23 dinner disaster

✨Andi✨

The Laskin's open space dining room was located at the east wing of the estate. It was my favorite part of the manor because it's facing the sunrise in the morning and the glimmering city of New York at night. The twenty seater wooden table stood proud in the middle of the room with a matching rectangular chandelier on the ceiling.

Alek Laskin invited us over dinner for no apparent reason.

He was already seated at the head of the table with another man seated on his right when we entered. The man looked in our direction but gave no notice and continued to talk to Alek. I recognize him as Alice's father, senator Eugene Miller.

"Let's talk in my study later" I heard old Laskin speak as he stood up and pulled me and Sin for a hug.

"Thank you for inviting us," I uttered.

"You're part of my family now, both of you" he replied as Sin and I looked at each other knowingly. "Take a seat wherever you like, this is no formal dinner." He motioned for us to the table after he introduced us to the senator as his family, simple as that.

Nickolai arrived with a well-groomed Faith in her pink sundress and white sandals. She kissed her grandfather's cheeks before sitting between me and Sin. Alek noticed how Faith acted around us but gave no comment about it. He just gave me a knowing gaze before going back to his conversation with the Senator.

A girl with a straight raven entered the hall with Zion. There was no denying that she's a Laskin with those glassy green eyes of hers, they must've gotten it from their mother's side. She commanded respect and power the moment she entered the room. Sin and I knew her even before Alek introduced her as Natalia, Yuri's younger sister. She gave me and Sin an intimidating gaze before focusing her attention back on Zion.

Yuri and Alice soon arrived but I gave no attention to them as they took the seat closer to Alek and the senator. Thank all the spirits that the food was served but I lost appetite when Alice started babbling about how worried she was when Yuri was trapped on the island alone.

I was fucking there! I wanted to scream and tell her that I almost fuck his boyfriend!

"So…" Senator Miller cleared his throat after dessert was served. "When is the wedding?"

My grip on the silver utensils tightened as Faith gave me an inquisitive look.

"Dad" Alice faked shyly "Yuri hasn't even proposed to me yet and you're already asking for the wedding."

"Let the kids decide for themselves, Eugene" Alek butted in while sipping his wine.

The senator scoffed "if I didn't know better, I'd think that your son isn't serious with my daughter." He crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned back on his chair. "I want a wedding before the year ends."

The man in question was awfully quiet. I bet he'd heed the senators request without haste.

"I don't like you" I turned to my side, not sure if it was really Faith who spoke. "Andi will always be my mommy."

"Faith" I urged her to stop but she just crossed her petite arms over her chest and pouted.

"What did you say, missy?" Alice was fuming red in embarrassment. She stood up from her chair, the sweet girl was gone. "How dare you insult-"

Sin chortled, she was trying hard not to laugh but failing miserably.

"D-did you just speak in full sentences, moya milaya vnuchka?" Alek stood up from his chair and rounded to Faith's side with teary eyes. (my sweet granddaughter)

"da dedushka" Faith wrapped her arms around his granddad.

"Did anyone just forget that she insulted me?" Alice faked hurt and glared at Yuri who was on our side of the table now.

Yuri took Faith from Alek and twirled her around "can you say my name, malen'kiy angel." (little angel.)

"ya lyublyu tebya, dyadya" Faith buried her face on Yuri's shoulder, tears falling from the Laskin's clan. (I love you uncle)

I've never been the emotional kind of person but I felt my heart warm with happiness at the sight of Yuri and Faith. For the first time since Seville, he was vulnerable and genuinely happy.

Natalia soon pulled Faith in her arms but Alice continued to ruin the night. "She should be punished for insulting me."

"For Pete's sake just shut up" Natalia rolled her eyes dramatically.

Sin laughed out loud and Alice threw a napkin in her face. That stopped my best friend from laughing, she held the bread knife and was about to throw it at Alice's face but I held her hand.

"She's not worth it" I whispered to my friend but Alice scoffed.

"You," she pointed her forefinger at my face "are not worthy of my Yuri's love. You're just a gold-digging slut!"

Remember what I said about those who insult me? Alice's eyes widened when she felt the wind blow her blond hair from the knife I threw in her direction. The color on her cheeks drained, only her makeup remained as the knife pierced through the wall behind her.

The senator pulled his gun and aimed it at my head. His security did the same but I was surprised when Yuri pulled his Glock aiming it at the senator's temple. Nickolai, Zion, and Natalia did the same and the room fell dead silent. I pulled Faith behind me, protecting her from the threat of a bloodbath because of me.

"Y-Yuri" Alice broke the hovering silence. "You're choosing her side?"

"I'd choose her over you anytime, blondie," Yuri said firmly as Ivan and Gregory joined the fun.

"What?" I was confused. What the hell does he mean by that?

Eugene Miller scoffed. "Mark my words, Laskin," he turned to the silent head of the family. "You'll pay for this, your empire will crumble before your eyes."

Alek finally spoke, but his blue eyes were blazing with fire. "You'll regret threatening my family, Miller." His voice was calm but filled with conviction. "Leave now on your accord before I throw you out in a body bag."
