You won't believe who the dorm leader roomed me with," Damien tells.

"Who?" I ask.

"That prick, Jesse Masters," he tells.

"The snotty rich kid from Willowfree?" Jasmine asks.

"The same guy that was with Alexia and that other chick?," I ask.

"Same guy. I can't believe that I have to room with him for the next year." Damien whines.

"Sucks for you dude. At least no one got roomed with those two bitchy witches." Jasmine tells.

"At least we're in the clear," I tell.

We proceeded to talk about what we should do before we go back to the dorm rooms for the night and Damien suggested a game of Feats of Might.

"What's that?" I ask.

"You've never played Feats of Might?!? Where did you grow up, under a rock?" Jasmine asks, giggling.

"The only games I've played don't use magic, so sue me if I don't know what you're talking about!!" I pout.

"Don't worry. We'll bust your Feats of Might cherry today." Damien tells in a failed seductive tone.

We laugh at him as he summons some cards, shuffles, and deals them to us.

"Alright. Feats of Might, or FOM for short, is an easy strategy game to play. You have four main player cards, eight trap/status cards, and a bunch of spell cards. The object of the game is to get your opponent to be unable to play. You draw five cards and whatever player card you draw, you get their statuses, strengths, and weaknesses." Damien explains, dealing out five cards.

I pick the cards up and see that three were spells, one was a status condition and the last one was a player.

"Alright, what do you have?" Jasmine asks, setting up her hand.

"I have Stuenta Aveous, Augarabus Candiate, and Supresasis Dracundis for spells, ice blight for status, and Lyra for my main player," I tell.

"Lyra is bad for the main player, but her weaknesses are bad. On her card will tell you her weaknesses. Her weakness is intense heat and the bitter cold. She doesn't do well in either terrain. Speaking of terrains, since Damien delt to me first, I pick the terrain." Jasmine tells.

She waves her hand over the table and it changes to an ice mountain.

"Not fair, Jas." I groan.

"This is just a practice to show you how it's done. Damien, you explain the spell cards while I start everything off." Jas tells.

"Alright. Since Jasmine picks the terrain, she can place down her player on the map wherever she wants on her side of the board. She can't go onto other player's sides, or that means an immediate penalty on her end. The player who Jasmine places her main character on will decide the punishment by whatever status or spell card they have in their hand. Let's say she put her player on my side. I have the spell card Pestictus Demasi, which will render whoever I target immobile for a period of time. I play that by sliding the card onto the board." Damien tells.

He places the card face up on the mountain floor and Jasmine's player becomes stiff as a board, rendering Jasmine the same.

"When you said that you take on your player's stats and all that," I say.

"If your player is afflicted, your afflicted. That's what makes it Feats of Might. Since Jasmine used her turn, it's your turn. Place your player on the field and use a spell." Damien tells.

I place my player down, who instantly starts shivering, making me do the same. I play Supresasis Dracundis and a shield comes in front of my player, protecting her from the cold. I stop shivering as Damien takes his turn. We play the game for a couple of hours, with myself getting the hang of the whole dynamic of the game. Jasmine won when both Damien and I couldn't see from the sandstorm whipped in our faces and decided to call it quits.

"Wish me luck with my roommate's situation," Damien tells, packing up his cards.

"Good luck." Jasmine and I say.

We hug goodbye and make our way back to our dorm room. When we get into the lobby, our dorm master, Lynexia stopped us.

"Girls, we have a problem with your room," Lynexia tells.

"Why? What happened?" I ask.

"Someone must have really hated one of you because they set loose a bunch of Atuvians in the room," Lynexia tells.

"Shit!! That's my ex-girlfriend. I told her a while back that those little bug things were something that I liked more than her when we fought. She wanted to get back at me." Jasmine tells.

"Well, we were able to salvage most of your things. Your books, systems, and clothes. We weren't able to save your Encore Ensemble poster." Lynexia tells.

"Ah, man!! And it was signed too!!" I whine.

"Damn. Sorry girl." Jasmine tells, rubbing my back.

"It's okay. Maybe I'll get another signed one at their next concert." I tell.

"Anyway, we've set up a new room for the both of you for the next year. It's a four-bedroom dorm you have to share with two other housemates. This is the number and your keycards." Lynexia tells.

"Thanks, Lynexia," I say, taking my keycard.

"And sorry again for the whole thing. I didn't think that Thox had it in her." Jasmine tells.

She nods at that she tells us where to go to get to our dorm.

"Thox? I didn't know you were dating an orc." I say.

"She's half-orc half-human. Her mother is fully orc, but her dad is all human." Jasmine tells.

"What happened?" I ask.

"I met up with my best friend, Skye, who was also my ex-girlfriend and we just hung out. She thought that I was cheating on her with Skye and we fought. I told her that she shouldn't be jealous of my best friend because I loved her and she couldn't handle it. She said that I shouldn't be friends with my ex's when she's also friends with her ex's." Jas tells.

"She should have known that if you had to cut out your friends then she would have to do the same if they were her ex's," I tell.

"Exactly what I told her!! She kept saying it was different from her, but it's the same thing as me. I told her that if she didn't trust me, that she shouldn't be with me. She said fine and stormed out cursing me out. That's when we met." Jas tells.

"Well, let's hope she doesn't find our new dorm room and mess with that," I tell.

We reach our dorm room and go to open it when someone opens it from the inside. My eyes go wide as I see Alexia standing there with a glare on her face.

"What are you doing here?!" we say.

"This is my dorm, idiots!!" Alexia says.

"Alexia, what are these losers doing at our door??" Felicia asks.

"Well, you can talk with Dorm Master Lynexia, cause this is also our room," I tell, pushing past her.

Jasmine does the same and we go to set up our rooms.

"Oh hell no!! I'm not living with no commoners here!!" Alexia tells, following me.

"Deal with it, cause we aren't going anywhere," I tell.

Once Jasmine and I get our rooms set up without the annoyances hovering over us, we finally started to relax.
