Maggie You're a Hero

So, let's start. It began on a bright sunny day as Maggie rushed through the street, trying her best to get to school on time. For the past couple of weeks, she had been tardy, and if she were late again, her mom would blow a fuse. Her mom didn't want to hear that her daughter was failing school because she had been tardy too many times.

As Maggie was waiting for the crossing light to turn green, she noticed a little boy crying and looking for something. She managed to cross the street and ran up to the little boy, who was crying very hard. She knelt down to him and asked, "Hey, are you okay?" The little boy began to say that he lost his mom in the crowd and mentioned his name was Matt.

Maggie looked around her surroundings to see if she could spot Matt's mom, and he was right; it was way too crowded to notice a little boy who was separated from his mom. Maggie noticed the time on her watch and realized she was about to be late again. She decided she should take Matt to his mom, hoping that her mom would understand. She grabbed Matt's hand and said, "Okay, Matt, let's go look for your mom."

As they began to search, an hour passed, and they still couldn't find Matt's mom. Matt was about to cry again, and so was Maggie, realizing that there was no way for an irresponsible person like her to actually find someone's parents. Until they heard sirens coming from around the corner, and they saw a police vehicle stop right in front of them. The car doors opened, and out came a tall, beautiful lady who was crying.

Matt noticed that it was his mom, ran up to her, and began to hug her tightly. "I was so worried about you. I'm so sorry for losing you in the crowd and leaving you alone for hours," said Matt's mom. "I wasn't alone, Mom. This girl was trying to help me find you." Matt pointed to Maggie.

Matt's mom walked up to Maggie and said, "Thank you for taking care of my little Matt." Maggie wiped her tears and said, "It was no problem, but I kind of became late for school in the process." "Don't worry about it. I'll explain to your mom what happened and why you were late for school."

Maggie grew a huge smile. "Thank you so much. I had no clue what to say to my mom if I was ever late for school again. I'm kind of an irresponsible person," Maggie said. "But you're not an irresponsible person, Maggie. You decided to help a lost child who was looking for his mom when no one else cared. You, Maggie, are the most responsible person I have ever met," said Matt's mom.

Maggie's smile grew even wider as the story ended with her receiving an award from both Matt and her mom for being a responsible person.
