18 Broken shoulder

✨Andi✨

Am I dead? No, I guess not because people say that death is peaceful but why mine wasn't? I heard rumbling and water splashing around me, giving me chills from my foot to my hair tips. My eyes were heavy and my body was aching and then I remember, the heist and the explosion that was so loud I think my eardrums broke.

I at least have a few broken bones in my ribs and fingers as I force my body to sit up. My pinky was shot up and I forced it back to its original place, whining silently as the pain crawled on my nerves.

I see water, very huge water in front of me and that was the only time that I got aware of the wounded man beside me. His shirt was ripped and his back was filled with burns, probably second degree at worst.

Those curly locks made my heart pound in my chest as I hurriedly searched for his pulse in his wrist. I can't find any because my fingers were too cold to function properly. I searched in his neck and exhaled a little when I felt his pulse. It was there but it was getting weaker.

There was no sun in the sky, just angry clouds and rumbling. Green vegetation decorated the end of the beach and plain cliff in front of me. There's a storm coming, I can't rely on the search party being sent for Yuri but I have to keep him alive. I have to.

I forced my body to move, it hurts everywhere but I have to make sure Yuri doesn't die from hypothermia. The bottom of the cliff is the safest place I can see, if it started to rain we have to be elevated and properly warm somehow.

Yuri was a dead weight, it took me seconds to take each step but the will to save him was keeping me from giving up. After a good thirty minutes of practically dragging him to the bottom of the cliff, I looked around for a good place to keep us from the direct wind blowing from the ocean. I found a cave opening but it was five feet off of the ground.

How can I possibly bring Yuri's body up there?

Think Andi. Shoelaces.

I left Yuri to recon the cave, making sure that no wild animals were waiting for us to be its meal. Luckily it was clear except for some spiders. I cleared the ground and took off my shoelaces and

Yuri's to make a simple cable lift for him, I tied it around his chest and under his arms, used up all my strength to bring him up to safety.

Cold sweats were dripping from my forehead, my body temperature was high but I still need a fire going for us. There were a few rounds left on Yuri's handgun and all I needed was timber and wood.

After scavenging the beach, the rumbling of the sky continued but luckily I found dry woods, yarrow, aloe Vera and goldenrod for Yuri's wounds before the storm hit. It was cold and my hands were already shaking like crazy. It took me a good ten minutes before I got a spark and smoke from the bird's nest and damp gun power.

I took off my clothes and helped Yuri out of his, careful not to touch his wounds. The fire made the cave warmer and I can feel my body temperature somehow dropping a few degrees but I still have to take care of Yuri's wounds before I could go to sleep.

After I finished tending to Yuri's wounds, I checked his pulse again and heaved a sigh when it was starting to get strong again. Oblivion was easy on me because I found solace as soon as I closed my eyes.

The storm was heavy, and I was chilling like hell as I curled my body against the cold floor of the cave. I felt warmth behind me but I have no strength to open my eyes. Yuri must have moved to my side of the cave.

Sleep was good, I felt a little better than yesterday but I felt a soft cushion against my face. My eyes shot open and Yuri's minty scent surrounded me. His dress shirt was folded under my head and his tarnished suit was covering my body. I looked around, but he wasn't in the cave.

I wore my shirt and jeans, ready to find my wayward roommate but before I could walk out of the cave, Yuri's bare chest met my face.

My mouth went dry at the sight of his dripping body, his toned muscles were making my stomach constrict. He was holding a stingray and lobster in his hand. "Breakfast?" he offered.

"Uhm… yeah" my head was still woozy and my body was still aching as I watched him put the seafood over the fire for roasting. "How are you feeling?" his muscles were riffling with each move and his dark hair was still damp from the ocean.

"I've been better" he didn't look back at me.

We ate in silence. It wasn't awkward, just peaceful silence. I tried my best to hide my aching shoulders with each bite I took but I seem to fail miserably.

"Take off your shirt," he said out of the blue.

"W-what?" I felt the warmth crawling on my neck.

He rolled his eyes "just do as I say." He murmured as he closed in the distance between us.

I know my body was in no condition to fight him but I won't let him touch me. "What are you doing?"

He lifts his hand to reach for my shoulder. I winced as I raised my arms in my defense. His eyes were getting darker as he licked his lips. He held the placket of my shirt and started unbuttoning my blouse. My breath was hitched like crazy with each graze of his fingers in my skin. He held my arms, his calloused hands leaving fire in each touch until he reached my shoulders, his thumb drawing circles making my stomach tossed.

"Fuck!!" I screamed in pain when I heard my shoulder cracked. "You assbutt!!"

The Devil smiled wickedly "what did you think I would do, babochka?"

"Fuckyou!" I spat and stomped out of the cave.

That Devil! He toyed me like I was a fucken child! I don't know why I was mad, was it because I wanted him to touch me? Was it because I didn't want him to? Whatever it was, I was maddeningly mad with him.
