4. Fields of Broadstone City

When I woke up, the first thing I saw was grass.

Well, what do you expect, I woke up on something similar to fields, but they were untouched by farmers and with grass to my knees, in some places above.

~Now let's look around.~ Behind me I saw a forest and in front of me countless plains to walk through, but I could see the walls of a town or city. On my right I can see a river going from the forest down to the place I thought is human settling. I turned left and saw a large mountain chain. They were so wide that I could not see their end on the horizon.

I saw a bag under my feet. Inside I found there some flatbreads and a wooden bottle full of water.

~Well, for now, I won't die, let's check the biography that old white gave me~ with those thoughts as if the memories stored in a deep part of my mind surface, I remembered a "history" of this body.

Neo Silvlumen, that was my name. 17 years old Fae orphan raised by an old human theurgist from whom I learned how to do massage to relax sore muscles. that was the only help I could offer without any class. You can get class somewhere between 16 and 20 years old, so my "awakening" as they say was a little faster than average. But I left the village before awakening as the old grandpa died. I went to the biggest city in the area, named Broadstone after a Menavic Mountain above it.

I have just passed a river and was on my way to town when I "awoke" and come into this world.

The first thing I did was to use "Perfect Cover" to change the way other people see my status.

I made that my Primary class is Potential Enhancer, to seem like it was my only class.

I have also hidden skills that I did not want other people to see just in case someone with strong appraisal skills used them on me.

Now I look as if I am just a Potential Enhancer with a Relaxing Massage, Relaxing Trance (I've changed the way people can see hypnotic to relaxing and made it looks less scary without all those abnormal statuses and dangerous things) and of course, 1st tier skill Enhance Potential D.

After making sure that everything was alright, I went in the direction of the town.

I felt I was walking for half a day (it was only half an hour) when I heard wheels and hoves behind me. As I turned back, I saw a small wagon drawn by a bull much bigger than those on Earth.

A middle-aged man waved to me and said. "Hello my friend, if you are going to town, hope on. By foot, it will take you another two hours before you get there and it will be dark already so you may have to wait until morning before going in!"~woow that was a lot of information from the man I don't even know, not that I am complaining~ Those were my thought on this situation.

"Thank you... I am coming from Watermill VIllage to the town to see what city life looks like." As I answered middle-aged man smiled and said "I am Barry and you?"

"Noe, how do you do?"

"Ahh, I heard about you. Small apprentice of Helces, how is he?"~Helces... the name of old human grandpa that took care of me and just died recently...

I may have not even realized it but, it seemed that the look on my face already told him an answer.

"Ohh, sorry. It was a few years since I saw him last time."

"Mhm, It's nothing," I said while shaking my head.

"Hope on, we will be in town in 30 minutes. In the meantime, I can tell you something about this place."

As we were slowly moving forward, I got to know that this town was on the border of Malhake Forest and Manevic Mountains, on the very edge of human's Luxacies Empire. Behind mountains is a country, made by dragons together with Merchant Union, called Aurumunda. Country where everyone is greeted. ~why did I not start there, meh...~

From what I heard Luxacies is a country ruled by the church and, oh no... homosexual relationships are frowned upon. But, luckily I am on the border of it, and the church's power almost does not reach here, so I can still be myself there as being gay is not illegal yet. But marriage is impossible here. ~ I may have to move to Aurumunda later on.~

There was also an issue of intolerance of non-human races. Not that big here, but it was still possible to get caught and be sold as a slave. There was even a small slave market in the city.

As we were getting closer to the walls, I could hear people talking and I saw a small group near the gate, all with weapons. As I was interested in them, I asked,

"Does this town has any problem that they need armed people?"

"No, no. Those are adventures from the Guild. You know, the only way to level up is to either use your class skills or kill monsters, so those adventurers here are probably going back from the forest after the fight. Malhake is a deep and dangerous place, so to make passage even a little bit saver, Guild recruits adventurers, to clear small monsters around roads, or look for potion ingredients inside of it."

~ahh so it's like this, okay.~

When we came closer, the adventures already passed the gate, and guards moved their eyes on us.

"Hey Barry, I can see you moved wheat from your farm here. It took you longer than last time." One of two guards called out to us.

"You know how is it when you finally see your daughter, and granddaughter after a while. I had to stay and spend some time with them" answered Barry.

"And who may it be." Said the other guard. This one was a little bigger than the other and had a more serious face.

"Hello, I am Neo Silvlumen and I came to register to the Guild after awakening." ~yup for sure I am joining the guild, they have no problem moving countries as adventures, hehe.~

"Hmmm, so I can assume that you don't have your ID card right? If you don't, I have to call someone with appraisal skills. This way I won't let someone dangerous into the town."~good that I thought about masking my status~

"No problem, Sir." as I said it, I looked into his eyes, while keeping my wide open.

~aaaayaaa, he blushed hehe~ Hmm, the helmet covers most of his face, but maybe he could be my type. I just hope he is not bald or too old.

"Billy, call Astan from the Guild, he can do it, and maybe he will also help this one register after he is done" ~oooo, that would be much easier, nice~

"Thank you!" I said while smiling wide and keeping eye contact with the serious guard.

~hahaha, he avoids my eyes, and blush even more, man, If only I weren't level 1...~

As I activated my Mind-Eye to check this guy out.

"Bye Barry. It was nice meeting you."~it truly was, I got free transport and I could chat a little with someone.~

"So, now we are waiting for Astan right?" I said to "serious guard" as I call him in my mind.

"Right, it shouldn't be too long."
