12 find her

Yuri

Angel's declaration that she was from Isiah's is a big discovery but made my heart fear for the safety of my family. I was having an inner battle whether to set her free or kill her.

''Dad'' I talked to my Father's sleeping figure as I played with the ring on my neck. The one I picked up from Alejandro's winery hoping it was Angel's. "Chto ya sobirayus' delete'?" (What am I going to do?)

I sat there staring at the night in deep thoughts. She's an assassin. That explains why we can't find any information about her. My innocent Angel never existed. She must've used me as a cover in all those times she spent with me.

''Yuri'' I heard Dad's voice and it snapped me out of my feelings.

''Dad'' I turned to him and his eyes were filled with worries.

''What happened?'' I told him everything. About Uncle, Angel, and all the updates he needed to know.

We sat there in silence for a while before he spoke again. ''What day is it?''

''It's the 24th.''

He nods as if in deep thoughts ''where did you get that?'' tremor was clear in his tone as he pointed to the ring on my neck.

''I found it at Alejandro's. I don't know who owns it but-'' I was cut off when Dad pulled it from my neck. I changed the chains into a gold one that's why my head followed his actions. I pulled it out of my neck and handed it to him.

Tears were streaming down Dad's face and my curiosity was killing me. Dad never cries. Even after Mom's and Alex's death I never saw him shed a tear.

''What's wrong Dad?'' I finally found my voice.

He just smiled at me and handed back the ring.

I didn't get any sleep. Dad and Angel were both occupying my thoughts all night until dawn. Dad didn't say anything to me about the night of Uncle Evgeni's murder and I was still undecided if I will kill or set Angel free.

I closed my eyes trying to find peace when my handheld radio suddenly turned in voices of chaos from our men. I asked them what the problem was and they told me that they couldn't find Angel in her cell. I cursed under my breath as I tucked my gun and ran to the basement where I found the men guarding her cell unconscious.

''Find her!'' I shouted angrily as Kolya arrived at the scene.

My men scattered around the estate and now I cursed at how big our place is. Some of my men are searching the highways and the thick forest behind us. She couldn't have gotten far. No matter how good she is, she was deprived of water and food for more than a week now, and not to mention wounded, her body will soon give out. Dawn was breaking and it started to rain. This weather will make it harder for her to get far.

I walked up to Dad's room and informed him about the situation. I didn't see any panic or worry on his face.

''She's still here, Yuri. Keep looking for her around the estate'' I was puzzled at Dad's instruction but didn't argue. He never met Angel before and he speaks as if he knows how her mind works.

I made a run around the compound, once and again but found nothing. Maybe I was looking at the wrong places. I walked around the clearing behind the house. I remember her asking Kolya if he could bring her to see the sunrise and this is the place where the sunrise is best viewed.

I found her leaning on the big oak tree with her head buried on her knees.

The rain is making everything tougher but it's not rocket science to know that she was crying. I walked to her side and sat down beside her. She felt my presence and gazed at me. I was afraid to see her in person because of her current state. She was skinnier than the last time I saw her and her skin was still filled with bruises, her lips were busted and I felt my heart aching as I saw what I did to her.

''What are you doing out here, Angel?'' I asked against the pouring rain.

''I want to see the sunrise'' her voice broke and she continued to sob.

I don't understand what her deal was. She was beaten and tortured but she didn't even shed a tear on that and now she's crying because of the weather.

''We should get back inside'' I told her but she didn't move.

''Do you think it will stop?'' she asked.

''No'' I answered her vague question. We sat there for a while in complete silence before I felt her leaning on me with her eyes closed.

I carried her inside the mansion and let her rest in my room. Tina was hesitant to change her and tend to her wounds but she has to follow my orders. I saw what Angel did to her and it was kind of fun to watch her in action.
