Frozen and speechless

At a certain five star hotel,

Music pumped loudly from the grand building indicating that a massive celebration was holding there.

On the last floor of this grand hotel, a magnificient ballroom is bathed in a warm, golden glow from the crystal chandeliers. With walls adorned with intricate tapestries and the floor polished to a mirror-like shine.

The masquerade ball was a dazzling spectacle of color and light filled with glittering masks and elaborate costumes. The dance floor was alive with couples whirling and twirling, while the chandeliers above cast a warm glow over the scene. The air was thick with scent of roses and perfume, and the music was a lively mix of classical and modern tunes.

The masquerade ball was also an art exhibition, showcasing the works of several artists. One such artwork was a sculpture entitled 'Eternal spring', depecting a group of figures caught in a perpetual dance. The artist had used a combination of metal and glass to create a dynamic and fluid composition, which seemed to move and change with the light.

Another artwork was a painting entitled 'A thousand moons'. It depicted a surreal landscape, with a sky filled with glowing orbs that looked like moons. It was also the one that most people seemed to pick interest in. Alot of people were willing to purchase and take it home, no matter the price.

The rest of the artworks at the exhibition were equally stunning and thought-provoking. They were diverse and didn't fail to leave a lasting impression on all who saw it.

As the evening progressed, everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives and the atmosphere was charged with joy and excitement.

Well, somewhere beside the bar of this meticulously set ballroom, a lady, Jena White, was spotted with a drink in her hand, dumbly staring around and observing the other guests.

She was looking gorgeous in the vibrant shade of red ballgown she was putting on. The gown had a clean and elegant design with a flowing silhouette that gracefully cascaded to the floor.

Since it was a masquerade ball, her gown was paired with a matching red mask. The mask was an intricate, feminine design, with delicate lace and ribbon accents. It was the perfect accessory for a bold and beautiful lady and it sparkled with the wearer's every movement.

She was a bit skeptical about the dress when her big sister had given it to her earlier that day. But after further examination that soon turned to admiration, she began to appreciate its simple elegance.

While the dress was not particularly elaborate, it still managed to exude an undeniable sense of sophistication and class.

Earlier, while she was testing out the dress, when she looked in the mirror she found herself admiring the way the dress accentuated all her features. Starting from her small waist and hips that flared out gracefully and it made her feel very confident and beautiful.

She was a complete vision of loveliness, only thing being that she was at the party all by herself.

Actually, it was her first time attending an event as grand as this one and so, the identity of the guests were quite a mystery to her. She was hundred percent sure that everyone present there were either CEOs or politicians. Judging from how exhorbitantly they were all dressed, she was certain that this ballroom was filled with the country's most powerful and influential people.

But the warm atmosphere of the room made it a bit convenient for her to adapt, or at least try to..

Earlier that afternoon, she was in the middle of a busy workday when her big sister called her out of the blue and told her to come home immediately. She had to ask for permission from her boss, who luckily understood and let her leave early.

When she arrived home, her sister, Jessy, surprised her with the gown and then tada! Here she was, at a party she knew absolutely nothing about.

Jessy's excuse had been that she was having a bad cramps so she couldn't go.

But Jena knew it was a lie.

She had never for once asked Jena to fill in for her at a party even when she had a good reason to skip one.

In fact, there had been times when Jessy had turned down party invitations in favor of going on a date with 'some guy'. And many other stupid things she deemed important.

Once a time when Jena asked, Jessy yelled that she was going to embarass her if she let her go so how could she suddenly trust that Jena wouldn't embarass or ruin her goddamn reputation now.

But it's not like Jena could say no anyway..

She could only sigh at the memory

So she looked around the room again, taking in the masked, unfamiliar faces and she realised how out of place she felt. Like a fish out of water.

Well, just as she was about to get lost in her thoughts, her phone chimed, pulling her out.

Her shoulders sagged when she saw who was calling.

"Hello" she answered

"Where the hell are you?" Jessy yelled on the other end

"I'm still at the party"

"Any idea how late you are? It's 10:30 pm and you still aren't back here yet" Jessy reminded her and Jena could only shake her head.

Oh, so now she's concerned about the time I got home?

"I'm sorry i'll start heading home now" She replied gently.

"You better" she said and hung up

Jena let out a deep sigh, obviously not wanting to leave the party just like that without having her way with any of the guests she stared at all night.

Some of the guys she saw there looked sweet and charming, the kind of guys who might make good boyfriends. But the ones that caught her attention were the rugged and dangerous looking ones.

She was attracted to the 'bad boy' type, perharps because she had always been the good and innocent girl who wasn't so lucky with her first shot at love. He came as part of the 'sweet and charming' but not too long after, his true colours were revealed. So she concluded that the bad boys were simply the realest of them all and now, she found herself drawn to the idea of something new and different, something that would break the mold of what she had experienced before.

If only she knew how to do it.

She was nothing like her sister or her bestfriend, Anna, who both seemed to have everything they wanted. They had all it took to have literally any guy they wanted, but her...

The least she did at the party was shake hands with the host, co-host, and other high ranking officials and guests, introducing herself and explaining her connection to the event.

It was quite thrilling for her since it was her first time and she felt a sense of pride in it, but that was pretty much the only thing she could boast of doing at this enigmatic event.

As she finally turned to leave,

Thud!

She nearly fell to the ground after hitting something tough in front of her. She thought it was an invisible wall, but when she saw the expensive looking pair of black shoes in front of her, she realised it was actually a human being!

He seemed to have just arrived since the side of the bar was located near the entrance to the ballroom, abit far from where the main event was going on.

Before she could say anything, her eyes fell on the stain of red wine that had spilled onto his expensive looking crisp white shirt.

Panic washed over her as she realised the damage her wine just caused.

So she stood there, frozen and speechless.
