1 Chapter 1: The Scattered and Burning Amaryllis Petals

[Present Events]

Princess Peachy is at the Stone Monument, a vantage point where anyone can see the Veritus Kingdom below.

"Why did it come to this?"

Princess Peachy's voice shook, tears fell from her eyes as her knees caved in, she watches as her Kingdom burns to the ground.

The smell of burning flowers hurts her nostrils, but she inhales the burning smell as she helplessly continues to watch her Kingdom be engulfed in flames.

Flower petals burns and turns into ash in the air.

A beautiful Kingdom reduce to ashes, and Princess Peachy has no power to stop it.

"Why did you entrust everything to me? You know that I am not capable, and yet you smiled at me with confidence"

Peachy mumbles clutching the grass underneath her.

"It was better if you were the one-"

"Princess, there is no use watching like this, we need to escape"

"I want to follow my sister..."

Princess Peachy wailed, the two women placed a hand on her shoulder and uttered the words 'Sleep'

She loses her consciousness while tears still flow down her eyes.

A man with long white hair carries her, he then looks at the others.

"Let's go, we can't fail the Queen"

All of them mounted their horses, the white haired man cradled Peachy in his arms supporting her so that she won't fall.

They took off away from the burning Kingdom, when they were finally far from the Kingdom they rested.

"They purposely attacked the Veritus Kingdom first, because that is the Polygon Empires' first line of defence, who would have known? Even the Queen was startled and confused how they managed to immediately invade the Kingdom"

"DAMMIT! COWARDS!"

"There is no doubt that my Kingdom also succumbed to the Hexagons' Empires Invasion"

"I'm sorry to hear that Prince Calcifer"

"The old man will never let anyone take the throne unless he hands it willingly, because I am busy being at the Veritus Kingdom and isn't there to help, I know that the worst case scenario already happened"

"King Zavan is a strong King, why would you say that?"

"He maybe strong but he is also stubborn, I am not saying it out of spite I am saying the truth"

"Prince Calcifer knows his Father out of all of us here."

"Still we need to see if your Kingdom really is invaded, we need to make sure"

"I'm going to cry if we see my Kingdom"

"Let's rest for now"

The next day, they travelled to Prince Calcifers' Kingdom, what the Prince expected to be in ruins is still intact.

"Such negativity last night"

"Haha..."

He gave a nervous chuckle, they entered the Kingdom, but they had a bit of difficulty, Prince Calcifers Kingdom is on high alert because of the invasion of the Hexagon Empire, the Knights that guard the gates weren't convinced he was the Crowned Prince.

But when he showed the proof of his heritage they apologised and let them pass, they immediately went to the Palace the moment they entered the Kingdom.

"Father!"

"Calcifer?"

"I'm-"

"I see you succeed, but sadly son, you need to get away from the Rasea Kingdom, this Kingdom will be taken next"

"Then Father let me-"

"You are my only son, I will not hand you the throne now, because the Veritus Kingdom fell, this Kingdom will inevitably fall, the defence of the Polygon Empire has been bested by the Hexagon Empire, all of you must run, escape and live to fight another day."

"Your majesty"

"Yes, I know"

"If you will fight in the front lines then what about the Kingdom?! Who will take care of the people when the enemy enters here?!"

"We already evacuated the civilians, they should not die a meaningless death because they are caught in war"

"You will sacrifice yourself...?"

"This is not a sacrifice son, dying as the King of Rasea Kingdom is a great honour, when the Kingdom falls so to will the ruler, he will fall with his Kingdom, his predecessors will be the one to reclaim the land once again, this is why you all must escape"

"Father..."

Prince Calcifer lowered his head, his eyes filled with tears, the King hugs his son for the last time before he goes into battle.

"Princess Peachy, I am also sure that your sister entrusted you to reclaim the Veritus Kingdom as well"

"..."

"Your sister is a valiant Queen, she has proven herself to the people to the nobles and to the royals what she is capable off, be proud of her"

Peachy cried once again, the King looks at the others.

"Protect Peachy, you are the only one's that can" they nod "It is a shame that I was not at the wedding ceremony for my son, but circumstances arises, and we must deal with it, escape now before the battle begins here, go further west you will arrive in the town of Tuscany, be vigilant, if the battle reaches their escape once again until you are safe"

"Father, thank you for having me"

"It was pure joy when you were born Calcifer, now go!"

The party escapes once again, the moment they leave that is when the battle began, Prince Calcifer fought the urge to return to his Kingdom.

"Hang in their Prince"

"Thank you"

Everyone was In deep anguish, but they pushed through until the moon revealed itself once again.

"Princess Peachy, you need to eat"

"I do not have any appetite, sorry"

"I am so frustrated, why can't we fight back?!"

"In this state it would just be suicide"

"Then we just continue running like this?!"

"I know you are frustrated Yella but, this is the only thing we can do right now, everyone is frustrated and angry"

"We need to secure a good army to join in one of the Kingdoms so that we could fight back"

"Until we join one, we keep running"

"What about Scalene?"

"The Capital?"

"Surely that place is well secured"

"It's not easy to go straight towards the Capital of the Empire, the enemy definitely went out of their way to block and secure the borders to the Capital, anyone who would pass there is an enemy, they will likely be killed."

"Then what will we do?"

"Go around, until we reach it"

"Some of the town or cities maybe protected by the Capitals' Knights already, if we are lucky that we can get inside, that will be our safe zone"

"For now we need to rest again"

They continued to travel west when the sun rose, until they finally reach the town of Tuscany, when they arrived they rented rooms for them, the two women stayed with the Princess not wanting her to be alone.

The three men had separate rooms, even with somewhere safe to sleep they all had trouble sleeping.

In the Princess room, the two women still urges Peachy to eat even though it is a bit late now, Peachy hasn't been eating for almost a week now since they started travelling, she became very thin almost as quick.

"You are going to get sick Princess, the dark circles in your eyes are already visible"

"I can't sleep as comfortably as before, I'm sorry"

"Please don't apologise, just take a little bite, we are concerned for your health"

Peachy looked at the two, they had worried expressions written on their faces.

Peachy takes the bowl of porridge and started eating ever so slowly, when she started eating the two women smiled at her.

"Thank you for eating once again, Princess"

She is eating, but then her eyes were starting to well up, until the tears flowed none stop once more, the memories of how happy she was before the invasion is etched in her mind.

"Princess..."

"It's Okay"

"I don't understand why I am still here. I am weak..."

"Maybe she wanted you to become strong Princess Peachy that's why..."

"How can I become strong?"

"First you need to wipe your tears, and get some rest, you need to regain your strength"

Princess Peachy's continues to sob, she hands the bowl of half-eaten porridge back to them, she lays down still crying.

Both of them sooth her by gently patting her shoulder to sleep.

"She's going through so much, I wish we could do more for her"

"The only thing we can do for her is to be there for her"

"I actually had a thought when we were escaping the Palace, if one of us suddenly-"

"Maise!"

"Sorry"

"Never think of such things, If you are going to think like that again..."

"I'm the elder sibling here, and you're the one scolding me, did our roles reverse?"

"It's already late, let's get to bed, and stop with the ominous thoughts"

While the girls are about to go to sleep the men was still wide awake, especially Prince Calcifer.

"You better not die old man"

He whispered in the air, he was gazing at the window, the soft glow of the moonlight is the only source of light inside his room.

"Everything happened so fast, curse the Hexagon Empire."

He finally lays down on his bed, it looks like Prince Calcifer would not be sleeping this time too.
