1 Surprise

Life is just one big crap pool.

"Excuse me..."

That's one thing Haruta, yes a boy, has always thought.

Haruta turned around and looked at the girl that had uttered those two words. He had never spoke to this girl before, nor has he ever seen her.

"My...my name is Ayumi..." The girl informed Haruta.

However, Haruta didn't care who on earth this girl was.

"I'm sorry." Haruta gave the girl a comforting smile. "I'm not into girls."

The girl's expression became shocked and distraught. She turned pale and ran off.

"What number was that girl?" Haruta asked himself. He couldn't keep track of the number of girls that walked up to him just to speak with him.

Haruta knew what they had in mind of doing, though. They had planned to get closer to him in order to date him.

No matter where Haruta went, he was surrounded by girls. This may sound like something to be proud of, but to Haruta, he hated it with passion. He hated women.

He hated how he had a name similar to a girls. His name "Haruta" was too girly for him. He wished his mom would have named him something more manly. Instead, she just stuck with this girly name.

"Oh well." Haruta sighed. He knew there wasn't anything he couldn't do about the situation he was in.

He just, at the moment, had been waiting for his best friend Eiji. Him and Eiji had been best friends since they were born. The one thing they loved doing together was playing video games. Thankfully, they planned on meeting up in order to get the newest recent game that had just released.

Issekai New World was the newest, hottest game. When both Haruta and Eiji heard about the games existence, they knew they needed it.

"Sorry for making you wait, Haruta!" Eiji came running to Haruta.

"Took you long enough," Haruta sighed from exhaustion, "I was hit on again by another girl."

"You are so lucky, Haruta." Eiji cried.

"Whatever. Shall we go buy the game now? I want to go play it."

"Yeah. Let's go."

Both of them began walking towards the entrance of the game shop. The line for the video game was long. It was long enough to reach the street.

"Oh my God." Eiji's mouth dropped to the floor. "Seems like everyone wants to buy this game."

"Seems like it." Haruta was shocked by the amount of people waiting. He wondered if he would be able to enter the store with Eiji at all.

"Well, let's go wait in line." Eiji was eager to get the game.

"Wait, seriously? We are going to wait in line?"

"Yeah, why not?"

"Don't you think the line will die down tomorrow?"

"I highly doubt that, Haruta. Besides, didn't we want to buy this game TODAY?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Then, come on!" Eiji then grabbed Haruta's arm and pulled him into the line. "Now if we really want this game, this line will be nothing for us."

"Yeah." Haruta smiled.

Haruta and Eiji waited in line for an hour or so before reaching the entrance of the store. "We made it!" Eiji sighed in relief.

"Finally." Haruta contributed.

Haruta took a step into the store and an alarm went off. This wasn't any normal alarm. It kind of sounded like cheerful music.

"What in the world?" Haruta began looking around the game shop to see what was happening.

Suddenly, confetti shot into the air and Haruta was covered in it.

"Congratulations!" The game shop workers cheered.

Haruta was confused about what was happening. Everyone in line for the video game was staring as Haruta.

"Congratulations for what?" Haruta wondered.

"Congratulations for being the 1000th customer today!"

The tables have seemed to turn for Haruta today. Even though he was hit on like always, things seemed to be looking brighter.

"Wait, so that means I won something?" Haruta questioned. He wanted ro make sure if this was a fib.

"Yep! You won a free character model." The manager explained to him.

"What?! Really?!" Eiji joined the conversation.

"Bring out the character!" The manager told the other workers.

The workers went to the back of the store and brought out a box with the character inside. Haruta's heart began to race until the workers came closer.

When they brought the character to Haruta, Haruta's face turned pale, and Eiji began to laugh. Haruta's bright life turned back to being bleak. The character was the thing he hated the most: a girl.

"A...girl?" Haruta's face looked very unhappy.

"Sorry, this is the last of the special character models we have. Everyone else took the other ones." The manager explained.

"I..." Haruta was having a hard time thinking of what to do. He knew that if he said no, others would think that he was ungrateful. On the other hand, if he were to accept it, he wouldn't be able to use it. "Um...how much do the other character models cost?" Haruta decided to ask. He felt that it may be alright to buy both of them and give the girl model to his younger brother.

"About $150 for one." The manager informed him.

Haruta's heart hurt after hearing the price of the character model. The game itself already cost $500 dollars, and both Eiji and Haruta had to buy separate games fro their own VR headset.

Haruta didn't need to ponder any longer. He made up his mind. "I'll take the girl model."

"Excellent choice."

After that day, Haruta left with a game and the female character model in hand. He felt the urge to cry as he and Eiji were walking back home.

"I can't believe you got a girl model!" Eiji couldn't stop laughing.

"Shut up. I'll level up this character to the point of being OP (over powered)." Haruta snapped.

"Can't wait." Eiji held in his laughter.

What other things will be in store for poor Haruta?
