137 Reading Books

The two were now at the school's library. Xiao Yan had Mu Yue read and possibly memorize the books she chose for her. She only chose three books that contain general knowledge. She plans to slowly let Mu Yue read books that tell specific things after finishing these.

"Do I really have to memorize all of this?" Mu Yue asked when she saw the three books Xiao Yan gave her. They were not thick if compared to the other books she has already seen but memorizing books was always difficult for her.

"Yes. They contain the general knowledge, such as characteristics of most beasts, Common tactics to use against the beasts, and a book I made that contains some of my knowledge." Xiao Yan explained.

Mu Yue then read the title of the book that was made by Xiao Yan, "'Things Mu Yue must always remember' by her lover. When did you write this?"

"I have always been filling that because I noticed that you lack a lot of knowledge, especially on other fellow humans."

Mu Yue then opened the book. It contains the 'rules' of cultivators, Xiao Yan's experiences, as well as what Mu Yue should always follow.

"Never trust any other human except acquaintances. You may become friendly but never let your guard down. When trusting the so-called 'acquaintances', do not give 100% trust, as you must only give it to Xiao Yan." Mu Yue chuckled. She should have expected the last sentence. She then continues to read.

"Cultivators have an unwritten rule. First, the one who finds shall have the right to own if it was not already claimed. Second, those that fell to the demonic path are deemed as enemies, one must not hesitate to cut them down. Third, give respect to the strong. Fourth, a cultivator must not harm mortals for no reason. Fifth, cultivators should retain their humanity."

These were the most common things that they can be regarded as a cultivator's common sense. However, not all of them are strictly being followed.

"Mu Yue, those are the rules but you must remember that they are only the guidelines. If you follow those until the end, you will be naive. The best one to follow is your own judgment." Xiao Yan mentioned.

They spent some more time inside the library. Mu Yue read the books while Xiao Yan was at the side, explaining the things written.

"Xiao Yan, are those that fell to the demonic path, always evil? What is a demonic path?" Mu Yue asked as the two were going back to their house.

Xiao Yan thought for a bit and answered, "The demonic path is where cultivators who lost their minds, who did an evil method, or those that were corrupted fall to. There are some good people who fell there because they were forced, or might be accidental. Demonic cultivators are stronger than the average cultivators but they have lost their mind or at least their humanity. They are mostly evil, but no one will know if there are good ones out there."

When they arrived, Xiao Yan went to the garden to relax while Mu Yue cooked their food. This was what Mu Yue likes even though she does more things. She would rather get tired than eat Xiao Yan's 'food'.

'It's already going dark so I should probably check my consciousness tomorrow morning instead.' Mu Yue planned since she was not in a rush to know what happened to the jade.

She then brought the food to the terrace where they usually eat. They always eat here for breakfast and dinner which is when the temperature is not too high.

"Xiao Yan! I finished cooking the food. Time for us to eat."

"Coming now!"

Mu Yue prepared roasted lizard meat and a snake soup dish. She never tasted them and was looking forward to eating it.

"Thank you for the food, Mu Yue." Xiao Yan said before eating her portion.

Mu Yue waited until Xiao Yan tasted both dishes. She was not sure of the taste but she made sure it was at least edible. It was better for Xiao Yan to taste it first before her.

"This is delicious! I think the taste is quite different from what I remember when you cook this type of dish. I like it very much!"

"Glad you like it. I guess the food is fine judging from your reaction. I forgot to tell you... that is lizard meat and snake soup."

Xiao Yan paused and stared at Mu Yue, "You really did it..."
