9 Moire's Duel Preparation

He finally woke up from his sudden slumber after eating just a fragment of a page. He checked outside and looked at the clock tower which read 11, he was out cold for a solid 4 hours.

With full understanding of the material of the book, he no longer had to eat it.

He rushed to the training room present in the library to test out his new found knowledge. Closing the chamber and locking it so that nobody could come in, he began chanting the word within his mind. A feat unimaginable to other magicians in the world as of currently as techniques such as those were lost in history, but here he was, able to do just that.

The three words popped out in his head in large fonts and their deep meaning allowed the casting of magic.

volts began compressing on the tip of the standard academy wand and it finished.

It came out like a bullet with fast speed and struck the anti-magic practice dummy. The bolt raced to the target in a zigzag manner and left a mark where it hit, burnt marks appeared on the dummy as the electricity began dissipating in the ground and the dummy restored itself back into condition.

'So I actually learned it...'

He couldn't believe his new brought powers and decided to eat more books!

With the teaching of the lightning bolt, he was able to become a Level 1 Magician, at the level that reached a full graduate of the academy before they are enlisted in mage towers.

He was stoked for sure, being able to do as much with just a crumpled piece of paper.

'I can finally get payback for all the scrutiny I got from Adam..!'

But he realized once more, only Level 0 Magic was allowed during practice otherwise it would have a chance to cause an injury to the other participant, he went back out to find theories on superior methods of Level 0 magic that would otherwise overpower another using the same spell but never put into practice.

He found three books, 'Mana Arrow Theology' by Bella Hart, a magician who couldn't advance past third circle magic and had profound and insight on mana arrow, a staple to mages that could be used easily but could be easily overpowered by other elemental spells. But Bella's mana arrow were much more dangerous where she would use them in a way where it would have power of a first circle magic. In a rumor, she was even able to use one on par of a second circle spell. When she was drafted in the war, she demonstrated her powers to her peers and rained down a volley of mana arrows able to decimate anti-magic armor. She was a respected professor when she was alive but she died shortly after the war ended due to poison, an occupation that both magicians and knights dislike due to their underhanded use of poisons. The overall mana arrow she held was powerful in all aspects of speed, power, and penetration, a valuable spell to any magician. But no matter how much they read her theories, nobody understood how to properly master it or learn it.

He found all her studies on the mana arrow which resulted in four volumes. He read them multiple times and believed his understanding of it to be very high. He crumple a piece of paper of the first and ate it, the act of eating paper was still quite strange to him as the taste of aged paper is not really per say delicious. He could feel the magic that was used to inscribe the spell forcefully being absorbed by his eating. His head began to ache after doing so but on the bright side, he didn't just collapse on the spot. Theorizing the absorption of magic is all based on their mental capacity which was why he didn't just faint.

He began eating the second volume after seeing that his understanding of the first volume was Superb. He felt the same pain as the first but it fades away easily and he consumed all four pages.

He finally heard the grim voice once more.

[Level 0 Infinite Mana Arrow Learned...]

They were all fragments for the main spell and those who failed trying to learn her magic must've focused on certain parts of the spell therefore their inability to learn it since all parts of it was vital. He went back in the room to use it.

With one word in his mind, the magic was casted in mere milliseconds and formed in similar speed before propelling itself at lower speeds of the lightning bolt but very similar indeed.

He went into a frenzy and used it multiple times, even managing to cause a small wound on the dummy before it repaired itself, the penetration power was indeed very powerful for a level 0 spell with the ability to be powerful than a Level 1 Spell but at a level of a Lower 2nd Level Spell. He had full understanding of the material, and the power of his mana arrow became awfully similar to that of which Bella casted in her past. He learnt that in the space where the teacher uses the spell, he was allowed the same to cast the spell, she looked with approval as if it were set in a program and he was booted out the inner space. He believed his insight of the spell to be on par of the teaching method. Spells and books could be labeled in three levels. Teaching, Inscribed, and Copied.Teaching was like receiving the knowledge of the spell from the creator itself. Inscribed was receiving knowledge of the spell from a book inscribed with the teacher's very essence as an original book. Or Copied, using a technique to copy the original but at a lower understanding of inscribed books. But Ray was just able to learn the spell to the extent of a teaching method from a book of a copied level.

He went through the library all day, even skipping the evening session of the academy. Learning plenty of Level 0 Spells and finally knocked out after attempting another Level 1 Spell.

The mental capacity was worn out from multiple Level 0 Spells and the final push was the Level 1 Spell.

The librarian woke up from her nap and sat in her reception chair, not even caring at all of the young boy unconscious on a desk in her sight.
