40 The Limitation is off

In a city filled with night lights, cars pass through on every road since most of the people come home at this time.

Shadow, Luna and Ian were travelling with the help of the shadow element. From shadows of the buildings to cars and to trees, finally to the darkness cast by nature.

There was no motion felt during the trip, only the changes of scenery.

Shadow was silent in a solemn state the whole time but it's not the same for the other two. Even though it's their second time travelling like this, it was a totally different situation. The first experience for them was one in deep sadness that won't care much about it and the other was too young to notice such an impressive view.

This time, their eyes were sparkling at the free show of the power of shadow.

Luna is a bit jealous of such a convenient elemental power. No wonder it's the rarest.

Some minutes later, the shadow surrounding them pulled open, and the light came. It took them to a large room. No…a large hall would be more correct. There seems to be only a door for the way out. Not a window could be seen. The lights from before are powered by mana stones.

She got excited all of a sudden and asked, "Where are we?"

"Just an extra underground bunker," Shadow casually replied.

"Isn't it dangerous to do that?" Luna asked again nervously right after recovering from shock.

Shadow glanced back at her with the eyes saying 'What do you mean?'

"About buying an underground bunker?" she questioned him.

This is surely a perfect place to train but calling it an extra underground bunker…just how many does he have? Not to mention, the cost of building such a thing is not little for…normal people. She guessed Shadow must have earned quite a fortune in the past.

Shadow's expression changed in an instant, he rolled his eyes away from her, "I have ways."

"Oh…", she decided not to dig deeper than this. Shadow, he must also have his own life rather than looking after them.

If the place she is at is a bunker, it means she can really train without a worry here. She glanced at Shadow and requested, "Can you look after Ian while I train?"

Shadow nodded and took Ian from her arms unwillingly.

When the weight in her arm was lifted, Luna could feel some unknown feeling.

She told Shadow one last word before running far from them.

"Protect him."

Her chains are off now. The limitation and the insecurity she felt on herself were set free like a bird out of its cage, she ran off to get away from them, not to hurt them accidently. Her eyes close slowly.

The core in her body starts to suck her mana at a rate she has never experienced before.

Soon, starting from her hand, her whole body emits purple, orange and red glows. It filled up the space, the heat near her, the brightness, the air pressure, it all went up incredibly fast.

In a blink of an eye she was surrounded by a series of lightning and flames. The flames burn the concrete of the bunker, leisurely creating small cracks on it. The lightning being her strongest element, as it hit the bunker, it did more damage than the fire element could do.

Several lightning went out of control and came in the direction of Shadow who was holding Ian. It was blocked with his shadow easily but he didn't care about it at all. The stunned expression on his face didn't change. Who would have thought she would do that without saying a word?

When he thought back, she did give him a warning.

In less than a minute, due to the outburst of her elements and the rise of temperature, she was covered in sweat and her clothes were in a bad state. It reveals her white skin bit by bit. Her glasses also cracked.

Shadow closed his eyes upon seeing this. His other hand moved to cover Ian's eyes while the right one was carrying him. He waited until he could feel it stopped.

He released his Shadow to get the girl who's breathing heavily. Wrapping her body with shadow to ensure her skin not being revealed, he brought her to the place they were at and his shadow spread covering the big hall they were in, petrifying and extinguishing the damage she had caused.

Once he opened his eyes back, he saw Luna with her eyes closed in his shadow element.

She had already fallen asleep from tiredness.

He shook his head with a gentle smile on his face, before he could notice, a combination of colors glowed near his arm. Again, his skin was covered in his element, only the hair which is left out standing straight upward.

Shadow frowned at the culprit who's giggling in his arms. If Ian wasn't this young, he would have dropped him already. He sighed about the future this boy in his hand will be facing and let his displeasure go.
