Getting To Know You

"He's not a great guy but merely a weird one. Just like you, you are annoying and he is weird".

Right after breakfast, I went directly to the library of the mansion to have some research of my course requirement in Mrs. McGregor's class. Basically, I didn't have any specific topic that's why I am having this walkthrough.

After awhile, my annoying maid came rushing to me. I didn't expect something from her in helping me in my course requirement because she was a fool and she was only good in cleaning and cooking. All she needed to do was to accompany me. That's all.

I'm starting to find books and articles related to Finance. Or even columns that had something to do with my course as a Business student.

"This is huge. It was like a public library in our town". My annoying maid uttered as she was mesmerized the library in the mansion.

"It was Cross' collection and he was fond of reading books that's why it got bigger and bigger all throughout the years". I explained while scrolling the titles of the books in the shelves.

"What books specifically are you looking for Sir Hans? Maybe I can help you with it" She asked while she was following me.

"Something that relates to Finance eitherway Business books. I need it as a reference for my term paper this semester".

"We can look for those books using the card catalog Sir. Wait me here Sir, I will look for it". She inserted and I didn't think it at first because I was only focusing on finding those books related to my course requirement. She did have a point.

After a minute,

"Sir Hans come here". She called me at the bottom of the library.

"What?" I came to her and saw that she was holding the card catalog.

"This area was exclusive for all Business books". She cheerfully throwing those words and smile as if she won a lotto.

"Okay! Help me find an interesting topic". I commanded her.

I was using the wooden ladder to search for topics in the fourth level of the shelves. I was holding five books which caught my interest.

"Sir Hans, be careful up there!" She called me out of nowhere. Then, I searched for her and saw her down there in the end of the shelves smiling at me.

"I know". I shortly replied.

After awhile, I chose eight books among those thousand books in the Business section. I checked it in the table beside the books shelf and began to read the content one by one.

While focusing on these chosen books I chose. Instantly, my annoying maid appeared in front of me holding a bulk of books.

"What's that?" I exasperately asked.

"Oh well! I thought it will be helpful for you Sir Hans. I have scan all these books and the content was good". She replied and handed the books to me.

"Put that aside. I don't need it!" I frowned in annoyance because she did never help me.

She silently sitting in my front and read the books near me. I took glances on what she was doing and it's good to see how she behave reading in front of me.

Damn! Did I just think of that. Untill I was recaptured and reminded of the scenario last night. It came flashing to my mind and it kept on remarking how she held me in her arms and how I cried in front of her.

Shit! I let her saw me broke down.

But that night, I felt that someone leaned on me and never left me. That was warm and eased the burdens in my heart. I shook my head and bite my lower lip to stop myself from thinking about last night.

"I think this was one is good Sir". She killed the silence between us and commented herself with the book she was reading.

"What made you think that it was good?" I abruptly asked her.

"This book was entitled Attitude 101: What Every Leader Needs To Know. It was written by John C. Maxwell the leading American leadership expert. Dr. Maxwell recognizes that as an individual, your attitude has a profound impact on your life. As a leader, you cannot ignore the attitudes of the people you lead and expect to achieve success—whether you’re leading a business, a family, a sports team, or a group of volunteers. A person’s attitude impacts their relationships, colors their view of failure, and defines their approach to success. Attitude can make or break you". That was brief and she really knew what she was reading.

"Let me see". She handed me the book that she was reading and figured out that she did has a point.

"In Business and also as a future leader Sir Hans, I think you need to consider your members, your constituents and the people working for you. So it's best to have this book because it will help you as leader and it was designed to empower you and your team to succeed by helping you become equipped with the right kind of attitude". She added.

"You're right about it. Did you graduate from high school?" I curiously asked.

"Yes Sir Hans. I completed my junior and senior high school as being in top ten of our class".

"Really? What rank?"

"A-Ahmm...I was at fourth".

"Not bad. So there was still three ahead of you?"

"That's the best I can do Sir Hans and they were really intelligent people like you do".

"The thing is, it's unbelievable you end up here ".

"It's really unbelievable why I end up here but that's was back then and I didn't want think about it because of my situation right now. How about you Sir Hans? What rank are you?"

"Highest honor".

"Amazing! Well! That was so you Sir Hans. Confident and competitive".

"You can say that. Well! I know what to do now!"

That's how I got my reference so that I can start crafting my term paper. I will top again and will get an A+ from Mrs. McGregor's subject.

And she really did help me that time. She really did.

I was having my lunch alone in the university's cafeteria when this guy Thomas seated in front of me holding the tray of his food.

"Hey!" He forced a smile and started to eat his lunch.

I was focusing on my food when he began to ask questions.

"Are we good?" He seriously asked.

"I don't know. You're always causing me troubles". I honestly replied to him.

"I'm sorry. I'm always dragging you around".

"You're right! You're always doing that"

"That day, if I didn't drag you around. You will not be like that, angry and irritated". He was guilty about the fact that he caused all the commotion that day.

"It's fine though. I don't have any parents. Indeed! I was raised by my grand father and it was me who cannot still accept the truth". I looked at him and punched his left shoulder. "But it was not true that I don't have one because I have Cross, my grand father and it is more enough like anybody else". I smiled at him after I spoke what's in my heart.

Then, I remembered how my maid said those words to me. It did comfort me and lessen the pains in my heart. She really was there and never left my side until I was all okay.

"But still people talk about you and they were making these shit talks and nonsense babbles because you don't have any parents. And it all started when I dragged you around". He was wearing this gloomy and regretful face.

"That's the perk of being a Robinson and besides I really don't care about those people. Come on man. That was not so you".

"Are we still friends?" One question came from him and then the pressure lessened a bit.

"Of course Thomas". I brightly replied.

"You're the man Hans!" And that sad and guilty face turned into his normal state.

That was so him. Dynamic as ever and full of enthusiasm. He maybe a little weird but he's a nice guy and he's my friend afterall.

After class, I directly went home to take a good rest. Again, my maid welcomed me like she always did, smiling brightly and waiting for me. That was her routine everyday.

I changed my clothes and rested at my bed. I was staring at the ceiling of my room thinking about these stray thoughts in my head. While having this deep thinking, my maid knocked at the door of my room and entered with the snacks she prepared.

"Just put in the table. I still don't have the appetite". I held my phone and started to update in the website where all the students of New Heights can access.

"Enjoy your food Sir Hans". She uttered and taking her steps to the door.

"Wait!" I fastly said and began to ask her. "Do you have friends?" And then I switched my eyes looking at her.

"I have a lot Sir Hans and they were really good to me". She replied with smiles in her face.

"So you are more of a friendly and extrovert persona. It doesn't look that way but not bad". I criticized her appearance if she really was friendly.

"Well! You can say that Sir Hans. How about you, are you more of a friendly type or the timid one?"

"It's neither of the two. I'm not friendly and also I'm not a timid person. I don't have friends like you during high school because they were all users and pretentious who used to be friends with me because I am a Robinson. That was why I began to distance myself from people like them but right now I have one". Right, he was my friend and he was different from those bastards back then.

"You've gone through a lot Sir Hans because of those people but I think that friend of yours is a great man though".

"He's not a great guy but merely a weird one. Just like you, you are annoying and he is weird". I can see how she tried to force a smile in front of me after articulating those words and how she cannot look directly in my eyes.

"Just forget about me Sir Hans. Let's talk about your friend. He's weird right! Oh yeah! Being weird is something great though and he's a worthy friend to begin with. Uh! I want to meet him". And her eagerness came out from nowhere.

"No! I don't want you to meet him".

"Why Sir Hans? I'm pretty much excited to see him".

"You can't do that! And he will know that I still have a personal maid. Who on Earth could have one? A handsome, rich, and intelligent guy like me is still babysitting. Hell no!"

"It's not a bad thing Sir Hans. Besides I am good in taking care of you".

"NO! What will they say to me? And you're ugly".

"I'm pretty famous back then you know. You see me as ugly because I am wearing this maid uniform all the time. Really, nothing changed on how he affront my appearance. What a heartless man". She was talking to herself and I couldn't grasp any single words coming from her.

"What are you talking?" I asked her.

"Ah! I forgot to iron the curtains. So I am taking my leave Sir Hans. Bye!". She hurriedly ran to the door of my room.

"Hey! I'm still talking to you". But she didn't look back and went outside my room.

She was really annoying as ever. How could she leave like that? We still had many things to talk about.

And the fact was, she's really my annoying maid.
