16 Chapter 16: She's A Goddess

NONA'S POV:

The second I see her I know exactly who she is. When people said they looked almost identical, they weren't exaggerating. She could be her brother if it wasn't for the colour of her hair and the slightness of her frame. She's definitely skinnier than Creed, curvier too.

She's a girl and as much as she looks just like Creed, there's no denying that she's all woman.

I consider approaching her. I've wanted to meet her for longer than I can remember. Creed talks about her a lot. He's always said they're really close and so I can't help but wonder if he's spoken to her about me.

Although based on the recent change in his attitude towards me, it probably doesn't matter either way. If he was interested last week, he doesn't seem to be now. It's disappointing but sort of to be expected, I suppose. Those boys get more attention than I get hot dinners. His eyes were bound to wander eventually.

It's not like he's made me any promises or even took me out on a date.

We've flirted, that's it.

If anything I got ahead of myself, thinking it was more than it actually was. I turn to walk away, trying my best to ignore the temptation to introduce myself, when she calls out my name.

"Nona!"

I'm floored. How does she even know who I am? Hope bubbles in my tummy and I begin to think that all might not be lost after all. I look her way and its definitely her who called me.

She's waving excitably with a big, friendly smile plastered on her face. I stand stock still as she strides the distance between us.

If Creed is a god, she's a goddess. Her long legs put mine to shame. I try to remind myself that she's wearing heals while I'm just in pumps, but it does nothing for my self-esteem.

Thank hell I don't have to compete with her for Creed, I find myself thinking. Definitely better for the guy you like to have a super hot sister than a super hot ex.

When she's right in front of me I realise that I'm being rude.

"Hi," I say awkwardly.

"Nona, right?" She smiles at me as if seeing me has just made her day a hundred times better. "Fancy getting a drink?" She waits for my response and when it doesn't come, she lets out a melodic laugh. "Sorry. I'm Clover, by the way."

Shaking my thoughts away, I grin at her.

"I guessed. You look..." I begin.

"Just like Creed?"

"Exactly like Creed! It's scary how..." My voice dwindles as I continue to stare at the face that is both familiar and new. I try to pick out all the things that make them different but it's not easy.

"My brother told me all about you," she's saying, and her words cause my breath to catch, "and so I really wanted to meet you for myself."

"Really?" I sound like a mouse, high pitched and squeaky.

"Yeah. I think he's working himself up to asking you out." She plays with her hair, glancing at me from behind her lashes, watching for my reaction. If I didn't know Creed better, I'd think he sent her to test the waters. "But he's a bit stressed at the moment with the new album so you'll probably get stuck waiting a little longer."

"Huh?" I'm completely lost. What am I waiting for? Creed to ask me out?

"I think he'll get around to asking you out after the launch of the new album. I heard today that they haven't even got one song ready." Her expression is covered in sisterly concern. "I came home to help them."

She pauses for a second before pulling on my arm so she can link hers with mine.

"Anyway, I'm totally rambling. Let's get that drink!" Then she's pulling me out the door by the arm and I'm following after her completely willingly.

She's super chatty as we walk the short distance to the nearest pub. I'm working up the courage to ask her about Creed. This might be the best chance I'll ever get to find out more about him.

"How long have you been back?" I ask a few moments later as we grab a table, drinks in hand.

"Just a few days."

"Because of Creed's accident?"

Her eyes dart to mine. She's not quick to reply. Suddenly the girl that hasn't stopped talking since the moment I met her is silent.

Just as I'm about to change the subject, she says, "yeah. My parents were quite scared."

The look on her face doesn't match the situation. Her brother is fine. He wasn't badly hurt at all and yet her expression could convince you that he'd died in that crash.

"Creed said you've been travelling," I try to ease the tension that the conversation has somehow created. "Where did you go?"

"Oh," her face brightens, "here and there." She giggles before listing off almost the whole of Europe and then some.

We sit there in that pub until its dark outside. I ask her about a million questions about Creed and she answers them without pause. She's eager to tell me and it makes me wonder just how much her brother has talked about me. Perhaps he does like me after all.

Saving My Heart Lyrics

I kiss with my lips

I dance with my feet

I snuggle with my arms

She can have them all

But she can't have my heart

I'm saving it for you

I'm saving my heart

I'm saving it for you

I'm saving it for you

Those three words

I love you, I love you

I'm saving them for you

I'll give her pretty words

I'll show her a good time

I'll keep her happy

She can have it all

But she can't have my heart

I'm saving it for you

I'll show her the world

I'll buy her pretty shoes

She can wear me

Like an accessory

But she can't have my heart

I'm saving it for you

I haven't even met you yet

I don't know your name

The only thing I know is

She's not you, she's not you

So, I'm saving my heart
