2 - Lawliet

"Poor girl! Making a scene in front of everybody might not have been the best solution. I feel for her," Vash told me while he ate a fork full of coleslaw. "She seems to be insanely intelligent," Joshua said softly as he looked down at his own french fries and chicken burger. "Hey, Mello? Where are you going with those tomatoes?" Rikku asked as he passed us. "Well, isn't it obvious?" He spat. "Sorry, for breathing!" She said in a mere whisper. I just sat there and enjoyed my sweet treats while listening to their conversation. "You're being outrageously quiet. Is everything okay?" Vash asked as he put his fork down. "But of course! He's just being L," Griselle exclaimed. "Shut up, G! Yeah sure, his always quiet when he's carefully considering things. Do you like her?" Rikku asked me in dismay. I jolted up straight. "Are you crazy!? She might be pleasantly soft on the eye, but..." I swallowed my sentence. I didn't want to tell them just what I'm thinking- that she might be stalking me. Even Rikku looked relieved with my comeback. "But what?" Vash asked looking at me. "Nothing!" He knew that something was up; still he didn't pry. "Say it as it is man- she's a babe! I won't mind being alone with her," Paul said lost in thought. "That will never happen!" Joshua said barely noticeable. "What? Speak up, J!" Paul is being his own, jackass, self. "Cool it bro! I have to agree with him. You don't stand a chance. Face it- if Mello really did take her a tomato basket, as a peace offering, you can be sure that they'll be friends by the end of the day. He hates your guts, so he'll properly warn her to stay as far away from you as physically possible. No offense man, but you really are a jerk!" Ness told him straight forward. I need to bliss this flame before they burn down the building. I gave Paul a stern look. "No offense taken!" He exclaimed bitterly. Paul was just about to stand up and leave, after a few minutes of small talk had passed, when Naru said: "Hey, Mellowness! I take it she excepted your offer, being empty-handed and all?" He snarled at us. "Bite me!" Mello spat. "Why are you being so rude man? He was just asking!" Milk exclaimed. I was just tuned in to their silly conversation. "Yeah! As a matter of fact- Angel is awesome!" I looked up at him. It's like hearing her name, somehow, made my heart jump. Paul was the one to command, "Angel?" He snickered a little. "Actually yeah! It won't hurt any of you to befriend her, she's very delightful. At second thought, perhaps not- so don't even bother! I'll be sure to share my friends with her, bye-bye!" With that he left. He sure is a quick one to act.

"What's with you? Thought you might want to share when we're alone," Vash asked as we walked towards our rooms, across the hall from each other. "She's been checking me out- twice! First, from her bedroom window while I was fooling around on the tennis court and Secondly, while she was waiting in line," I told him. "And? What's the problem? She is beautiful!" Vash asked me confused. "I know- Rikku is the problem, you know how she can be..." He arched his brows. "But, I thought you've said that things between the two of you had changed?" He asked me rhetorically. "It had! Haven't you seen her reaction when she asked if I liked the new girl? Nothing had been the same after you've walked in on us." He gave me a slight punch on the shoulder. "Sorry man, that was an awkward moment," he apologized for the millionth time. "It's fine, if only Watari wasn't with you- it wouldn't have bothered me so much." We burst out in bubbles of laughter. After, a quick shower I went back to my room. Dressed in black tracksuit pants and a loose vest. I laid stretched out on my bed. My arms underneath my head. What's that girl's problem?

"The shower is all yours. See you tomorrow!" I greeted Vash as I left the dressing room. Accidentally I bumped into the new girl. "You should watch where you're going!" She looked up at me, a serious expression painted all over her face as she came to her feet, saying: "Excuse me? I'm not the one who bumped into me. I've been picking up my toiletries bag, which I've apparently dropped, when you've walked me out of the way." I looked at her in total disbelief. "A simple, I'm sorry- would've done as to fabricate a story." How dare she? "Are you referring to me as a liar?" My eyes grew in size. "Are you not familiar with that term? Liar as in somebody who tells lies. Lie- as in a false statement!" Who does she think she is, correcting me? "I wouldn't take him lightly if I were you. Don't you know who he is?" A girl asked from the shadows, Tohru. She's one of my friends but a friend of Mello's too. "I'm afraid we've never got that far, exchanging info and all. Who are you luring in the shadows?" Tohru joined my side and answered, "I'm Tohru a friend of Mello's. This is L, he too is a friend of mine," she kindly introduced herself. "L? Oh, L... I mean no disrespect, but you look like no genius to me. No offense dude, but I don't like you and you're so- So slovenly dressed." Tohru closed her mouth with an open palm in total shock. "Untidy, careless- yeah I know that much. Being an absentminded genius has nothing to do with your appearance. Other than you I'm not pretending to be- I am, superior!" She gave a few steps closer towards me and slapped me. "How dare you? Who do you think you are- God? Well, go screw yourself- L!" I watched as she ran away with a tear streaked face. "Whatever your intentions, I guess you've won by pushing her away. Well done! If you wanted her to hate you, you've just contained victory!" Tohru told me. "I get your point, but that wa- never mind. It's nothing!" I turned around and walked towards my room.

Now

She hates me! I will have to do something about this matter, but I stand little chance with her if she really is friends with Mello. We, Mello and I, never really got along. I like her, whomever she could be, but she is so- so... arrogant and proper and, and meticulous! Staring up at the ceiling, I can't seem to get her out of my mind. I touched my cheek, where she left her hand print behind. I have struck the wrong cord. She was crying when she ran away. A heart of stone can't break. What am I thinking? Why am I analyzing her as an alien? Sure, she's the most gorgeous creature that I've ever seen, but she's politically correct and her irreproachability irritates me.
