1 His Death

Emil Kurt was a person you could by no means call good, he was once the one number one mercenary in both war-torn continents, Africa and Asia. His skills have helped escalate delicate diplomatic situations and destroy many fledgling countries that have grown too conceited to notice the guillotine hanging above their necks. Being used as a pawn in the hands of the powerful never excited him but he believed he only had a purpose when using his skills and found the life of a normal person unbearably boring. While most people would want to want to kill him for having such trifle reasons to continue, he believed in being honest with himself.

On a warm day in June, he was given a new contract. It detailed that he is to clear a village in [redacted] so the government could blame it on their neighboring allies, giving them Casus Belli to invade and take the bordering oil wells for themselves. Agreeing to the contract, he set out to do his job.

The job was going well in the beginning, he only had to spray and pray from his vantage point up a hill far away. With his High Explosive munition and Claymore mines placed around every corner, taking care of most of those that tried to run away was easy. He only had to let some get away to spread the news then leave. But as he tried to throw a smoke grenade and cover his position he suddenly lost sight in his right eye and began feeling a warm fluid flow from it.

As his brain shut down in the last minute of his life, he saw with his left eye a child holding a rifle much too oversized for him, the child's face was filled with anger and hate for him. He mused that he probably killed a parent or relative of this child and now the child has avenged him by taking a lucky shot. His last thought was "Finally...".

「The Darkness Sets In」

Emil's soul floated in a sea of darkness feeling its senses had been robbed from it. Suddenly it felt a thought enter its domain and with that thought a booming voice that hurt to listen to spoke.

Voice: "Oh Human? it seems your soul has finally condensed. You won't believe how hard it was to funnel you out of Tartaros without Zeus and Hera finding out... *sigh* I really worked up a sweat since it took about 50 moons"

Voice: "Well? will you not at least thank me...? Oh wait, I nearly forgot you humans usually don't do too well in telepathy..."

Emil suddenly felt something being added to his being. And a new instinct to reach out and convey his thoughts came to him.

Emil: "Who are you and why did you pull me out?"

Voice: "Son of a... have humans always been this ungrateful? well anyways I'm the God of War Ares and I have watched over you ever since you got your first kill. You could say being blessed by me is the only reason you have lived as long as you have while having so many enemies. And I have "pulled you out" because you will entertain me further, a fighter of your coldness and caliber is fun to watch"

Emil: "I have no wish to do anything for you so just return me to where I was."

Ares: "HAHAHAHA, he thinks he has a choice! Anyway, I will send you to a parallel world with Magic and a medieval setting. And just because I'm such a nice guy I'll even throw in an angel that will inhabit your soul and form a system to help you have some fun while I have fun watching you! Oh and don't worry about it taking over or getting a mind of its own, angles are like robots made in Olympus. So they don't live, only serve."

Ares: "Alright Emil, It's time for you to leave. You'll love the body I acquired for you HAHAHAHA!"

Feeling a sudden burning in his soul Emil only saw light as he disappeared from the Dark Realm.
