2 A Strange Place

Lex awoke shivering from the cold with a stabbing pain in his lower back.

'Did I knock the covers off me!? Why is it so cold!' Lex thought to himself in annoyance as he rubbed his eyes before opening them.

Lex opened his eyes and to his surprise, a wall of bricks stood where his bed once was. 'This doesn't look like my room?' He thought to himself as rubbed his eyes yet again.

Lex opened his eyes yet again and realised he wasn't dreaming. Adrenaline overcame his whole body as he shot upwards.

'Am I dead!?' He thought as he checked his pulse. He realised he was, in fact, still alive. Lex started frantically touching the walls with his shaking to see if they were real.

As his fingertips touched the damp mossy stone bricks he realised that this wasn't a dream. 'Did someone kidnap me!?' Lex thought with wide eyes as he covered his mouth.

He took a few deep breaths, in an attempt to try and calm himself down, before considering what he should do.

'I need to find a way out of here!' Was the only thought that echoed inside of his head as he slowly moved around what seemed to be a maze, checking each corner before he turned, he carried on walking down the uncanny path.

The walls were made up of jagged damp mossy stone bricks that met at the ceiling with the form of an arch, every three dozen or so bricks had a chain attached to a chandelier that dimly lit up the area below.

Lex was grateful that he was still wearing the work uniform that he fell asleep in, although, his socks were quite damp from walking on the damp bricks below him and felt an extremely uncomfortable stabbing pain with each step.

He took off his blue tie thinking he could use it as a weapon just in case he found anyone whilst walking around, he carefully wrapped the tie around both of his hands before holding onto it tightly in preparation for the worst.

Around the corner, to his surprise, stood a Skeleton. Each of its bones was chipped all over with yellowish bone marrow slowly falling out of the larger gaps, it swayed its torso slightly with each step in an attempt to keep its body upright whilst heading towards him. Seeing this sight Lex quickly jumped back around the corner of the wall.

'That thing is so creepy, what the hell!!!' A wide-eyed Lex thought to himself as he attempted to get another peek, the Skeleton's jaw crackled with step, its eyes were hollow with nothing but a gloomy void where there would be eyes.

Lex took a few deep breaths to calm himself down from what was going on, he performed a very heavy and long blink, as if he was attempting to force his brain to work as thought to himself.

There was no way this is the world he knew, in the world he knew Skeletons didn't just get up and walk, in fact, they didn't move at all. 'Unless someone is controlling them?' Lex thought as he powdered the possibilities of what could have happened whilst he was asleep.

'Did I die?' Was the first thought that crossed his mind when he thought of possibly being reincarnated into another world, but he also had an eerie feeling that he knew this place he was in.

Lex's brain could only come to one conclusion whilst he thought 'World Of The Chosen' He always thought that the game's name was odd but there was no way he was summoned here right?

'Does this mean I have stats j-' He thought before words suddenly appeared in front of him dead centre of his vision, it also seemed to stay dead centre no matter where he looked as if it had been tattooed onto his eyeballs.

'Woah, this seems too good to be true! I mean the stats do seem accurate for me...' Lex thought with a slight smile, if this was the world he knew then he also knew that he wouldn't have a problem getting stronger in no time.

He also realised he had three attribute points, he decided to spend them right away instead of wasting time without them, he ended up adding a point into Strength and two points into Agility.

Strength: 2 [+]

Agility: 3 [+]

In the game when you added a point into a stat it made that stat 10% stronger, Strength made the player stronger defensively, by adding Health, and physically, Agility made the player's perception sharper and caused them to perceive things and move quicker and caused the player to gain more Stamina, Wisdom increased a player's Mana and spell damage and capacity.

Once a stat reached a multiple of 10 the players physical body would change, for example, Strength caused the player to gain more muscle, Agility made their senses and mind sharper allowing them to react quicker, Wisdom caused the player's Mana to become larger and stronger this increased spell capacity too.

Everyone started at a different baseline, with humans being in the middle of the spectrum, for example, a goblin would start with less baseline Strength and Wisdom but higher Agility than a human.

There was a multitude of demi-humans, humans and monsters in this world all with different starting points.

The only oddity was that Lex was human, and every human started off with 10 in each stat meaning that they were 100% average in Strength, Agility and Wisdom.

Lex didn't think about it too much as he tightly wrapped his right fist with the tie that he had.

'I guess I'll need to get stronger then!' Lex exclaimed in his head as he charged towards the Skeleton.
