Chapter Two

Miles POV:

Standing in the office, I let out my breathe. I waited for the day I would find my mate. I didn't expect it to be Ava. But I'm glad it was someone I knew and trusted. I've learned so much over the years and couldn't wait to come back here and finally show my pack what their King has become.

A knock on the door singled as Ariel and Freddy walked in. My younger sister and Freddy both have grown so much over the years. Ariel looked exactly like mother, with her blonde hair and her creatures but of course we both have our fathers eyes. My wolf compared Ava's eyes to the girls I have met along the way and it still couldn't compare. They were so ocean blue I could look into them and never get bored of staring. I shook my head and cleared my mind.

"Ariel and Freddy. Please sit." They nodded and gracefully sat in the two seats before me.

"I've spoken with Gara. The oracle from Montana. She will be coming tomorrow afternoon to stay for awhile. She has bad news. There will be a war happening in the future. But she doesn't know details yet. Freddy, you will start training with the men tomorrow at eight. Ariel, you will train women at nine." They both nodded. I know they won't repeat the information to anyone that doesn't need to know.

They both left as I made my way to my bedroom down the hall and up two flights of stairs. Stepping in, I found Ava waiting on my dark blue bed. She looked beautiful sitting there with her hair covering her shoulders.

"Yes?" I asked. Being patient wasn't a trait I had, this she should know.

"I'm your mate. Is there anything we should talk about?" I looked at her with a blank stare.

Be with her. Mark her!!

I blocked my wolf's connection and started walking slowly to my closet.

"No. Please leave. We can talk another time. I need rest for tomorrow." She sighed with disappointment. I didn't want a mate right now. Not with this war about to happen. She should know I value the pack over anyone else. Ava walked out the door as I laid on my bed. I felt someone pushing through to mind-link me but I forced them away and turned off the lights.
