16 Amelia vs Derek

{Author's pov}

~At University~

Amelia was busy chatting on her phone with her friends during the lecture. That's when the professor made an announcement after he got a call from the head office of the school.

"Attention everyone, a new student will be joining us today for two courses. Please get along well with him and help him wherever and whenever needed." The Professor said and went back to his teaching. After his lecture, the new student came inside with his two hands in his pockets and glancing towards everyone. He spotted Amelia very soon and smirked.

Derek Moretti. Each and every girl in the classroom started gossiping and giggling among themselves.

Amelia was drinking water, when she saw Derek entering the class...her eyes popped out from her eye sockets, and she sprayed all the water on a girl sitting in front of her.

"Eeekk!!" The girl screamed as her hair and clothes all became wet, she glared at Amelia for a second before rushing towards the washroom. Amelia was still in a daze, staring at Derek.

"Hi, I'm Derek. My major is Business management, but I'll be taking two more courses from this year. Please take care of me." Derek finished his introduction speech and went ahead to find an empty spot to sit. He found an empty seat in front of Amelia, so he rushed and grabbed the seat before Amelia could stop him.

"You..." Amelia muttered while gritting her teeth.

"Yes, I'm Derek. Nice to meet you." Derek said and smiled at Amelia.

"Before you used to sit in this class with a reason of bunking, now you took two courses of lectures in this class...tell me what is your intention of doing these things?" Amelia said in a low voice. Derek smirked and shrugged. "I already said, I'll be taking two more courses for my self-interest, now hush lecture is about to start." Amelia frowned as she didn't get her answer properly.

The professor came in and started explaining on board.

Amelia was trying to get a proper view of the blackboard, but Derek was continuously blocking her view. Amelia gritted her teeth again in anger and decided to sleep on her desk. She thought, "Forget about the lecture, who cares."

~During Lunch Break~

*Ting Ting*

Round 1, Amelia Allen vs Derek Moretti

Amelia smiled politely (fake smile) and went to Derek with confidence and determination.

"Hey, Derek..." Amelia called him and Derek looked at her.

"Just say, what can I do for you, to make you change seats with me?" Amelia asked politely with a polite smile...ahem fake smile.

Derek thought for a second before answering, "Become my girlfriend." Amelia's mouth twitched in anger.

"Nope, not gonna happen. Never." Amelia said.

"How about treating me as your boss. Become my servant for an entire week." Derek said and smirked. Amelia's mouth twitched even more, and she clenched her fist in anger.

"Nope, I've my reputation to protect." Amelia said.

"Tell everyone that you like me." Derek said and smiled brightly. Amelia's nerve in her head was about to burst open.

"Nope I don't wanna lie!" Amelia exclaimed.

"Alright, no changing of seats then!" Derek said and went back to chatting on his phone.

"Hmph grumpy old man!" Amelia said and went away from him.

Amelia thought, "He's so annoying...it makes me so mad! Ugh."

Round 1 over, Derek wins! Amelia K.O.!

Seat Negotiation: Failure!

Amelia went back to her friends, while Derek's friends called Derek out of the class. Derek told them what happened between him and Amelia.

"Heh why're you doing all this bro?" One of his friends asked him.

"Don't you think Amelia is quite interesting? She makes me wanna tease her more." Derek said and smirked.

*Sigh*"Why don't you just change seats with her, since it must be hard for her to concentrate on her studies." Another friend of Derek said, which made Derek thought for a while, but he shook his head.

"She's the only person who has called me an old man, how can I let her off so easily?" Derek smirked whereas his friends sighed as if they knew what he'll say.

Whereas Amelia was stomping her leg and complaining about Derek to her friends.

"I'm so irritated! Ugh!" Amelia exclaimed and frowned.

"Hey Amelia, I'm curious about something." Max said, which made Amelia glance at him.

"Yes, What's up?" Amelia said, to which Max responded, "Why do you have to change seats with Derek only? If he's unwilling, then you can find someone else to change seats with, right?" Amelia gasped as she realized she was being a fool! Lucas and Colten also suggested her to ask someone else.

~During another lecture~

*Ting Ting*

Round 2, Amelia Allen vs Derek Moretti!

Amelia entered her classroom, Derek became alert, he thought she would come to him again to ask for changing seats, and he was ready to change seats this time but...

Amelia went to a girl in the second row and asked her to change seats with her. The girl saw the opportunity to sit near Derek and happily approved to change seats with her. Amelia smiled brightly and thanked her. She glanced at Derek who was staring daggers at her and smirked like how Derek smiles and sat in the second row.

Someone poked a pen on Derek's back, and he turned around, the girl who was previously sitting in the second row smiled and said, "Hi Derek! I'm Julia! You're soo handsome!" Her voice was like a squeaking mouse in the ears of Derek. Derek scowled and exclaimed, "Shut up." He turned back and tried to concentrate on the lecture but the girl behind him continued drawing figures and waving with her finger on his back.

Seeing this, Amelia controlled her laughter whereas Derek clenched his teeth in anger.

Round 2 over, Amelia wins! Derek K.O.!

Amelia gave a high-five to Max! "Your plan worked!" Amelia exclaimed, Max grinned as he knew it would work.

Someone tapped Amelia's shoulder, she turned around and saw Derek with his irritating smirk!

"What." Amelia exclaimed.

"Is that how you greet your friends?" Derek said and smiled.

"Friend? You? Not even in dreams you would be my friend." Amelia said and folded her arms stubbornly.

"Oh? Then how about boyfriend?" Derek said. Amelia glared at him and turned around to walk away.

"Hey! I'm here for a serious talk!" Derek exclaimed and caught hold of Amelia's wrist. Amelia's friends just stood by to watch the scene unfold with imaginary popcorn.

"What serious talk? If you call this serious talk, then I'm not interested! Let me go now!" Amelia said and Derek sighed.

"Here." Derek offered Amelia a black card with a foreign language engraved on it.

"What's this?" Amelia took the card from him and observed it. It was like a credit card but not exactly a credit card.

"I heard Brinley made plans with you and your sister? Our mother has prohibited any shopping tour for Brinley so you and your sister can directly visit her for a night stay in the evening." Derek said.

"Uhh...umm no, we'll be busy, so we won't come, tell Brinley we're sorry I've some-" Derek interrupted Amelia and said, "I don't know about anything, plans are already made, if you want, you can convince Brinley directly by calling her, the car will come to pick you both. Okay then bye!" Derek finished his message and rushed off to meet up with his friends and walked away.

"Are you planning to go there?" Hayley asked Amelia. Amelia shrugged and said, "I don't know, will discuss with Anna about this."

Amelia went to her boxing classes and reached home late that day.

~At Xavier's Office~

"Are you sure about this?" Adam asked Xavier. Xavier nodded and said, "Increase the security and I want you by my sister's side all the time protecting her!"

"What about you then?" Adam asked Xavier.

"Damn it all! I can protect myself, Brinley's safety is more important! This is already the third assassination attempt in two months, mother already told her not to go out for some time...but I'm still worried. Adam, please help me with this." Adam stared at Xavier for a while before sighing and nodded as if he understood what he was trying to imply.

Apparently some assassins tried to attack Brinley when she was out with her friends. Her bodyguards and hidden protective guards saved her.

Mrs. Moretti ordered Brinley not to go out anymore for some time.

"You also know...it becomes hard for me to guard Brinley." Adam said, which made Xavier sighed in disappointment. Brinley has a secret crush on Adam which Adam somehow knows as he catches her staring at him for too long or trying to impress him by wearing this and that and cooking this and that. Adam gave up on guarding her and joined hands with Xavier in his business and guarding him. He also had developed some feelings for Brinley which he thought he should discard those feelings and maintain a work and family relationship and treat Brinley like his sister.

"I am requesting you as a brother, not as your boss, I can only trust you for her safety Adam... Please try to understand my situation." Xavier sincerely requested Adam and Adam was quite surprised to see his new side which he barely saw. "Seems like this assassination attempt had a great impact on his mental state." Adam thought.

"Alright, but just for three months not more than that." Adam agreed at last and Xavier sighed in relief.
