9 Chapter 9 First Quest

"Sorry about last night, we should have told you first," Zara said shyly.

"No, I'm not angry" Ethan replied.

"Really," Zara said smiling.

"Yes"

(If it wasn't for them you would be dead, so you can't be angry cause they saved your life)

"Zara can you tell me more about this world, not about magic," Ethan asked her.

"Sure, I'm coming," Zara said and ran to her room.

Zara returned with a book containing information about the world and Ethan saw things that surprised him.

This world was ruled and dominated by women, mainly because they were stronger than males, and in terms of population, women make up 99% of the world's population.

Instead of Kings, they had Queens, Instead of crown princes they had princesses, all the armies were made up of women with as few as five male warriors in an entire kingdom.

Males were protected around the whole world so they were not allowed to join the army, join a guild, become an adventurer, or participate in raids.

The only exception was if the male showed extreme potential, most likely a genius capable of fighting against a female.

All living beings in the world had a Mana core from birth as tiny as a fruit seed, but over time the Mana core increases in size and capacity storing Mana gradually till the age of fifteen when their abilities would manifest.

That Mana can now be used to cast spells, improve sword handling, slow aging process, and many impossible feats but this was only possible for females.

When a male child reaches the age of 10, their Mana core stays exactly the same for the rest of their life, barely leaving them enough Mana to survive, only a few males were able to break the threshold with extreme training.

Most males don't bother training themselves as it was useless, why pass through hell just to join the army when you can have all you want, girls flocking over you, having sex as many times a day as you want, being protected first in times of danger or war.

This reason was why most males don't bother training and just live their lives as they see fit, eating, drinking, sleeping around, being guarded at all times, and having different girls wait in line for you, who wouldn't want a life like that.

As Ethan read through the book, Zara helped him with the explanation, not everything was mentioned in the book, Ethan opened through pages reading through them till he got to the history of other kingdoms.

"This isn't a part you should read," Zara said with her head down.

"Why?" Ethan asked.

"It's frightening, though this year would mark ten years of peace without any attack from any of the six major kingdoms" Zara spoke.

"The six major kingdoms?"

"Yes, humans, beastkin, light Elves, Dark Elves, Vampire, and Demons..."

"Demons..."

"Yes, though like the dark elves, demons also don't associate with humans or any other race, the only reason they agreed to end the war was that all the other kingdoms had already signed the peace treaty, and they wouldn't be able to withstand an attack from the five kingdoms" Zara explained.

"But beastkin and humans coexist in this village right?"

"Yes, all races are welcome in the human capital, but few humans travel to other kingdoms except males, females from other kingdoms travel here because of human males," Zara said.

"Are humans males that important?" Ethan asked.

"Yes," Zara simply replied, Ethan didn't want to go into details so he skipped to another page.

"I heard about the mating season?" Ethan said.

"Yes...the mating season is one of the most important times in the world and another reason the peace treaty was agreed to, but the Queen made a decree"

"During all mating seasons, human males must first mate with human females to increase the chances of birthing another human male before other races and species could have them, but this is only in the human kingdom" Zara continued.

"So during the mating season I must have sex with anyone, isn't there something to avoid that?" Ethan asked.

"There is, but only if you are the son of the Queen, or one of the princesses, or a high-ranking official, but joining the army also reduces mating"

"Males joining the army is extremely rare but if a male passes the requirements and joins the magic academy or the knight academy, he would be the one to choose who to mate with, but he must mate with at least one female each day during the mating season" Zara continued with her explanation.

"Being a male is really hard" Ethan said.

"Yes...but females are the ones risking their lives to protect the kingdom, unintelligent beasts still attack the kingdom, beast dungeons scattered around the world, inventing new spells...so the life of a female is much harder," Zara told Ethan.

"You are probably right" Ethan mumbled.

"Zara, I'm leaving" Leia announced as she stepped out of the room fully dressed.

"Okay mum, say hi to Grandma for me" Zara replied.

"Is she going out?" Ethan asked.

"Yes, she's visiting her mum in the other village," Zara said.

"Bye," Leia announced and left the house.

For almost a minute Ethan and Zara looked at themselves awkwardly without either of them uttering a single word.

(Bro what are you doing, her mum is gone, make the move).

'No I'm not going to do anything' Ethan said.

(So you want her to do all the work, what kind of host are you, ya useless)

'Hey don't talk to me like that'.

"I'm going to my room," Zara said and left the living room.

'Haaa, she's gone' Ethan breathed a sigh of relief.

(She just invited you)

"Huh! how do you know," Ethan said as Zara left the room.

(This is her house, but she told you she was going to her room, which means she wants you to come with her)

"That's not what it meant" Ethan agured.

*Ding*

The system notification rang in Ethan's head.

'What!!..' Ethan was surprised but Hal on the other hand was extremely happy.
