27 Chapter 27

On a desolate forest path.

Logan and Daphne were currently sitting on the branch of a tree, looking at the forest path, seemingly waiting for something.

"Are you sure they will go through this path?" Logan asked Daphne the same question for the umpteenth time.

"Yes, now if you don't mind, I want to concentrate on our surroundings." Daphne replied, a little annoyed.

"I know, it's just that we've been sitting here for some time now so I wanted to confirm." Logan was a little nervous about the mission.

According to the mission, they would be confronting a group of vampires that had been involved in a couple of missing people cases close to their town. This group consisted of four Rank Two vampires. Since Logan was still a Rank One werewolf, and Daphne was in Rank Three, the organization felt they could handle the situation even with a disadvantage in numbers.

Logan was about to speak again when he sensed something rushing in their direction. They heard rushed footsteps coming from the southwest.

"Don't move." Daphne whispered.

Logan nodded and looked in the direction the footsteps were coming from.

Before long, they saw four youths running quickly in their direction. The group of four consisted of two young men and ladies. A strong scent of bloodlust came along with them.

Daphne tapped him and whispered, "Let's follow them."

She wanted to see where they were going. Logan nodded and they followed the youths as they ran past.

They followed them for a few minutes and arrived in a wooden house built deep in the forest. If they didn't follow the youths, they would never have known of this being here in the first place. It was located in a well-hidden location in the forest, away from where people would wander to.

When they got there, they heard the screams of people. From what they could sense, there were at least ten humans inside the place.

"They caught people, using them for live feeding." Daphne quickly accessed the situation.

"Like rearing animals?" Logan asked.

Daphne nodded.

It was common knowledge that vampires feed on blood. This group of youths captured people and dragged them to this unknown location. As long as they didn't overdo it, they wouldn't run dry on blood.

"Let's crash their party." Daphne's figures blurred and she rushed into the place.

Logan took in a deep breath and followed after her as well.

His eyes were currently glowing under the night light.

Bang!

The door to the building broke apart and Daphne stepped into the building.

The sight of the scenery inside threw Logan off for a few seconds. There were decomposed corpses on the side of the group, at least about twenty corpses.

One of the vampires currently had his mouth on the neck of a victim.

The pungent smell from the corpses almost made Logan throw up.

'How come we didn't perceive this while outside?'

This was the only question in his head.

Over the past two months, he had been getting the hang of his powers. Thanks to the book he collected and other things, he had been able to at least keep his emotions in check. Although he had transformed thrice since then, he didn't go on a rampage, thanks to Castiel locking him up in the bunker they found.

His sense of smell was currently on another level when compared to before, but he still failed to smell this. He wasn't the only one shocked, he could also see the surprise on Daphne's face.

The four youths turned to look at the intruders.

"Came to join our party?" One of the young men who was dressed in blue shorts asked with a smile.

On the side of his lips was blood dripping down, he used his thumb to clean it and licked it.

They could tell Daphne was just like them.

"Why did you come with a dog?" The young lady who previously had her mouth on the neck of a human raised her head to look at them.

She left the body of the human and it fell to the ground with a 'thud'.

"Such a nice strategy, unfortunately, the number of missing people reports gave you away." Daphne looked around and did a rough count.

In total, there were about thirty-eight humans here, and only five of them were still alive, although just barely. When she heard the scream the first time, she originally thought maybe the group was keeping the humans alive so they could have a continuous source of blood, but she was wrong, they weren't keeping them alive.

Once this batch was all dead, they would head out to get another one.

"Come on, there are so many humans out there, it's not like losing a few will affect them." The other young man on black trousers and a purple top shrugged, not bothered with the people they killed.

"You're all wanted…" Daphne paused and looked at them, before slowly adding, "Dead."

"You two can't possibly defeat us." The young man in trousers smirked.

Their figures blurred and they rushed after Logan and Daphne.

Logan was already prepared for this and with a quick movement, he dodged the lunge of one of the young ladies, grabbed her by her left hand, and dragged her to the ground.

Before her figure hit the ground, Logan felt a pain in his back and his figure was sent flying.

He crashed into the wall of the building, breaking through and falling on the forest floor, outside.

He hurriedly stood up, but the young ladies were already waiting for him. They started their attacks once again.

He was forced to block and evade most of their attacks. There are times when he would occasionally send one of them flying, but it was at the cost of risking being injured by the other.

Daphne was having a better time compared to him. She was stronger than her opponents, so it didn't make things too difficult for her.

Her only concern is that the vampires are stronger than her when she was in Rank Two, and the reason for that was simple, unlike her, they feed on blood which gives them a better chance of getting stronger faster.
