3 Study Abroad

Christopher Wu has always been a no nononsence, strick type of guy. After taking over the family business he has always kept the Wu clan's name in a positive light. He even married for the sake of the family, but he never let go of his true love. When his lover Li Yu Mei got pregnant with his son he wanted to leave his wife and start over with his true family, but his honor and pride got in the way. After the birth of his second child, Christopher wanted to bring his two families together knowing it would hurt his legal wife. When his wife died and spent no time bringing his lover into the family, soon they had another daughter and life was grand. In reality, he knew that the way he treated his second child was wrong but his feelings could never be compared to the children from Li Yu Mei. Luckily his eldest daughter was very obedient and kind and never tarnished the Wu's name. So he was very confused when his shy daughter came to call him out, ignoring the looks of everyone around.

After my father calmed his emotion he told me to follow him into the study room, once in there he just sat at his desk and gave me a hard stare. Not wanting to waste any more of my time with this man I just got straight to the point.

"Father, my only reason to speak to you today is to ask you to send me abroad to study," I said while looking in his eyes.

He rose his eyebrows, "You wish to study abroad. Where did idea come from all of sudden?" He asked me.

I let out a sigh and sat in the seat across from him, "To say the truth, my real goal is to leave the Wu family. For that to happen I need a skill that can help me live a peaceful life and I would do better studying away from the area where the Wu family is located."

He gave me such a weird look when I told him my real goals of wanting to leave. He closed his eyes and when he looks back at me he a serious look on his face. "You do understand the weight behind your words correct? Leaving the family is not something to be taken lightly."

I almost laughed at his concerned face and believe me when I say it took all my power not to sneer and hit this man upside his head for that statement.

"Father, it would be a different matter if I was truly a part of this family, but we both know my position in the Wu clan. Even before my mother died, in your eyes, I was never treated as your daughter. Even with that fact, it doesn't change that I have your blood running through my body. So as the first and last favor, please help this daughter of yours accomplish her wish and leave this place." I told him not once breaking eye-contact.

Christopher just stared at this unloved child of his and could tell every word she said came from her heart. Never would her believe that the daughter that he didn't put in his eye could be so brave, but unfortunately she wished to leave the family. He took a calming breath and looked at his daughter Sara, after some thinking, he could only give her what she wished for, as the last act I could as her father.

It felt like forever waiting for this old man to speak but when he did I couldn't be any happier, "I agree to send you abroad and let you study. When you are done with your schooling will be the day you are disowned and will have nothing to do with the Wu family." My father said with a serious face.

I gave him a warm smile, "Thank you father, but there is just one more thing I should mention. No matter what happens in the future I want to have no ties to the Wu family, and I hope we keep a distance from one another.

My father gave a hard nod and stood up, "Don't worry. You will have a life away from the Wu family, it will be that last thing I can do as your father." He then motioned for me exit his study.

I gave him a bow and walked toward the door with a huge smile, 'One goal is almost complete and now I won't have to deal with the annoying Wu family.' I thought with a slight skip in my step.

As I was my eldest daughter leave my room I had a feeling I was making a big mistake. I just couldn't realize why I was feeling this way when I knew that letting her leave would be the kindest action I could give her as her father.
