Magic and Spirit series - Tales of Wonder

Jack Kilver was the greatest adventurer in human history. Once he heard of a place that was so harsh that not even the terrible monsters outside the city dared not to go into it he knew he must be the first. Especially Emily's work, the company built by the woman who has moved humanity further in the future. She feels more devoted and passionate about her work. She just can't figure out why... Tales Of Wonder are short stories that are tied in to a novel I've had in my head for years. They are related to the novel and each other. These stories are mainly to motivate me and to test out different writing styles. Each short story will be written in different styles. They take place in a world where magic and science combine. The first story here, I admit leaves the rules of the world and how everything works a little vague but each short story will add more and eventually the novel will tie up the magic system.
