Luna of Silver (First Draft)

"Kat!" I heard my best friend's voice call from the front room.

"Hold on, I'm finishing up!" I called back to her. As I put on my eyeliner and looked in the mirror. My pink tank top fit me just right and my skinny jeans were just at the right tightness and worn in the right places. It was my 16th birthday and we were going to the biggest teen club that we knew of. The only problem was we had to go into the rival pack's territory.

Our pack and the other pack have always fought for land. You see we have the two biggest packs in the United States. So, going into their territory was going to be hard on all of us because Bela's mate and beta of our pack will not let us go alone, he is going. Which means Blake, my ex and alpha are going, too. Blake and I were together for 3 years before he found his true mate, Karen, 4 months ago. Sure, it broke my heart and made me hate Karen, but seeing how happy they are together makes me less rude to her.

"Kat! If you're not down here in 2 seconds I'm coming to get you!" I heard my best guy friend, Jay, growling playfully. He had not found his mate yet and was trying to get with me. Like all the other guys that were mate-less in my pack, or so I'm told. Everyone thinks I'm so pretty and fuss over it. Me well I just go with it. I'm hoping tonight I find my mate. Now that I'm 16, as of 1 minute ago, I can finally find my mate. I heard Jay coming up the stairs at full speed laughing almost evilly, so I quickly finished my make-up. I opened the door just as he was grabbing the doorknob.

"Damn, Kat, you look um..." he began, looking me up and down.

"Holy shit, Kat you look HOT!" my best friend, Bela yelled. I giggled and blushed.

"Yeah, what she said," Jay said with a shy voice.

"Let's get going before Jay takes her into the room and does things to Kat." Karen joked and Jay turned and growled at her. I touched Jay's arm just as Blake stepped in front of Karen. Jay looked at me and I shook my head, my long straight brown hair swirled around me. Jay just smiled at me and took my hand and led me down the stairs. We all left the house and stood out front trying to decide who will ride in what car. Since we had 6 people in our group, we had to split up into two groups. Blake, Karen, and Kyle would ride in Blake's truck and Jay, Bela, and I would ride in my new car. I was just about to get in the driver's seat when Jay put his arms around me.

"Nope, birthday girls don't have to drive." He said, pulling me to the passenger side. I made a pouting face and slid into the car. Bela was slowly getting in the back seat. She was looking at Kyle as he got into the back of Blake's truck. My mom was walking toward the car as I shut my door. I rolled down my window to see what she wanted to tell me.

"Have fun, Kat. Please be safe." My mother said softly. I just nodded and smiled, lost in thought. As Jay pulled out of the driveway, I looked over at him, out of the corner of my eye. It was not him. He was not going to be my mate. I was happy yet sad about that, happy because he was my best friend in the world and sad because I had started to think of Jay as more than a friend. I had been thinking so much about who would be my mate that I did not realize we were already out of our territory. Bela had close eyes on me, and she was deep in thought about something. I just did not know what it was.

"What is it?" I finally asked her.

"It's just, you know, you're 16 now, I want to know who your mate will be," she said after what seemed like forever.

"Well, it can't be me." Jay chimed in sadly. I had forgotten that the male and female both must be 16 or older.

"Yet. It can't be you, yet." Bela corrected him. That seemed to make Jay happy.

"Two more days, babe, and I'll be your mate." Jay joked with a crooked smile. Bela and I laughed. I saw Jay's muscles stiffen and the hairs on my arms rose. Bela got quiet and she shrunk back in her seat. I looked at her and she nodded at me. We had entered the territory of the Black Moon Pack. They agreed to let us come onto their land. I was the one to talk to Alex, the leader of Black Moon, about coming to their town for my Sweet 16. He just nodded and warned me he would be watching us.

We drove in silence for a long time. My eyes fluttered to the window and I saw a large light gray wolf running through the woods. I watched the beautiful wolf run along with the car. As we got closer to town the wolf slowed down till it completely stopped. I sighed and watched the town fly by us. When we got to the club mine and Bela's doors open, I had just looked up when I heard Kyle's voice.

"I missed you, Bell." he smiled at her pulling her close to him. I just rolled my eyes, knowing that one day that would be me. Jay walked around the car and put his arm around my shoulder.

"Let's go dance." He said in a funny voice that made me smile and laugh. As we walked to the dance floor, I bumped into another guy and said sorry without looking because I was focused on Jay and where he was leading me.

"It's okay," he said in a deep husky voice that made me stop dead in my tracks. I turned around to face the man who had just spoken to me. I looked up at him and something changed in my world. It was not anything bad. It just made my whole world go black except for him and me. It was just us two in the club, in the world.

"Alex!" I whispered in shock. It sounded like I shouted it but, I hardly said a word. I was in shock. My heartbeat a mile a minute, while my mind was spinning.
